I wonder if Bonten is somewhat like Hangure (半グレ). I just never really had a grasp how their organization worked, but tbf it was just a brief appearance in the manga. I wonder if all the bad tl Toman is/like Hangure....
#pen rambles#ig what's curious to me is how bonten/bad toman seemingly don't have or isn't implied to have connections with the yakuza#so i assumed they could be hangure (but a more refined version of it?)#makes sense with the manga and rl timelines wherein the yakuza is in decline#the only time we get some kind connection/ref to the yakuza is through wakasa in the og tl#but toman doesn't exist in that timeline so#i also read jake adelstein's post abt hangure the other day which just intrigued me#i'm thinking abt this too much. i don't even write for bonten lol
