the fact that there are so many jiang disciples 3 months after the massacre is really interesting because we know that jc doesn’t have friends outside his siblings and nhs, we know that he has an unpleasant temperament and is socially awkward, we know that he’s harsh in his training to new disciples, and we know that he’s very young and immature, and he’s often led by anger. to an extent it’s hard to judge what he’s like away from wwx because he’s usually with wwx, but was he really so much better on his own without anyone to support or encourage him? what exactly inspired so much loyalty? the memory of his parents? the promise of revenge against the wens? a chance to get in early on the winning side? I assume at least some disciples survived because I feelnlike active recruiting would be really hard during a war, esp for jc as a person, and I cannot imagine many cultivators look at a 16 year old jc with absolutely nothing and say ‘oh yeah I’m going to pledge my sword to him and help him retake his ancestral home because he’s just that charismatic and he’s such a capable leader’
