Ok this is so weird to me, I stg I learned about this rhubarb and this EXACT sound file of it growing ON TUMBLR some years ago but with a post that had a MUCH different tone

it was basically just “hey guys, did you know you can grow rhubarb super fast if you put it in the dark? it grows so fast you can hear it! here’s the audio! neat huh?” and everyone was like “oh yeah! neat!”

and now there’s this post that’s like “oh my god guys, did you know there’s EVIL rhubarb that grows in the DARK, like some kind of bogeyman vegetable?! it’s HORRIFYING” and everyone is like “AHHHHH IT’S EVIL!!!”

i’m not saying it’s bad i’m just saying it’s really funny having seen both posts and how it exactly demonstrates how framing and word choice can cause the EXACT SAME THING to give people VERY different reactions

#i'm not gonna look for the original post i saw bc it was actual years ago and i'm not digging that far into my blog #but i still listen to the rhubarb growing when i want some soothing background noise so it's SO funny seeing it framed as #some kind of halloween horror track #look i'm not saying being horrified is the wrong reaction #it's just weird TO ME because i was introduced to it in such a different way #and like #they're just plants guys #they're edible #they grow fast but they don't have tentacles that can reach out and strangle you or anything #they just grow straight up really fast in the hopes of reaching sunlight #if you're really scared you could just start eating them like that episode of powerpuff girls with the broccoli aliens #i wasn't going to say anything but i keep seeing this post lately so #i can only assume whoever added the audio is just happy to hear word get out about this method #regardless of how it's framed lol
