idk if anyone else has done this but i’m also checking out aboki korea on ig bc the real park hyung seok hong jae yeol and jang hyun all model(ed) there and 1) the recent stuff is pretty drippy? like no lie how’d you know i’m a major sucker for the loose shirt tucked into tight pants aesthetic 2) i can recognize a lot of the older fits esp the ones from like 2014-2016(??) bc ptj drew hyungseok wearing them...
must be nice when ur reference for ur Signature Pretty Boy Character is your little brother who is also a model
anwyay i can’t tell which model is hjy oops. i can identify phs pretty easily but every time i go OH IT’S HJY IT’S THE BANGS i check the tagged account and it’s jang hyun’s. gdi.
OH.
REAL DUDE JANG HYUN = FACE CLAIM FOR LOOKISM JAEYEOL.
REAL DUDE JAEYEOL = ?????????
no wonder the lookism jay energy from real jang hyun was so strong bc look at it. the bangs. the cringe drip energy /j please lookism model jay au where i don’t have the art skills
the “hazukashi don’t look too closely” energy? immaculate ptj did a good job with his face claims i feel like haneul linking fashion to personality like it’s an astrology thing (nothing against horoscopes!)
what if this but janiel... lookism janiel... pien
i also found ptj himself on the aboki model insta which is unsurprising considering his past as an ulzzang but at the same time im like what are YOU doing here ptj-nim??
ptj and his bro were BOTH models there. that’s the explanation of everything. that’s the explanation of this post
#if you're curious yes i'm trying to come up with a playlist for my idol daniel au#or like a track list of stuff he Would sing#and i accidentally fell down the rabbit hole of lookism history#anyway idol daniel is iu + kim sejeong vibes i don't make the rules#lookism#the 2016 cringe!#what was i doing in 2016#oh my god i was 11#first year of secondary school#i've come a long way#excuse me i am going to take a look at jang hyun's ig profile

hello hannah, hope you're doing well!
you're right kdrama fandom tend to move past shows quite quickly after they're done airing, it often feels like we all take a trip together while watching the show and then bam return to normal life once it's over and then we're all reshuffling to other, often different, destinations once new dramas come out lol The way I watch dramas often depends on how busy I am or how much I need distractions. I usually alternate between watching shows that are airing and catching up on already completed ones. I love watching a show live and getting to create stuffs for it and write about it and read people's thoughts on it as it unfurls, everything kind of feels more meaningful? but also I'm sometimes not in the mood for anything that's airing or for giving a lot of time to a show - I love giffing or analysing plot and interactions but it can be really time consuming lol - so in that case I either wait until a few episodes of some shows that seemed interesting are released so that I can see the people I follow react to it to see if it's worth binge watching the first episodes to catch up with it (I just did that with summer strike!) or I'll go look for maybe an older drama or one I didn't have time to watch when it was airing so that I can watch it instead and do it at my own pace.
For example, amongst the list of your favourite dramas that you gave, I watched reply 1988 all at once in between airing dramas since it came out way before I got into kdramas and I loved it, it's one of the rare ensemble shows where I didn't feel like skipping anything even if I knew already how it ended and even when it was getting super late and I was tired lol but I watched run on live and it was the perfect escape when I was super busy and one of the rare shows I've rewatched and gone over again.
Talking about your fave shows (Reply 1988, Secret Forest, Vincenzo, Hospital Playlist, Run On, Bloody Heart, Our Beloved Summer, Inspector Koo, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Twenty Five Twenty One, Idol: The Coup, Rookie Cops), could you tell me what's your favourite thing about them? I've watched quite a few but there are some I'm curious about and I'd love to know what you think make each of them special 💜
your secret santa 🎥
ps: when it comes to strong woman do bong soon, I personally thought the real good thing about this show is the main couple's interactions and relationship because a lot of the side characters are annoying, irrelevant, or it's just a lot of caricatures and what I thought was over the top comedy - but also park hyunsik and park bo young are great in it so I ended up skipping a lot but enjoying them a lot too lol
pps: I'm really curious about your url, why did you chose it?
Hello Secret Santa!! I am doing well, how about you? Holiday busy-ness is ramping up, so that’s keeping me busy but otherwise, yes doing well.
I love when the fandom all get into the same kdrama, and everyone makes so many gifs, and brings up so many nice discussions in the tags. Those dramas are rare, but it’s always so fun when kdrama Tumblr is all on board the one drama… but then at the end of it, like you said, everyone kinda shuffles off to different dramas (or no dramas at all) and it’s interesting how it works like that, and how we all wait for that next drama that will make us go feral.
As for me, I try to keep up with currently airing dramas… I usually have something to watch most days of the week, but for me even if the dramas of that period aren’t that good, I find that watching dramas with someone (via Teleparty, etc.) helps a lot in keeping my interest in the current dramas of the season while I”m in a slump. Cause even when the fandom is non-existent, I have my friend who I can discuss the drama with, even if we’re both hate-watching lol…
I was the same with Reply 1988!!! Since I (re-)started dramas again so late, I had to rely on people’s recommendation of must-see dramas. Reply 1988 was one of them, and I just loved it. It might be a super long series, but I’ve rewatched it twice more now.
I think for the majority of my favourite dramas, especially the ones I’ve listed, you can see that a lot of them has some type of group/friend/team-type relationship dynamic in them. I think I enjoy dramas more if they have a good … group. Doesn’t have to be friends, can be family, a group of colleagues, an idol group, etc… I think that group aspect is what elevates me a good drama to me to a favourite drama.
As for other ones… I loved Secret Forest because it’s a well written political/crime thriller, and the acting of Bae Doona and Cho Seung-woo, and the growth of their relationship is just excellent.
For Bloody Heart, I didn’t think I’d enjoy this type of sageuk at all. My previous enjoyment of historical dramas relied on good comedy and romance to compensate for the same tired palace politics plot found in all these types of shows. However, with Bloody Heart, it was the first time where I actually enjoyed the palace politics a lot, and it was a straight up political thriller set in Joseon period. It didn’t have comedy at all, so I was hesitant to start it cause I thought it will be the same tropes being used over and over, but nope. Palace politics was top notch from the get go, and not to mention the series is just BEAUTIFUL. Cinematography p*rn.
Which ones of the shows I’ve listed have you seen, Secret Santa? :D And do you like them as much as I did haha…
-thanks for the heads up about Strong Woman… I feel like I’ve heard the same kind of thoughts re: side characters (not to mention Ji-soo having that huge school bullying scandal from a year or so ago…)
-as for my URL, it was part of a quote from the show How I Met Your Mother, said by Marshal, “I’m cuddly, bitch. Deal with it.” I can' t remember now why I chose it, but I probably thought the combination of those two words were cool at that time. xD I still like my username though, and hope I'll never be forced to change.
