dogs are more psychologically and emotionally similar to humans than any other animal. in this sense it is an error to overemphasize breed when it comes to personality, because dogs are individuals primarily shaped by environment. yes, certain instincts are in-built for a generality of a breed (by far the most consistent and prevalent example being herding), but an individual dog will have unique fears, habits, likes and dislikes, quirks, temperament, physicality. this is missing from most discussions on the topic but it is well-understood by animal behaviorists. there is no particular behavior that all members of a breed display, and there is no monolithic personality that automatically applies to all members of a breed, full stop.

I am not saying it's impossible that MAID could be used improperly and weaponized against poor, mentally ill and disabled people, but I'm also gonna ask once again that MAYBE we require slightly better sources than just NO NAME sources and fucking tiktoks for things like this.

Conservatives tend to be against medically assisted suicide, which is an important right to have and REQUIRES the ability to make an informed decision. It isn't lost on me that right wingers have done smear jobs on this sort of issue before - I think of Terry Schiavo and the clown show they pulled around her as her family fought about whether or not to let her die (she was essentially gone at that time, so it is different than medically assisted suicide, but it's a similar thing for these right wing assholes).

OP, I don't trust you for a second, but if you're legitimately concerned about disability rights, bodily autonomy and fucking eugenics, using sources that don't look sus as hell might be a better way to make your case.

I need you guys to listen so bad, but I’m at least glad people on Twitter are starting to talk about this. The government of Canada is expanding Medically Assisted Death to cull the poor and disabled, and now suicidal and mentally ill (these are usually interchangeable of course here). It is EUGENICS and every single disabled rights organization is against it.

Disability payments are $1,200 a month. The average one bedroom apartment rent in the Greater Toronto Area (greatest pop. area by far here) is $2,000 a month. People with mental illnesses are on months long waitlists to get even a single publicly funded session. Weeks to get privately funded care which costs at least $200 a session. There is no housing here for disabled people. We are in one of the worst housing crises in the world right now.

Doctors are now offering MAiD unprompted to young suicidal people. This woman is 21, a health practitioner literally suggested she kill herself.

This is one of the worst Disability Rights Violations we’ve ever seen in Canada. The government is killing us because it is cheaper than funding healthcare, cheaper than giving people housing and food and basic human rights.
