stemming on the fetishizing topic that other anonny was talking about, i think the thing that bothers me the most is the rampant shipping of members with each other. Granted that you can't assume that they're straight or gay, it's just so intrusive, at least imo, to ship these real life people with each other in such a public manner when it's really just fetishizing of asian males or shipping them with each cause you can't stand not having them yourself. looking at jikookers and taekookers

ofc!! of course anon you make a valid point. I think everyone here can agree shipping is an inherent part of fandom culture BUT rpf (real person fanfiction) has always been the nasty thing a lot of people side eye precisely because of these implications you mention. idk it's not my place to call out fans who ship them between each other (key word being SHIP and not conspire to think they're actually together) bc it would feel hypocritical of me? seeing as I've read and even written reader x celeb fanfic before (it was in the marvel fandom tho), and at the end of the day isn't that the same thing? you may not ship tae^kook but if you read explicit fics abt jk being your bf then.... you're still sexualizing him? HOWEVER the fetishization part is way more present in gay ships obviously, especially when they reduce jimin/jungkook/whoever to a one dimensional shell that relies on heavy stereotypes to be seen as gay/lgbtq.

i will say this: as long as these shipping relationships are respectful of the fourth wall I don't think it's /wrong/ per se to participate in them. whether it's boy x boy or reader x celeb, the fact is this will continue to happen. as I said, shipping is a deep part of fandom experiences, but these people need to learn to be normal about it. don't spam the boys with that shit, don't tag them on your imagines, and ESPECIALLY don't delude yourself into thinking taek*ok or jik*ok is real 😭 I didn't think the tkkrs were that bad until I stumbled upon a dark side of youtube where there are 30min long videos titled "why tk is real" and it gathered thousands of views in a few days??? it was like larry all over again I clicked out of there SO FAST.... I will NOT go through that again 😟😟
