mutt always tries to have some reading material with him, usually cheap mass-market paperbacks because they're light and don't take up too much room. genre and content aren't important. he’ll read whatever he can get his hands on – legal and medical journals, magazines, newspapers, discarded programs from performances, etc. stolen from kiosks, yard sales, and used bookstores, sometimes bought, or simply given to him, even fishing through trash to find something. if all you've got on hand is the new comprehensive a-z crossword dictionary, 1995 edition, best believe he'll go through it. and apply it, when he's going through the paper.

while he might not understand all of what he's reading, that just gives him a reason to learn more and new things and look stuff up. he likes libraries – along with everything else they offer, they're one of the only warm places that he will never have to worry about being chased out of. he always says it is better to fill his head with anything and stay sharp than to go crazy with whatever his mind would focus on without it.
