Honestly man it just makes sense why Lucy and Gray are so comfortable with each other.

Within just barely knowing this guy for a few episodes into the series she sees him at his absolute worst, on Galuna. And then directly from that, Gray sees Lucy at her worst during Phantom Lord.

Like the earliest stages of their interactions had them seeing each other at one of their most emotionally vulnerable and lowest points. Of course moving forward from that they're gonna be completely chill with each other and comfy in each other's presence, cause they've already unintentionally laid themselves bare to the other.
