I got sidetracked while I was looking for my top posts of 2023.

I found this fascinating in a self absorbed kind of way. It is entirely possible that nobody else will be interested, but since this is my blog, I'll post whatever I like.

My most popular post, by far, is this video:

I had to delete it a few years ago because the stream of notes was driving me nuts. This was before we could mute things like that. I'm not going to say how many notes, as that is not the point of this exercise. What I would like to know though, is what is it that people find so appealing about this? After all as someone pointed out, I have a leaking gutter.

I have the same question with the rest of the photos on this list. I know why I took them, but why are these popular when others are not?

Over the years I've posted a number of photos and videos of the very photogenic river behind my house.

This one makes me think of @mojo5050 , who unfortunately hasn't been active here in quite some time. It is nowhere near as good as their work, but I figure if I keep practicing maybe someday ...

This one brings to mind the Queen of the Enchanted Forest, who, also no longer active here, is greatly missed.

Is using AI allowed?

No! It has been proven that using AI is stealing from original creators' works. To me (and lots of other people) this is unethical. If I find out something is made with AI, it will be removed from the AO3 collection and the account will be blocked by this account.

I'm aware I can't do much to prevent people from using it anyway. I will try my absolute best to prevent it from happening. All I can do now is give you a tip I've seen going around: posting your works for registered users seems to protect against AI programs from finding it.

Which brings us to the next question

Can I post works on AO3 for registered users only?

Yes you can. Especially with AI going around so much, it is completely understandable that you want to keep it away from people without accounts. I myself also only post for registered users. There's no rule against it. Same with the comments, you can choose whatever option you want

Do I have to post on AO3?

No, you can post wherever you want. However, there is only an account for this event here on Tumblr and a collection on AO3. Posts on Twitter, Instagram or other places won't be shared by me.

But this is for everyone, so you can still create for it! You don't even need to tag me for it.

Will you reblog my work?

This is my first time hosting an event so I don't know what to expect. I want to reblog everything I find! I'll keep an eye on the Buddie Week 2024 tag and my mentions and will do my best to reblog everything.

With AO3 I want to share links on this blog too, but I don't know if everyone feels comfortable with that, so I don't know yet. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable or feel exposed to an audience they don't want.

Depending on how many works will be submitted, it might take some time. I'm currently experiencing a burnout and am still working, so I don't always have the energy. However, I will try my damn best. So even if it's five weeks too late, I'm planning on reblogging everything I'm tagged in!

Can I write graphic/dark topics?

You can write whatever you want, BUT!!!! Tag accordingly. Buddie Week is for everyone - including writers and readers under 18. Be aware not everyone is comfortable with some topics, make sure it's obvious these are in your work so that it doesn't trigger someone. I think it's obvious to say that discriminating isn't okay. There's a difference by showing the reality of it (a character going through it) and writing it from a discriminating view. If it is, yes, I did see your last ask - but life has been a bit shit lately and frankly, I didn't have the emotional bandwidth to deal with an accusatory email that gave me absolutely no details about what you were upset about so I could investigate. So today, despite it being an incredibly long and shit one that isn't over I'm going to reply.

*Takes a deep breath* From this point forward I'm going to assume that, like me, you are just a real-live human with feelings that get hurt and not someone who just likes to yell at people on the internet. So let me apologise that I have used your artwork without attribution, it was in no way my intention. Please take this apology as someone who was just trying to amuse themselves and perhaps help some other people out by reminding them to take their meds too. I absolutely suck at art-type things so in my mind, no one would think I did them or was claiming the actual 'art' part of them as mine. I realise now this is the internet, you guys don't know me, and so I should have been clearer that nearly all of these are edits. (There are a few waaaaay back I actually drew myself). Looking at the 7th, 8th & 9th of April (allowing for time zones and assuming that's when you saw your artwork). It seems that one doesn't have the link. I don't know why. I haven't made any new reminders for this blog in ages (again - life) - it seems like most of the ones from early April this year were originally posted back in 2021. I got briefly excited about this blog again a few months ago and loaded up a bunch of old ones so this blog was still functional for the people that find it helpful. Going back I have noticed that others seem to not have credit either. It is possible I made a mistake and forgot to add them. It's also possible that Tumblr has a had a glitch/error/weirdness which means it's disappeared. I also used a bunch of images from the editing app I was using to add the reminder message and I wish I could remember what the site was called because I cannot for the life of me remember. Honestly, who knows. I have deleted the post(s) with that image - if it's not the right one please let me know.

I have always gone out of my way to ensure that anything I use is either free use, or non-commercial under Creative Commons. As an aside, I'm an academic and a person who has artist friends and my partner runs a business where our customers are largely designers and artists, so I do actually do my best to give credit. Am I perfect - no I'm not. Part of the reason I stopped making new posts was because of difficulty giving credit even on images that were non-attribution and finding images where I knew what the attribution requirements were (along with trying to remember everything everyone asked me to tag, and doing the image descriptions etc.) If anyone else finds something of theirs in one of my posts and there isn't credit attached please either dm me or send an ask and let me know which post and how you would like to be credited and I'll add it in. If you want it removed, I'm happy to do that too.

Hi, I'm also a progressive and this blog was recommended to me by tumblr because I follow the #biology tag. I 100% agree fetuses are humans and deserve the same rights as anyone else. I am pro choice because no one has the right to another person's body. If you are in a situation where someone is dying and needs specifically a transfusion of your blood to survive, you have every right to deny that person your blood and let them die. It would be a cruel and callous thing to do, but you are not obligated to give anyone your blood not matter the circumstances. And that (blood donation) is a procedure that is minimally invasive and highly unlikely to cause major complication. Pregnancy on the other hand is the most invasive you can get; the other person is literally embedded in your body, radically altering its hormonal balance and shifting around organs and imposing major health risks. No one has the right to impose themselves on another person's body like this without consent. If anyone other than a fetus physically intruded into someone else's body in this way and rearranged their organs and took nutrients out of their blood it would be treated as an aggravated assault and battery, possibly grievous bodily harm. Pregnancy is physically harmful, interferes with a pregnant individual's functioning (it's pretty much a temporary disability) and in a way, abortion is self defence against an unwanted physical intrusion and violation of bodily autonomy. If the baby is not viable, then too bad. The other person's right to their own body comes first. If the baby is viable, then once they are born/removed every effort should be made to preserve their life.

Ngl, I was tempted to just delete this because I've already responded to these points multiple times, but because you appear to have put sincere effort into your argument in good faith, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt. In the future, please scroll through my posts to make sure I haven't already posted a rebuttal. This once I'll save you time and dig up the links for you.

So, this is a mix of the autonomy (consent) argument, the refuse (donation) argument, and the self-defense (parasite) argument.

You start off making the McFall v. Shimp case against forced bodily donations: a classic argument of the Right to Refuse. Every living born person has been the beneficiary of a pregnancy; comparatively, almost no one has been the beneficiary of an organ donation, so these situations are actually not that comparable. BUT, let's pretend they are. Here's the relevant excerpts to that:

You have no obligation to extraordinarily sacrifice to keep someone from dying and may refuse to do so. In most cases of elective abortion, a preborn person is not already dying. They are in their proper environment where they belong at that stage of life, and they are healthy. It is completely ordinary to at one point in your life have your body sustained by a pregnant person; more people are at one point sustained by a pregnant person than are ever pregnant with a person.

Per the standard form of this strategy, you then make the case for self-defense by pathologizing pregnancy; a cliché misogynist tactic. Excerpts:

Pregnancy is no extraordinary sacrifice; it isn’t a regular sacrifice, and it’s a big deal. Yet that pregnant bodies take care of prenates is ordinary and healthy. Pregnancy is not disease. Disease may happen within pregnancy and is treatable. You can only revoke consent to actions, not foreseeable consequences. You may not violently sacrifice a helpless person to “mitigate” risk or harm.

You also claim that fetuses are aggressors with some culpability for the changes the body naturally undergoes in pregnancy. This dips into the parasite argument as it implies that the parent-offspring relation is parasitic, and it weirdly adultifies literal babies. Excerpts:

Self-defense justifies violent force proportionate to a threat or violation, but this assumes an aggressor. A preborn person has not deliberately forced themself upon their parent’s body as an assailant. To suffocate, poison, or dismember a person forced into a vulnerable circumstance is excessive force and abuse of power, upon the same principle as police brutality.

A prenate has no volition & also isn’t an agent in pregnancy. A baby shouldn’t be held to adult standards. A baby’s existence is passive, not an aggression, and not a threat. On a gut level we know it’s cruel injustice to deliberately harm a helpless child, so we must construe either “child”, “helpless”, or “harm” as false to justify abortion.

Lastly, you describe pregnancy as an unwanted intrusion, which isn't reflective of the reality of why people seek abortions; people get abortions because they want no relationship to a living child. BUT, let's say hypothetically, someone did simply not want to be pregnant. Excerpts:

Another implication of these posits is that the prenate is invasive. This is predicated upon that the location of a human (in this case, the womb — where else does a prenate belong?) has an impact on their moral status, meanwhile dismissing place of origin and safe shelter. The argument is that something about being a fetus justifies her extermination; that autonomy takes precedence over dependence is just pretense.

Not to mention, you must reckon with the reality of elective third-trimester abortion, in which a fetus is viable yet deliberately killed via exsanguination, lethal injection, or dismemberment. You should see the victims of the discriminatory violence your ideology condones. I'll leave you with this:

RE: JUNGKOOK CHANGED IN RUN

Why did Jungkook not want to be on Jimin's team in the last run episode? He has changed a lot from before. Thoughts.

My first thought is, you don't gotta interpret everything in a negative light.

Not every strong reaction is a bad reaction.

I'd be a phony ass fraud if I sat here and told you with my two thumbs that I didn't raise a brow at that moment. I did.

Especially when you contrast that episode with run 112 which falls on all fours with this current situation- ok may not all fours.

But in that video, like many others, RM had suggested they form teams based on the sunglasses they wore, just as he had suggested they form teams based on the seating arrangements.

Of course he'd meant it as a Joke just as we discussed in a previous blog post. Personally, I expected they make a draw, rock papers or even dance in circles like they did in the other episode to decide who got who in the competition.

But it seems in all the times he's been paired with JM he's been supper thrilled about it. He even warned the members not to underestimate him and JM when they'd unanimously concluded they were the disadvantaged team in the game- Jin not even bothering to ask them what their scores were on Korean.

He reset the timer to 10 seconds when Jk pointed out he wasn't good at reading fast

When the time stopped and they were asked to make a team of four, he turned to find JM almost immediately as if to make sure JM was part of the four, he held on to his arm to prevent RM from breaking the link.

He was supposed to pair with Yoongi and Jimin with Tae but he didn't even try to find Suga. At least V did try to find Jimin. He moved towards JM and when he realized JK was hugging him he went for Suga.

Throughout the episode he was giving JM tips on how to cheat and shot when he wasn't sure of the answers.

Yet in the last run, he didn't seem as enthusiastic about being paired with JM- or so, he'd have us believe. Smirk.

He ain't slick. Lol.

To me he seemed, on the surface of it, either really salty about the others having Jin or RM on their teams or upon reflection, just plain ass overcompensating for something.

I'd go with the later.

It's similar to how, Jimin got the Sauna card and he'd complained about not liking the Sauna but then swapped cards with Tae so he could be on JM's team.

Or how he'd make a theatrical show of wanting to win a competition but smirk satisfactorily to himself when he loses.

I really don't think it's a big deal.

Personally, I love watching them paired up and doing such activities. It's a great way to see how they work together as partners and as a team.

It's also a great way for them to spend time with eachother, enjoy eachother, nurture their bond and strengthen their relationship.

Fanservice or not, scripted or not, you cannot deny that spending time together doing activities together is good for building a relationship.

They spend a considerable about of time together off cameras but a lot of their time is spent on cameras and at work.

They gotta find a way to make their relationship work on the work as I keep saying. All that 'fanservice' people say they are doing? That's them making it work. They gotta find a way to go on dates, feed eachother, hold each other's hands, tell Jokes, laugh at eachother's jokes, express their attraction for each other, flirt, share eachother's interests and do things couples do without inviting public scrutiny to their every interaction and invasion of their privacy.

So where they see an opportunity they go for it. For JK it's the the little decisions he makes on their behalf like choosing where they will sleep, what activities they can do together, wanting the bigger room, making sure JM wins the presidential suite, or choosing a room detached from the other rooms.

He invests in his relationship the best way he can. Same goes for Jimin.

I keep saying this whole fanservice culture is a win win situation for them- for even any queer idol couple in the same band.

What seem like a challenge could technically be an opportunity for a date for them without dispatch breathing down their necks.

A typical example would be this. Jimin said he wanted to go get Yoga with the others but ended up going with YoonKook on their brewery excursion.

The more time they spend together, on and off cameras the more closer they get and the more they get to know eachother on a deeper level.

But you have to bare in mind, they need their personal spaces too in order for their relationship to function properly.

Jimin used can be very needy in his relationship but for the most part he enjoys his independence too.

Jk has always had a strong sense of independence but he can equally be quote needy and over attached once he is in a relationship- especially when things are going great for him.

Spending time apart, persuing personal goals and interest is good for them.

If it helps, think of moments when they hang around eachother as Jikook dates and when they hang quietly in the background of videos do think of those as them having their me times at work...

Would they miss an opportunity to 'date' or hang privately with eachother? I don't think so.

It's in their dicks interests and the interest of whole production team and crew to allow them to be around eachother as often and as much as they want and can.

I for one, I'm not prepared to sit through yet another excruciating episode of Jungkook wanting Jimin- physically and emotionally. I'm still dealing with the PTSD from the last BonV four episodes.

Y'all buy me Ko-fi please. I don't intend to sit through that shit sober.

If Jk is pushing to be on JM's team and what not it's mostly because he feels he needs to spend more time with him. If he's not pushing for that it just means he or they are both allowing for space and room in their relationship for eachother to pursue other activities and interests or even connect with other members- unless of course they are having relationship problems which I don't think is the case.

Jimin is particularly good at this.

He goes out of his way to nurture his relationship with the others even on set.

He does this especially with Tae.

He'd take Tae to go see places he and JK had already been to, he'd request to take pirate rides with Tae- even though JK is available and won't hesitate to let him know, he often make plans involving Tae or even the others- in Soop when Tae asked him to go ride around the town with him he chose to stay and manspread on Jin and Yoongi. *I'm cackling. Lmho.

Jimin is a funny guy.

Now does this mean he doesn't like spending time with Tae or that he's changed? Hell no.

Hell, Tae does the same thing from time to time too. I mean when he found out he had picked a Sauna card he asked to swap it knowing very well Jimin had picked that card too. Soulmates coulda soulmated that shit in hot piles of steamy.

Sure JK lurks around sometimes. He is the resident intruder stepping on Jimin's other ships' neck. Love him for this. Lol.

Tae had to drag his ass away from the kitchen for intruding when he and JM were cooking in the Kitchen. Let's not talk about him physically removing him from JM's car or all the times he's complained about JK raining on his Vmin agenda.

When V wanted to be on a team with JM this man literally sabotaged him, hugging Jimin first. It's his laughter afterwards for me. Lmho.

V needs to insure his Jimin cos at this point it's trademark infringement. Hashtag soulmates. Lololol.

Jk needs to go ahead and free Vmin.

But JM does this too, in much more subtle ways- I'll never forget the look he had on his face when he had to get off the bus and walk home as punishment. It was the most heart breaking thing I ever seen.

Then he had to hang off Hobi to get JK to leave his friends and come to him.

It's why I used an ellipsis the last time I talked about Jimin being very mature now. Old Jimin would have, clapped back, made JK pay for that outburst if he genuinely thought JK meant what he said or believed JK really wanted to be on a team with someone else.

Y'all don't see him when JK compliments other people? He stays kicking his feet under the table🤣🤣🤣🤣

I used to pinch a gurl I liked when other gals talked to her when I was little- In my defense, I didn't even know I liked her or that it was straight up abuse💀

Jimin can be pretty scary and petty when he's mad or offended.

I heard another twig snap and as me and Daryl went to turn around a man came up hitting both of us with a thick branch knocking us both out.

I opened my eyes to see it was dark out. There was a fire going with two woman and a man sitting on the other side of it. I started going in and out of consciousness. When I came to again I saw the woman with brown hair shoving my crossbow into a bag they were talking but I couldn't make out what they were saying. I ended up falling back into unconsciousness.

When I finally came to again the man was in front of me. "Hey, get up. Hey, get up" he said.

I was proped up against a tree MY hands tied in front of me.

"Where moving" The guy said point a gun at me. I just glared at him then it dawned on me Nikyla was with me.

"Where is she?" He growled.

"Where is who?" The guy asked.

"The girl! Where she is?! I'll kill ya if ya hurt her!" Daryl growled.

"She's fine she's over there" the guy said. I looked over where he was pointing to see Nikyla laying on her side still knocked out.

"You don't say shit and I won't have to" the guy told him.

"We ain't who ya think" Daryl told him.

"Say something else. Go ahead." The guy said pointing the gun at my head. He grabbed me by the front of my shirt and pulled me up to hmy feet.

I glared at him but knelt down. "Hey, Nik. Wake up" I said and nudged her with my tied hands.

"Hmmm" shehummed.

"Come on. Time to get up Nik." I told her.

She opened your eyes "Daryl?" She said.

"Yeah, it's me. I need ya ta get up" I said. She looked up at me and noticed my hand were tied. Her eyes widen and she shot up seeing a man with blonde hair and the two woman behind me. She looked down to see her hands were tied together as well.

I stood up helping her get up the best the I could. "It's gonna be okay" I told her. She stood up looking at him then at the blonde haired man, she walked over and started to walk behind the two woman.

"Here, drink the rest." The brown haired woman said handing the other girl a bottle of water.

"We should save it." The blonde woman said.

"We'll find some more. Drink. You're supposed to stay hydrated. It all works together." The brown haired woman told her.

"Yeah, it does." The girl said and drank the water. She handed the battle back and then the woman took it handing it to me "here take it" she said but I ignored her. The blonde guy took it walking over to me.

"We don't need you falling down. Drink." The guy said.

I took it walking over to Nick "here drink" I said.

She took the bottle drinking some of it and giving it back to me.I took it drinking the rest of the water.

"They find us, maybe we give you to them, they let us call it even. You see, we're reasonable people. Everybody's got their code. You feel you gotta kneel, that's fair enough. We don't." The guy said.

Nik looked at me mouthing "What the fuck?" I just shrugged my shoulders.

"let's go" the guy said taking the bottle and handed it back to the woman. He went to grab Nik but I wasn't having any of that.

"Don't touch her!" He growled.

"Come on" Isaid looking at her and she walked over to me and started to follow the two women.

"Who do you think we are?" Nik asked As we walked through the blackened burnt forest. No one answered and just kept walking. She were in front of me and behind the blonde girl.

"Can't believe were back" she said.

"Its not home anymore. But it's better then where we were" the brown haired girl told her.

"This is a pit stop. We pick up Patty nothing more than that." The guy says.

"How'dyou do it?" The blonde girl asks.

"You saw where I left the truck? We opened the valve and drove all the way in from Farmview Road. Ran from the tree line till we got to the pavement. Lit up a matchbook from the Sweetwater and dropped it in on the trail.

Then we just ran for the car. Got in and the dead ones were there. They were beating on the hood, and then-- and then boom! Knocked 'em on their asses and I took an axe to each one." The guy told her.

"Then we just watched it go up. No more moans, no more of that wailing. It was just the fire, just burning them all away." The brown haired girl said.

Nik and I listened looking around at the chard blackened burnt trees, forest floor and bodies.

"You did all this?" I asked.

"It was right at the start. Everything stopped-- the TV, the radio. We were here. The forest was full of them. And the other ones in town, they were drawn to it. They just walked right into the flames. We got most of them. Thought we ended it for us, and she was in DC. We thought everyone was fighting them wherever they were." The brown haired woman said.

"Yeah, we thought that was what everybody was doing. Fighting it. That we'd all win together. We were stupid." The guy said.

Nikyla and I stopped "Y'all don't think you're being stupid right now?" I asked.

The guy walked over to me putting the gun in my face. "Are you saying I should kill you? I mean it, are you gonna try and pull something on us? Are we just being thick here by not removing all doubt? Right now, by me not pulling this trigger, is that a mistake? I'm serious. I really wanna know. You made a choice to kill for someone else, to have them own you for a roof over your head and three squares, so maybe I'm not considering all aspects here. You tell me, am I being stupid?" The guy said.

I looked at him calmly you how ever were freaking out inside. "No. Look, I got somewhere to be. We can make a deal. We can help you out." I said.

"You're one of them. You're hurt and you're alone and you'd say anything. We should've never trusted you people to begin with." The guy said.

"Go on. Keep moving." He told the both of us. We kept walking until we were out of the burnt forest and came out to a small field to see a fence with rigs and walkers behind it.

"Son of a bitch." The guy said walking towards the fence with the two women. The walkers growled and slowly walked closer to the fence.

"Patty." The guy says.

"She could be..." brown haired girl started.

"No, she's gone.the guy told her. Nik and I just stood back watching them.

"Then we make another plan." Brown haired girl says.

"Yeah, we get out of here, that's the plan." The guy tells her.

"Then that's the plan." She says.

"You guys didn't have to do this for me." The blonde girl said.

"It was the right thing for all of us." The brown haired woman told her.

"This was the right thing? Even if just you guys went back now, if you just told them that it was me..." The blonde girl started.

"No, we'll find a way. Just think about it."

"No."

"Look, maybe we don't get as far, but we'll get--" the guy started when the blonde girl fainted.

"hey! Hey, hey, hey! Tina," they both said.

I grabbed the bag. "hey! Hey, baby sister, look at me." The brown haired woman said.

"Hey, stop! No!" The guy yelled standing up shooting at me and Nik as we took off.

"Don't! We need that, please!" The woman yelled.
