i was rewatching episode 5 of hotd and got to the part where criston was asking rhaenyra to run away with him when the absurdity of the whole thing just hit me. how was he genuinely expecting to hide her? she has silver hair, purple eyes and a whole dragon. girl took one walk in king's landing and was immediately recognized.

not to mention, daemon and viserys would've literally turned westeros upside down looking for her. they would've employed every man, woman, knight, lord, lady, and child in the realm to find her and bring her back to kings landing. pretty sure viserys would've hopped on a dragon himself and joined the chase after a while.

yeah sure, criston could've blended in quite well amongst the smallfolk, but rhaenyra would've stuck out wherever they went. his "free to go where we like, to love as we like" line is wild when you think about the fact that they would've spent the entirety of their little trip in hiding because EVERYONE in the seven kingdoms would've been ordered by the king to look for her.

criston had insane tunnel vision like how did he expect to pull off his little stunt even if she had agreed? even if she dyed her hair, i'm assuming most (if not all) major lords and ladies in the realm have met her and could recognize her facial features and voice even with a different hair color. it's not like criston was buying her a full makeover package, the best they could do would be to change the color of her hair and put her in plainer clothes.
