You hadn't been so immersed in a book since you were still a child- you had been sitting on your couch for hours that only felt like minutes, taking in every word of the story. The fatalistic protagonist, Ezra Miller, never failed to interest you with his beliefs about tragedy following the fall of his former glory. His love interest, the fascinating but elusive Cassidy Thorpe, was constantly arousing questions in your mind that had you turning page after page. The other characters as well piqued your interest, and you found yourself wondering about them as well. So far, it was a wildly entertaining read, and you didn't really want the book to end.

So when your boyfriend Gojo Satoru, standing a distance away at the kitchen table, called your name, you didn't even hear him.

"Y/N."

"Y/N!"

Finally, Gojo's voice cut through your thoughts, making you look up in surprise. Confused and just a little agitated, you gave him an aggravated "What is it" look, eager to return to your story.

"Damn. Anyone in there?" Gojo queried sarcastically, making a knocking motion in the air with his hand, his other arm propping his body up on the counter. "I had to call you three times to even get you to look at me."

"Yes, I'm aware. Do you need something?" you asked, tapping your foot impatiently and sneaking glances down at the pages.

Gojo pursed his lips and shrugged coolly, his piercing blue eyes glinting mischievously. "Nope- just wanted to bother you." He flashed a wide, goading grin in your direction, at which you simply rolled your eyes and angled your head lower to keep your distracting boyfriend out of your line of vision.

With a quiet sigh, you resumed reading your book, picking up right where you'd left off. You were closer to finishing the book than starting it, and you suspected a major twist would be revealing itself quite soon. Still, it was fun to speculate, and look for clues throughout the entire story.

Unfortunately, it wasn't long before Gojo began to act out again.

"Y/N."

No response.

"Y/N."

Louder this time. Still silence.

"Y/N."

Still nothing.

"Y/N!"

Now you were really annoyed, slamming your open palms down on the splayed-out book pages. "Gojo, what?" you demanded, your glare beseeching.

Gojo seemed unfazed by your outburst, simply tossing his hands into the air in surrender. "You wanna go irritate Nanami with me? I feel like I've been cutting him too much slack."

"I would think you'd be exhausted irritating people, seeing as you have already successfully aggravated me." You turned your head to the ceiling, blowing out air in exasperation. "Congrats. Now please don't call me name unless you or somebody else is dying. Thank you." With a bitter smile, you promptly put the book in front of your face, obscuring everything behind it, including Gojo. You knew you were being sort of bitchy, but you hadn't had a moment of real peace in a while and wanted to make the most of this.

You tried to keep enjoying your book, holding it in front of your face firmly, but now you found yourself just waiting for Gojo to interrupt you again. But you couldn't let him know that, obviously, so you didn't budge, practically glaring at the words on the pages.

But suddenly, the words were gone- as were the pages. As a matter of fact, the whole book had vanished from your hands! Blinking in confusion, you turned left and right to scan the couch cushions before facing forward again to see a pair of long legs right in front of you.

Your eyes widened, and with a groan, your gaze wandered upward until it met the face of the smirking Gojo, one hand in his black jean pocket while the other dangled your book in the air between his index finger and thumb. His arm was stretched far above his head in order to prevent you from reaching it, and his teasing grin from earlier was about a hundred times wider.

"Got your book," Gojo announced tauntingly, leaning over your stiff figure on the sofa. He swung the book back and forth a few times before stopping to eye the cover dubiously. "The Beginning of Everything? Looks cheesy." Dismissively, Gojo tossed the novel over his shoulder, it landing on a coffee table a few feet behind him.

The book hit the wood with a hollow thud, and you snapped your head up to Gojo. "Are you serious? You can't possibly be this immature." Incensed, you stood up abruptly to go retrieve your book- now you'd have to find the page you'd left off of. But the second you got to your feet, you were lightly pushed back down by a pale hand to your chest.

Gojo chuckled self-assuredly, giving you a mockingly piteous look. "Now you have no choice but to pay attention to me."

You scoffed up at him, folding your arms stubbornly across your chest. "As if. Just because you've stolen my book doesn't mean I'm incapable of ignoring you." To make your point, you crossed one leg over the other defiantly and made a show of examining your nails, keeping your eyes averted from the man towering over you.

"Oh?" You could hear the teasing lilt in his voice, meaning he'd decided to treat this as if it was a challenge. You didn't reply, eyes narrowing. Gojo let out a short laugh before bending over so his face was in front of yours, both hands in his pockets. His eyes boring into you were almost impossible to ignore, but you managed, abandoning your nails to twirl a strand of hair around your finger.

"That's a challenge I'm willing to accept." You could feel Gojo's breath on your face, his voice low, and you stifled a strangled sound in your throat as he lowered his body to the ground, settling on his knees. Gently, he placed a hand on each one of your legs to pull them apart; he managed to do so despite your half-hearted resistance.

"Shame you decided to wear this cute little skirt today," Gojo cooed, sliding a hand up your thigh to hook a finger around the waistline of your panties; you couldn't hold back a tiny gasp. Eyes filled with lust, Gojo simply pulled your underwear down your legs and let it fall around your ankles. Hello there. This is an entry for a writing challenge launched by @blisfvll for reaching 1.5k followers. I doff my cap, that’s awesome! Congratulations again. This story was meant to be shorter, but it turned into a multiple chapter thing which is still not over (but I’m working on it). It displays Steve being the adorably blind, stubborn and hotheaded dorito we all know and love. Enjoy!

<<This is unacceptable!>> Steve bellowed, almost kicking the meeting room door open, rage etched on his features.

Behind him followed Aadya, the newest member of the Avengers, also known as Lone Wolf.

Her black hair was still perfectly straight, though it was slightly grimy from various explosions; so was her dark leotard, which she kept dusting every now and then.

She was no superhuman, but she was still a valuable resource for the group- a badass agent through and through.

The brown-haired super soldier snickered: he’d always liked that girl. She never took shit from anyone, not even the sainted and revered Captain America.

The very same guy who snuck alone inside Schmidt’s base to free him and other soldiers, defying his general’s orders, was giving someone a lecture about recklessness. Talk about hypocrisy

Well, Bucky snorted… That was debatable.

Aadya flew into a rage. Despite the height difference, she looked every bit as intimidating as the blue-eyed super-soldier.

They all knew he’d hit a sensitive topic: she was incredibly loyal and devoted to each one of them- yes, even the Captain himself. Perhaps, she cared more about him than about the others…

At that moment though, it looked like she would enjoy nothing more than to clobber him with a sledgehammer

Steve froze, as did all the other Avengers.

Aadya too had hit a sore spot, and she knew it. She did not know just how sore though…

But it was made clear soon enough

Gasps of horror echoed among the others, but the two contestants were two busy glaring at each other

Silence fell in the room.

All the eyes were fixed on the Lone Wolf.

Everybody expected her to be furious, to lambast him… To have some sort of reaction. Instead, all the fury was suddenly wiped from her face and she just muttered

Spinning on her heels to walk out of the room, while the other agents stepped away to let her through.

They just… They just couldn’t believe what was happening.

Nevertheless, the most stricken one was Captain America himself.

From up close, he’d seen all the emotions fighting in her eyes while her countenance grew colder: disbelief, indignation, rage and… Pain.

A lot of pain. Much more than he would have expected.

He didn’t actually mean those words, he was just mad…

Damn, he was hotheaded alright.

Deep down he knew that she was right, and he was just being unreasonable… After all, their job was anything but safe, and things went awry most of the time, no matter how prepared they might have been.

Fuck, why did he have to be such an asshole?

<<Steve…>> His best friend called

Before his companions could even turn around to look at him, he ran out of the room, looking for the feisty brunette.

He had to find her immediately.

Thanking Erskin for his serum -he was certain he’d never run that fast, not even on missions- Steve darted through the corridors.

Luckily, he spotted her just as she was about to walk inside her room

She did not even turn to look at him

<<Aadya!>> He panted.

With one last sprint he managed to grab her by the arm before she vanished behind the door.

At that point she did look at him; there was so much hatred in her eyes that he balked, but he did not let her go

He was kind of intimidated, and very repentant

<<I… I’m sorry, I was out of line. But you need to understand that->>

He sucked in a breath, feeling worse and worse as she went on

Steve sat up with a groan, massaging the spot where she’d hit him; he had to admit, she was a force to be reckoned with

That said, she shut the door with a bang.

The Captain stayed put, leaning against the wall. There was an ache in his chest, but it was not due to her hit. Unfortunately, it was due to his idiotic behaviour…

Later in the evening, in the living room, the team -minus Aadya- was having a chat

The billionaire chuckled

The Captain flinched, almost as if he’d been hit -again-

Everybody looked at the Captain, whose expression was horrified

Hey, I absolutely agree with you about wanting a tag space for ASOIAF specific content. But I was wondering how one would know what should go in the new tag when some of the early seasons of Game of Thrones actually did once overlap with the books? How do we make the distinction of what's acceptably ASOIAF enough?

Hi! A number of people have asked me questions like this: what do we do with show images? I think it’s a difficult question to answer. I’ll start by saying that the purpose of this tag is for book content, But what do we do with show images?

I don’t think this is a question I should answer alone. The #valyrianscrolls tag should be a community effort on the part of the ASOIAF fandom, so I asked the opinions of a few book fans what they thought.

I’ll give their opinions before I give my own.

The general consensus among people I asked seems to be that show images are okay if they are being used to depict things from the books.

In my opinion – and this is just my opinion, I’m not the fandom police, I’m not some authority – show images are okay if they’re being used in some way to depict stuff from the books.

For example, I make photomanipulations. If you tell me I can’t use any images at all from the show for my photomanipulations, then I’m not gonna be able to put any of my creations in this tag that I started. (Which is gonna make me kinda sad.) I have used stuff from the show as a base for my photomanipulations for years, and I don’t think anyone would say these are show stuff:

all four of these images used show caps as a base

everything here also used show stuff as a base for the graphic

I personally don’t consider those images ^^ to be “a mix of show and book content”. I consider those images to be purely book content, and I used images from various tv shows to illustrate that book content.

So if you’re using some images from the show but you’re using them with book quotes to depict stuff from the books, I personally think that’s ok.

Also, I am not a fanartist, but I am friends with fanartists, and they often need references! Art is EXTRA HARD!! I don’t think it’s a bad thing if artists need to use a reference image from the show to help them draw their art and illustrate the books, as long as they are trying to show the books.

Also, fancasting is hard. For example, it’s hard to find gif footage of an actor with achondroplasia in medieval-ish clothing. (I made gifs I’ve never posted of Casterly Rock, and one of the gifs is a gif-manip of Tyrion at Casterly Rock, and I use Dinklage as my fancast. I am acutely aware that Dinklage is not exactly how Tyrion is described in the books – he’s too old, for one thing – but what do I do? How else can I show Tyrion? I think representation is important, so I want an actor with achondroplasia to depict Tyrion, so what do I do?

How do we as ASOIAF fans disentangle ourselves from this show-book mess? What do we do?

I think we just have to do the best that we can.

So I’ll say what I said above: the purpose of the #valyrianscrolls tag is for book content. If you truly feel like the images or gifs you’re posting are book content (or some AU or s/t thereof), then I would tell you to put it in the tag.

But it needs to be book content!!!

Like Butterfly said, even in the very first season of the show, there were differences. For example, Cersei never had a child by Robert in the books, and that’s a pretty big plot points!!

So this tag is NOT for the early seasons of the show, they’re not the same thing!! The tag is for BOOK CONTENT!! (pls dont put show bs about the show!baby Cersei and Robert had together in this tag pls)

If you’re fancasting show images to show book content and you’re plastering book quotes all over them, or if you’re captioning them with book quotes, then I think that’s ok.

But please!! Actually use book quotes!! Not show quotes!! Book quotes!!

Also, please, I’m begging y’all, “we are not men” is NOT a book quote, please stop putting that quote in the #asoiafedit tag, I will not reblog it to @asoiafedit, PLEASE!!

If you are looking for a book quote, or if you can’t remember whether a quote is from the books or the show, I recommend using

If you’re looking for ASOIAF quotes about a certain theme, like love, you can search for “love” in asearchoficeandfire and get quotes!! You don’t need to use show quotes!!! There are so many quotes from the books!! GRRM wrote so many words!! So many GOOD words!! So many QUOTABLE words!! Use them!!

We’re all in this difficult situation together. That show is everywhere. I think we all just need to do the best we can, keeping in mind that this tag is for book content. If you don’t feel like something is book content, then don’t put it in the tag.

For me, it’s not about “overlap” or “mixing” the two canons, it’s

“I’m depicting book canon, and sometimes I have to use the only resources I have (ie show images of hand pins/chains) to depict the book canon, but I’m gonna make damn sure you all know this is book canon with all these book quotes and book references.”

I’m hoping that this can be a discussion, though. Like I said, I’m not a fandom authority. I’m not trying to boss anyone around. I’m not trying to make fandom rules.

So maybe other people can reblog this and weigh in on how they think this should go? Do other people think it’s okay to use some show images if you’re trying to depict book content?

TLDR - use the #valyrianscrolls tag for book content. You have to judge for yourself whether your post is book content, and I hope that you will keep the spirit of this tag in mind and be courteous to others when you are tagging.

Kaminari swiveled to gape at Bakugou, who was currently lifting weights absently as he scrolled through his phone. “You do not get to say that.”

“You’ve sworn ten times more than I have in my life, dunce face.”

“THE OCCASION CALLS FOR IT!”

Bakugou sighed harshly, dropping the weight on his bed before looking at Kaminari. “So you forgot to ask her. Yeah, dumb fucking move, but you can do that now.” He added, under his breath, “And get the fuck out of my room, too.”

Kaminari shook his head, letting out sounds that vaguely resembled wails but were more alike the bleats of goats than anything else. “Noooo, I can never face her again. Do you have ANY idea of the absolute mortification I am facing? I am DOOMED! I screwed up, I fucked up, I’ll never be a hero, I’ll never get married--”

Bakugou chucked one of his notebooks at the wailing child, grumbling about him being a “fucking annoyance” and that “if you don’t get out of my room right now I’m going to blow you up in our next lesson”. Yet, in Kaminari’s state, he surprisingly didn’t even care, merely grabbing the book and clutching it to his chest, as if it were a teddy bear.

A knock sounded at the door and the two glanced at it, Kaminari’s face paling because somehow, in his broken, embarrassed heart, he knew who was behind it.

“Bakugou? Is that Kaminari in there? Can we-can I talk to him?” Your voice called out.

Kaminari squeaked, literally diving onto Bakugou and clutching the other boy’s torso. “No no no,” He hissed, “I’m not in here, I’m not don’t you dare tell--”

Though really, he had been doomed the moment he chose Bakugou to vent to. What could he have possibly been thinking?

“Get off me!” Bakugou growled, violently wriggling around to throw him off. “Yeah, he’s in here. Just open the door and go get your fucking feelings sorted somewhere else. Or else.”

The door opened to reveal Y/N, a smile on your face that Kaminari interpreted as pitying and mocking and teasing even though it was the exact same smile you always gave to him--the smile you reserved just for him. Even if he was too much of an oblivious ass to notice.

Kaminari waved awkwardly, face uncomfortably warm, one arm still wrapped around Bakugou.

“Oh, am I interrupting something?” You asked, an eyebrow raised. Bakugou grunted, shoving Kaminari off hard enough that he tumbled forward.

“Hurry up and tell her you want to go to the dance--”

“Okaaay! Lalalala, there’s nothing to see here! Yup! Nothing at all!” Kaminari shrieked, bouncing up and rushing out of the room, Y/N leaning out of the way as he practically zoomed past. “I’m going out so I’ll see you later, yeah? Bye!”

“Kaminari!” You cried out after him as he speed walked away. You turned to Bakugou in exasperation. “Is he really going to ask me?” The boy nodded. “Are you sure?”

“Well, he’s been bugging us for weeks about it. I’d say go and find out yourself but it’s been fucking annoying so just hurry up and say yes already.”

You grinned, thanking Bakugou before running after Kaminari, wherever he’d gone. He wasn’t hard to find though; he was still limping along the common room as he scrambled to put a jacket and shoes on so you caught up quite easily. “Hey,” You said simply, startling the boy. “So, got something to tell me?”

Kaminari swallowed, laughing nervously. “Mm, do I?” You nudged him, giving a pointed look. “I don’t know, it was pretty stupid. You don’t need to hear it.”

You sighed, hands on hips as you swerved around him to stand in front, effectively stopping him from advancing to the front door any longer. “I don’t think it’s going to be stupid, Kami. In fact, I don’t even know the question but my answer’s yes.”

“Is it, though?” He asked, looking unconvinced.

“Oh for goodness sake Kami!” You groaned. “How dense can you be? I’ve already said yes!”

Kaminari blushed, trying to save his dignity before it was destroyed completely. “But you don’t even know what I’m going to say!”

“I think I do.”

“Nuh-uh, for all you know I could be asking you to-to...” He dragged on the word to buy him time. “To lick the floor! Yeah!”

You blinked at that, both surprised and not. “Really?” You said flatly.

“Really.” Kaminari nodded.

“Okaaay then,” You drawled, eying him. “Well, in other news, I guess I’ll just go to the dance with someone else. Maybe Tokage and I can go together.”

This time it was Kaminari’s turn to blink as you stepped aside to walk away. What? What did you mean Tokage? The super cool recommended student in the other class? “Wai-wai-wait! Who? You’re going? Since when?!” He blurted, shock and disbelief in his tone.

You smiled at him over his shoulder. “Since now. We both agreed that if someone didn’t ask us--certain someones--we’d just go together. Nice plan, right?”

No. No it was not a nice plan who even planned something like that?! Going with-with some second choice?! That’s the height of desperation! And with Tokage?! Was that his competition? How was he supposed to compete with her?!

You felt this sickly satisfaction grow inside you as you watched his face go through all possible emotions. To add fuel to the fire, you continued, “Oh, wait, I need to go to her dorm. We’ll need to match--”

You were a cruel one, really, you were.

“Wait!” Kaminari cried out, spinning on the spot. “Are you-can you still wait? For...” This was it. Whatever higher power there was up there, please don’t let him screw up. Please show him the signs--the way. “For that certain someone? Is it not too late?”

You hmmed, swaying from side to side. “Mayyyyybe. It’ll be too late in about...” You checked your watch. “Five minutes. So that certain someone better hurry,” You sang, smiling fiendishly.

Kaminari swallowed nervously. Why was he shaking so much? Somewhere, in the rational part of his mind, he knew you were going to say yes, knew that it was him you were talking about, knew you’d go with him. You’d already said it! But...

He’d never been quite good at this sort of thing anyway. It was always just something for him to fantasize about. When would one of his crushes actually like him back after all? That only happened in romance movies. Not that he watched them. Either way, he wasn’t like any of the male main characters--he was just Kaminari, ‘dunce-face’ and class clown. Not even class clown, he was just one of the class clowns. He wasn’t so special that he’d really catch your attention. Or was he?

You cleared your throat.

“Uh, Y/N, so will you, if you want, I guess. Will you go out with--wait, no, I mean, will you go to the dance with me? If you want to! But like, I think you do.” He blanched. “You do, right?” Fuuu-- “Did I do it right? Oh wait, crap, I didn’t--”

Distantly, he heard a few snickers--Jirou? Ashido?--behind him. “This is too painful to watch ohmygod.”

You simply laughed, but kindly, stepping forward before giving him a short kiss to the cheek, smiling and wow did you always look so bright and gorgeous and-- “Yes, Kami, I’ll go to the dance with you. Even go out with you. Thanks for finally asking.”

And all at once it felt like the weight of a thousand worlds had lifted from his shoulders. You’d accepted. Holy crap you’d accepted-- “YES!” He cheered, pumping a fist in the air. Maybe it didn’t only happen in movies after all!

“Damn, excited much?” Someone else laughed.

You nudged him, but it felt more comforting now, better than before. “We need to match, right? Let’s go now, you’re already half-dressed.”

Kaminari nodded, maybe nodded one too many times but could anyone blame him? He’d finally asked and you’d actually said yes--yes!

He grinned, feeling his electricity pumping just under his skin from his excitement.

So maybe he was that special.

Don’t let this guy isolate you from your love ones because that will make you more susceptible to being targeted by him in the future.

Lastly, this might be a controversial opinion but don’t hesitate to fight back if things get violent. Get a weapon, a taser, pepper spray, a rape whistle, really anything you can get your hands that you can use to protect yourself. Keep it close at any time… especially when you go out.

At the end of the day, your life is more important than anything else. Don’t play around or consider “what ifs” if you find yourself feeling endangered in that relationship. No hesitation and don’t worry yourself over “hurting his feelings”. Because that’s not important. YOU are important. Protect yourself and reach out to the necessary help.

A Guide to Manchester, From a proper Manc

Before making this blog and coming into contact with a number of people, it never really occurred to me that people would want to actually come to Manchester. I knew that we got Tourist money from the two clubs, but for some reason, it was a real shock to see people saying “I really want to go to Manchester.” When you live in a place you don’t always know how much people love it. So, from me to you - here’s a list of things you can do if you’re coming to the city and perhaps want to prolong your stay or need to be there for a couple of extra days.

Top 5 Things to do other than see a PL team play

1. Go and see a smaller, local club This is more for the health of these smaller local clubs than anyone else, but please, give it a thought, if you’re there for a while and feel you’re lacking in football. Check the local fixtures and see if there’s someone in the lower tiers you can go and see, it won’t be Premier League level of course but it makes for a good afternoon and trust me - the locals will be amazed you’ve come to see the club and they’ll definitely tell you the best pubs, restaurants and things to do in the local area. Be warned, the cost of a pie will still bleed you dry.

2. The City Centre The City centre of Manchester owns my soul - it’s my go-to whenever I go back for a short or long stay. Filled with cracking shops with a wide variety you’ll find something that floats your boat. You have the Arndale - the shopping centre this has all of your high street shops, a food court and some wacky stuff thrown in. There’s also the Arndale Market on the ground floor, where a variety of stalls selling street food from all over the world and a craft beer hub. There’s Afflecks - Alternative fashion galore, you can get just about anything here from fake blood to pastel makeup. It’s also very cheap, and make sure you visit Ginger’s cafe on the top floor and get a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Milkshake, a pricey £5 but worth it (though I’d recommend sharing it with someone) If you’re into books, be sure to check out the Waterstones on Dean’s Gate - three whole floors of books in every genre and discipline you can think of with a cafe and friendly staff. Going in as soon as it opens is an incredibly peaceful experience If you’re looking for a night out on the town then Manchester has plenty to offer but I will warn you, be careful, make sure you’re in a group or at least with someone else. Manchester is an amazing city but it is far from perfect and is no stranger to crime 3. Museums Manchester is full to the brim with Museums. The most obvious one is the Manchester Museum, which is part of the University Buildings and it’s free to enter, especially great if you have kiddies with you. There’s also the Transport Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry - remember Manchester was the first Industrial city in the world and the history buffs of its citizens are very proud of that. Moving out of the city centre, there are the Hat Works, Staircase House and the Air Raid Shelters that you can visit in Stockport but time your visit or you might run into a hoard of School children from the various schools in Stockport - trust me, I’ve been to Staircase House and the Hat Works three times each. If you happen to be in a park, check if there’s a museum that’s part of it. Most Museums are free of charge to enter or while be pretty cheap and donations are always welcome. 4. Parks For a concrete Jungle, Manchester has a sizeable number of parks that really give a breath of fresh air, out of the smog. Many of these parks will have once been the properties of Wealthy families and are now under the ownership of the local council. Usually, you can go into the houses and learn about the people who once lived there - many are Tudor era houses and have a history that stretches over 400 years. My personal favourites are Wythenshawe Park (though, unfortunately, the house was burnt down by an arsonist a few years ago), Heaton Park and Bramhall Park. Have a look for ones closest to you and where you’re staying.

5. Delve into the city’s history Manchester was once upon a time one of the greatest cities in the country - arguably it still is. It thrived on Cotton before become the financial centre of the North, filled to the brim with Factories, Politics and it got bombed to bits in the 40s. Manchester was the home of the most prominent leftist movements - after all, it was the subject of Engels 1844 study on the condition of the working class which eventually gave way to the idea of Communism - you can see the books that Marx read at Chetham Library. The city is filled with Georgian and Victorian buildings and if you go to the site of St Peter’s Field then you will stand on the ground where reform began to peep through in a deeply undemocratic England (Scotland would have a crack at it the next year)

How to get around Manchester has a pretty diverse transport system - buses, trains, trams, the lot. There’s no underground, however. I will warn you that transport can be quiet expensive in Manchester so I suggest that if you’re there for a few days then you get a weekly ticket for the bus. Transport for Greater Manchester covers the majority of the city and outside areas so you can use the ticket on any bus providing it’s the right company. I’d advise getting a Stagecoach ticket (you can buy them online and on the bus) but if you want to avoid being caught out, there is a ticket that covers all of the bus services.

Both trains and trams run for taking you from outside of the city centre and into it or across it. Currently, the 50 bus takes you to Old Trafford and the 219 bus takes you to the Etihad and there’s a short walk once you’re off the bus. I’d recommend against getting a taxi or uber unless it is late at night - this is safer than public transport. You will be fine at night IF it is just after a game and everyone is leaving.

Food We love food and we’ve got an incredibly diverse population so we have a variety of places to eat with influence from all over the world. If cheap eats are your style then there are lots of buffets with food from all over the world. There are plenty of places to go to splash a bit more cash if you have it under a variety of cuisines. If you want to be spoilt for choice, go to The Printworks where there’s the obligatory Nandos but also a small chain, Wasabi, if Sushi is what you’re after, among others. If you’re coming from abroad you should be able to find a shop that sells some home comforts especially if you’re coming from Eastern Europe (Poland especially) or a Muslim country. There are also some restaurants that specialise in Greek food and some shops that sell food from the Balkans, though these are more limited. I imagine if you put a quick search into google, you’ll find somewhere and if you’re looking for a specific cuisine then Tripadvisor is your friend though many of these may be in the more general areas of Manchester rather than the city centre.

Outside of Manchester Whether you have opinions on Liverpool teams, Liverpool is a short (and cheap) hop on a train - which is also one of the oldest Passenger based steam railways (though, it isn’t steam anymore) in the world. Liverpool is packed with maritime and musical history and the two cities couldn’t have thrived without one another. Go, you won’t regret it...just, don’t wear your team regalia. I have held a full uk driving licence for 14 years.......my husband (who has a provisional licence) was put on my new policy last year as a named driver. Today, he passed his test, so to keep it all legal, i contacted the insurance to advise of change of circs.
