Reasons why I love my horse so much: when she’s done with me grooming her manes into something resembling...well...manes, she turns around and marches past 5 stalls back into her own and fully expects me to leave half of her manes in tangles because she’s in her stall, Please Leave It Alone, Human.

#Lilja certainly is a ...character #I can groom her coat just fine - she loves that actually #manes are a bit of a Thing #I Cowboy Magic the shit out of it and am super careful with getting knots out and she still starts to...well...fuss #can't stand still #moves to other places in the stall #I get it done eventually but she does all she can to not have to go through it #if she had less manes I'd be less thorough but she does not have fancy sleek manes at all #if I leave it alone it'll turn into thick blobs of tangled up hair and that's just not...that's yikes that is #I'm not cutting anything short either b/c she's Icelandic and if I'm gonna stick to anything from the breeding and sports regulations #it's that horses are supposed to have glorious long loose manes #and look as natural as they possibly can #I dunno what tone comes across but I'm very amused #she always does this and it makes me laugh #she certainly was in a good mood because she even gathered the nerve to tease Pandra #who is a horse who is at the top of the food chain and Lilja generally doesn't go to her for playing #anyway have a weird little story about my Icelandic horse who I love very much
