mahi mahi resort (splatoon 3) is such a fascinating map because the gimmick that made it so beloved on wii u was so hilariously fumbled in this rendition. for the first half of the match the map is so ridiculously tiny and cramped (smallest map in the game if I remember right) that it's downright fucking miserable to play on. there's no turf so everyone gets aggressive really fucking fast, and it's so fucking flat that hiding from anything that outranges you is nigh impossible. and then halfway through the match the water level drops, exposing more turf, creating more cover and increasing verticality, and suddenly it's actually a pretty okay map. and by the end of it I've forgotten how downright fucking miserable the first half of the match is
