its been a whole week and im still thinking about it. i am unfortunately doing a completely piss poor job at being normal about it

mann i have GOT to develop a better response to seeing a bad take online. i just saw an understandable but still pretty bad take about flowey earlier and i had to immediately close the app and walk away to cool myself down

#damiel bullshit hours #the take in question was that someone said they didnt like how undertale expected them to sympathise with or forgive a genocidal maniac #i might be misremembering the exact thing unfortunately. it mightve been a bit different than that #but anyway i do get it. i dont agree but i definitely understand the thought process #but despite what you may think: undertale does NOT require you forgive asriel. its literally a choice #killing him doesnt even abort pacifist! the game considers it a morally neutral action!#but more than that i feel like its just a really boring read on asriel's crimes #as weird as it feels to defend it. all of flowey's murders were ultimately inconsequential #completely reversible actions. he didnt kill anyone because he wanted them dead forever‚ he just wanted to see what happened #obviously‚ this still isn't a good thing #but i guess my point is that in my eyes‚ the timelines where he killed everyone and the timelines where he killed everyone-#aren't different in any meaningful way #even if flowey spent every reset helping people‚ it would really change much #he still undid his actions. he didnt do those things because he was a good or bad person #he did them because he could #i think most people would do the same #idk. i think its fine to be a flowey hater‚ but i think it's good to actually UNDERSTAND his actions first #god i wish i was better at talking about things better #this should prooobably stay in drafts but i need to get this out of my brain #sorry
