Thr palworld lawsuit is really getting to me because from what I can tell the thing Nintendo is looking to sue over is some patent violation (meaning they're going after gameplay similarities) and not, like, the fact that almost literally every single pal has design aspects mishmashed from existing pokemon. The only things palworld's gameplay really has in common with pokemon is that you throw a ball apparatus at a creature to capture it and then you can use this creature to fight. This feels like Nintendo pulling out some insane technicality because they own the patent for the capture system's details to get palworld stricken down.

#august.chr #i'm mixed on whether palworld like Deserves to be taken down or not. bc like #it's very much a ripoff. particularly in the creature designs. near every pal is the composite sum of a bunch of different pkmn's dna #but the core gameplay really isn't similar to pokemon in a meaningful way. it's an exploration/building sim/monster collection game #i'd say nintendo would be justified in getting palworld if it was over the creature designs but it feels like they are just digging for the #absolute most banal technicality they can catch palworld on to justify their obvious core beef with the game #which i feel sets a pretty bad precedent. there's only so many ways to catch creatures man do u want palworld to have a Capture Gun that #shoots Capture Bullets #idk. i think i'd be a little bummed if palworld gets fucked over since i think the game has potential #but mainly i'd just be bummed that nintendo's playing dirty to get it
