#the posts about medical professionals being assholes online are typically correct and valid#but also the immense amount of stress in the medical field is absolute ass. I only did low level grunt work for a year and was not OK#like. yes they're people. but once you see enough people you start to put a price on their life.#you start to know which is the ten minute patient and which is the hour-and-a-half one.#when the answer is give them sleeping pills or go cry in your car for half an hour and get off work two hours late.#which choice are you going to make? what about the second night? the third? the fourth? the fifth?#yes. all human life is valuable and precious and deserves love and care. but you how long before that sentiment gets worn down#the best nurses I worked with were the ones who cared a lot but were still total hardasses.#the ones who do care but know better than to show it at work.#how else are you going to survive 60 hour work weeks in hell#idk.
