ive spoken about it before but i have a bone to pick with a lot of fic regarding nightwing #93 — that a lot of them bend canon to insult other characters (roy, kory, babs) decenter dick from his own trauma to make other characters look better, can sometimes be insincere depictions of assault, etc — so this is like. kinda a response to that

the thesis for persephone and wolf king and all the other (eventual) fics in the series is a graysons nature is to perform, and is an examination of dick graysons legacy. this is gonna be yet another fic about assault as told from someone who isn’t dick, so how can dick remain centred in the story? how does it portray his particular struggles with autonomy and control? how can it be compared with the people in his life — kory and babs have also experienced a profound loss of control and autonomy, etc.

idk i think trying to incorporate the change from dick grayson being a serious monogamist to someone with more partners is also interesting. how would he handle being in a relationship with someone who knows what he was like before, and might be able to accurately deduce what inspired said change? i also think it’s interesting to think about what justice looks like in this context? dick doesn’t want anyone to hurt or kill her on his behalf. he doesn’t want to talk about it. im pretty sure the closest thing we got to an actual confrontation was dick telling bruce about blockbuster in the cave, and bruce dismissing his concerns because he values dick’s life more

like…. what would the actual aftermath be if u kept something buried so deeply for so long and someone knows u enough to find out anyway?

I've been editing like crazy but the youtube algorithm won't let me post my 20min edit of HRWB #3 - Next World Lovin' (A day in the life of Rick Grimes) without butchering my work. Looks like I won't be able to finish this series with a bang like I hoped.

So here's a load of stills to give you an idea since for now, all my hours on it just went down the drain. I still want to share something though, as I know others are just like me :) Maybe I'll share snippets, bits by bits... :(

Whyyy Ô Whyyy ?

My Richonne rabbit hole originally started with an Ultimate Edit From the prison to Alexandria. It was right after watching The Ones Who Live as it was released and I needed to go back and re-experience Richonne all over again. Unfortunately, it was too long of an edit and my hardware could not keep up...

That's when I took on smaller endeavours, exploring the origins of Richonne further from behind the scenes. I love listening to Danai talking about her work. So many actors tend to respond quite superficially to questions about their characters, Danai has such a profound understanding of Michonne, it shows both on and off screen and I'm here for all of it.

Then, I've explored more behind the scenes with Andrew and Danai's chemistry, and how it showed and still shows up on screen years later, and have many of us hooked, locked in a love chokehold everytime we see Rick and Michonne gazing into each others' eyes. That's how HRWB #2 came to become Dandy On Set and Off.

Yes, I'm fluffy like that and have no shame about it :)

Anyway...

I'll still try to edit further HRWB#3 and share it with you what I can, but I need to cut back my Richonne hours and find new ways to engage with the fandom if I can't find a better solution.

My series How Richonne Was Born was supposedly a lighter prelude to the deeper and more interesting work I want to share (see The Ones Who Love Live On teaser). Might take a while though, as I work too slow for the algo, so don't hesitate to sub to check me out here, on youtube and twitter to follow the work.

And yes, I'm gonna get even fluffier with these ones, and a lot more political too. Fingers crossed!

hi dee! this is gonna be such a long message and i hope u read the entirety when you got time ♥️ english is not my first language so im sorry if this is not exactly cohesive.

ive been reading ffs since since 2017 and i really feel u came right out of the 2017-2020 era of bts x reader fanfic community bcs the way u write makes me reminisce about those times. idk if this is just me being picky, but i feel like fics nowadays are focusing too much on the smutty parts instead of actually building a world around their characters. and i dont usually mind smut or pwp fics, i enjoy them time to time. but the problem with it is that it's honestly all i ever see now, esp with jungkook fics.

it feels like no one really wants to write a proper fanfic anymore? some of my fave x reader authors before here are gukyi, vankoya, btsmeetsweevil, kpopfanfictrash, fortunexkookie, prolixitae and many more that i cant really name anymore – all of which have deactivated or inactive now – and one thing about them was that as much as they wrote smut, there was actually more to their stories.

and that is honestly what i feel about your writing. its so simple but so profound in a way? like its so easily digestible but the simplicity of it does not exactly equate to plainness? i feel like the trend of writing pwp is to gain more traction (which was also a trend back then, but not to the point of overpowering) but i love that you dont exactly succumb to that and instead take time to build the world of ur characters in such a way that makes me feel so connected to them.

i just LOVEE how u create these backstory for ur main leads. like with nb, we are witnessing two strangers getting along with each other slowly but surely, and with tlp, we are witnessing two best friends navigating a crucial point in their lives relating to romance between them. and the YEARNING, the LONGING, and just the TENSION that you make me feel with those? its just so incredibly insane. the giddiness of it all – you dont get that from fics who just go straight right into sex.

and i know its just fanfiction and its not supposed to be that deep, but tbh fanfic is just as much of a form of art as other "published books" – esp when theyre written so well like yours.

i apologize if this is coming off as a rant at this point. i think im just frustrated with the lack of creativity im seeing nowadays with bts fanfics all over tumblr thru ao3, and ig im just frustrated that i cant bring back the golden era of 2017-2019 (or 2020 if u will) anymore for fanfics. but thank you so much for reviving that feeling for me♥️ i also know youre busy with college and all that, and im really really greatful you lend time to share ur writing with us all for free ♥️ i really adore your talent!! i hope u write for a long time ♥️♥️

this has been sitting on my inbox for the past three days and ive honestly just been rereading and rereading this over and over again because im so incredibly touched?

i agree that 2017-2020 was the best era for x reader bts ff esp 2018. writers were really putting in the work, and i just love how you mentioned all those lovely people. miss guyi (gukyi), miss ivory (vankoya), and miss lu (prolixitae) were some of my favorite blogs here EVER and they wrote some of the best fanfics in my life that i still read over and over again up to this time. they were literally a few of my inspo to also write fanfic on my own – and im so glad u think that my writing can make u feel like the way u do when u read theirs, bcs that means a whole lot to me!!

the bts fanfic community has truly changed for the past few years. prob cos the fandom has grown bigger overtime and things will just never be the same as they were before. its a huge factor that the great ff writers before are busy with their adult lives now and even if i myself am not really that much into reading ffs anymore these days, i still believe we'll pick up being better on the oncoming years!!

a couple things keep bugging me about gwitch analysis today, namely, because of course, el5n and norea. I think I got a totally different read on what happened and where everyone’s head is at.

“El5n fell in love and shed his selfishness!” I mean, did he really though? Or did he find his damaged goblin nightmare girl and see her as a vehicle to a better life? not that there’s anything “wrong” with this if we’re trying to humanize this character- inserting someone into your dreams is a very, very human thing to do.

“Norea felt it too!” idk, idk, idk. Strong disagree. El5n professes what he thinks is possibly love, and Norea’s first thought is Sophie. There’s no hopefulness when she starts to reply to him; if anything, she looks resigned to a potential constellation prize. And I fully believe she entered the suit ready to die with such sincerity that Sadboy Number Five isn’t gonna be the one to pull her from that headspace. She’d like to know his name because they’re having an exchange as humans, as individuals, not because she’s ready to hitch her star to his plan. The end of hope, indeed.

And then on the flip side, there’s those who are pissed that his declaration came out seemingly nowhere. You’re right, it did come out of nowhere! As an act of desperation. As an act of attaching oneself fully to someone else without even having your own since of self.

Pull the romance from this moment, and I feel like there’s something far more profound and interesting here.

more time passes the more i become tired of people talking about how much they haaaate small talk and how meaningless it is etc etc and acting like theyre special and enlightened for it. cause i used to be that person too but then yknow. i started like. actually engaging with people. instead of taking greetings and "how are you?" and "whats up?" as like an inconvenience to my clearly superior intellect or whatever i take them as what they are, ways to start a small conversation where sure, were not gonna delve into any deep profound upsetting Real topics, because those are not always appropriate or relevant or desirable to discuss, but we can have a pleasant chat. i found out it can actually be quite nice to ask someone what they do for a living if youre willing to be interested in them, and ask "so what does that job entail day to day? are you enjoying it?" and respond to what they tell you about it with interest and ask further questions if theyre open to them, etc. like. a lot of small talk is just a nice moment and tells you a little bit about another person and their world and it doesnt need to be about a Deep Subject to be worth your time. other people can be worth your time even if theyre not blowing your mind or immediately delving into super involved philosophical conversations with you or, frankly, listening to you vent, which seems to be the gripe a lot of people have with people politely asking "how are you". like, idk, my time is not so goddamn precious that i cant spare a minute to share in the small bits of life with another person. in fact i think doing so is a better use of my time than brooding about how much i hate normies who make small talk could ever be.

Reading ACOK and there are three fatal mistakes I think Tyrion makes

He tells too many goddamn people that he hates Cersei and would love to torture and kill her.

He slaps Shae when she gets shitty with him for not standing up to his father on her behalf.

He sends the Vale wildlings away and is stuck with only Bronn’s sellswords, and he knows they are not trustworthy.

I get why he’s so shitty with Cersei and it’s not like she doesn’t give it right back to him, but for a man who is always keenly aware of how unfairly he is perceived, he sure doesn’t spare a second thought for how Tywin, Joffrey, and Cersei are all gonna take him threatening to rape Tommen, telling Varys he’d love to murder Cersei, locking up Pycelle without checking in with a single other Lannister, purposefully sending all her guards away, slapping around Joffrey, and all of this while Jaime is nowhere in the area to run interference. Tyrion is the definition of the trope “poking the tiger.” He simply doesn’t know when to stop when it comes to his family, and especially to Cersei, or how Tywin, who hates him for being a dwarf and refuses to name him heir after Jaime has been on the kingsguard for nearly two decades, and how Cersei, who he knows has this weird and disturbing obsession and hatred of him since childhood, are going to react to the shit he says and does. If Ned’s ultimate sin in KL is that he doesn’t go far enough, Tyrion is the flipside of constantly going too far. Yeah man, Cersei isn’t gonna react well when you threaten to rape her son. IDK what else to tell you.

He is not at all consistent with Shae in what he asks of her. He expects loyalty and affection but the only time he ever tells her about his own life is when he’s telling her horrific stories about Tysha. He clearly sets up their relationship to be “live in girlfriend” and when she gets annoyed because she’s not living the live in girlfriend life, he slaps her for not understanding his fear of his father. Shae goes from being a jokey, bubbly, seductive girlfriend to completely deferring to him after this. It has a very profound affect on her and it reads to me like the moment she realizes being with Tyrion might be more dangerous than it’s worth (and she’s right but she has no way of escaping).

As for the Vale wildlings…he’s just an idiot for this akskkd. The other two “fatal” flaws are steeped in his trauma surrounding his family but this one is just him being an air headed noble, a Lannister believing the world will always bow to him because he’s a cut above the rest. He knows damn well it’s a dumb thing to do because the wildlings are loyal to him for a longer term purpose while Bronn will jump ship the minute he’s offered a better prize. But he puts all his eggs in Bronn’s lil sellsword basket and Bronn stomps all over them just like he has always promised he would!

i think deco 27 songs ever since vampire and onwards don't really hit at all excluding salamander, deco really peaked there it was a very nice song

i just finished listening to his latest song, rabbit hole and compared to zombies or journey it's definitely better but it feels kinda idk maybe im just missing his less upbeat style (that's definitely the case) because all these songs feel lukewarm to me at best and i feel like the lukewarm thing can apply to many more

i also think when voca-p's make songs for the sake of prsk it never goes right because they release it in vocaloid with human singing in mind and i was never really a fan of the prsk covers, im sure there are some good ones but so far overall its a very hit or miss thing with most going miss

because i think in most cases vocaloid songs are sang through vocaloid for a reason and it has to be made with vocaloid in mind and majority songs made for prsk felt mid (cosmospice didn't do anything for me despite my overflowing love for Pinocchio-p)

i know im sounding like a huge pissed off vocaloid "i think im better than you prsk lovers, i play project diva im a real one" person but dont get me wrong i love how vocaloid is getting a revival through prsk and the new genre/style of vocaloid is booming and i have a profound respect for people who play prsk and are good at it, i can clear up til 9.5 ex/exex songs on project diva all i want but i somehow cant do shit on proseka and watching gameplay is always amazing

i do admit they bang and i like the people who are discovering or even rediscovering vocaloid due to the resurge and i do admit some human covers of vocaloid originals do them justice (ahem miyuu ahem) this is just a very in general observation

im pretty much navigating through multiple topics but another thing im gonna add is nowadays i personally dont see heavy story telling based songs a lot i might be shit at finding them so if anyone sees this and think i am so wrong please prove me wrong with those sweet sweet YouTube/nico nico links but anyways things like the evillious chronicles hell not even that much even things like what hitoshizuku x yama does or the shama series

i also kinda miss how the artists draw the vocaloids themselves for the characters in the story or songs just outright about vocaloids interacting with other vocaloids like a little slice of life but i dont really want to complain too much because seeing individual and iconic designs for songs is also nice

i think thats all, my head stores a lot of thoughts towards vocaloid wait til you see me talking about MEIKO and her tuning and how i grieve for her everyday because I've found so many songs that sound nice but the way people tune her breaks the song but in the cases where she it tuned skilfully i drop down to my knees in amazement and i will stop there because i know i might spiral into this whole separate thing

I’ll be honest I was expecting oc and jk’s first time to be a bit more emotional and profound… and it still was but not in the way I would’ve expected at all lol. Not saying it was bad, I actually enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t like what I expected. The pacing of it was a bit fast and I was like woah wait they’re just gonna go for it like that? but I think it showed how much they truly desired each other. Shameless oc is a heart stopper and it’s very intriguing and endearing how playful and blunt oc is as well. I know oc can be emotional but I forgot how much of a firecracker they can be and this drabble showcased it perfectly… you just don’t know what to expect with them and it makes sense why they have jk’s heart beating out of his chest😂 and jk just being willing to do whatever it is they want? Sigh they really don’t make men like that these days haha. Either way just wanted to share my thoughts hope that’s okay. Rewatched ep2 of The Gilded Age last night, and when they get to the Russells', Anne says "so this is what Dido felt when she was about to throw herself onto the flaming pyre."

Either Anne (or Fellowes) isn't that clever, or I'm not understanding Dido's story.

Dido, first of all, stabs herself (idk if the pyre's already burning by then or not). So that's one thing. Secondly, she's doing so because she has been abandoned. Who has abandoned Anne? Patrick? (Babe, he's holding your hand.)

The only way I can figure it is that Anne is basically saying she's only doing this because she loves him. But also, that's an imperfect metaphor.

I assume it's meant to be foreshadowing, but it's sloppy, right? Patrick's the one who kills himself, and sure, he abandons Anne to pick up the pieces. But does that suggest that she, too, will commit (more suicidey) suicide in s2 (which I expect not bc she's too tenacious for that)?

The most it tells us is that Anne is a literature/mythology/opera girlie. And that this dinner is gonna kill somebody.

Or, if we're gonna put the queer reading on it, it possibly foreshadows, not Patrick's death, but Aurora's betrayal. Aurora agrees to bring Bertha into society, and abandons Anne ("you'll deny it but you will"). Does Anne then fulfill the story of Dido and destroy herself? Or does she live to see the vision at the end of Berlioz' Les Troyens come to pass? That the old city will be defeated by the immortal new.

Again, I can see similarities, but I think the line is wasted. Because again, Anne is referring to committing social suicide, but without having first been abandoned. It doesn't follow.

Because I don't think Anne is dumb. I think she is incredibly adept at operating within the rules of NY society. I mean, she sits next to Mrs. Astor at luncheon. It's just that the Russells have so much money, they are capable of breaking the game. There's no playbook for her here, and Patrick never tells her why he needs her to get cozy with Bertha.

So why would she make a reference that makes no sense?

She should be referencing Joan of Arc. Being burned for the crime of defending her homeland from the invaders (she def called the Russells invaders). The profound injustice, the political overtones, her firm conviction that she is correct. It fits much better.

I fear next year is gonna be super boring, at least last year we had 4 competent riders on the ducati so there was a little more variety, maybe one week marc was gonna win, maybe jorge, maybe enea. But for next year we’re just gonna have marc and pecco and I have zero hopes for the aprilias or ktm to develop a championship winner bike so. And the racing quality (mostly because of those giant bikes and their obsession with aero) has also gone downhill. Yes maybe pecco and marc will fight a little bit during the year but I fear its gonna be a pretty boring season anyway.

y'know, this is only tangentially related, but I've realised the calendar isn't well designed for a marc/pecco title fight. obviously that's not the fault of the calendar but it's still kind of annoying. like,, we start with this:

that's terrible. these are all tracks that lean marc, rather heavily so in the case of cota. I'd assumed argentina wasn't happening but word on the street is it might actually return to us, which I'd be happy about but does mean it gives marc a bit of a chance to build up an early buffer. you kinda feel like two of these weekends could easily be 37's. for the health of the championship, his bike needs to fall apart somewhere here

I also really really don't like this:

that's four tracks in a row that heavily favour one or the other. they're basically specialist tracks. while marc might challenge for victory at mugello or assen, if he wins at any of those I think it's fairly safe to say we're unlikely to be witnessing a great championship fight. so we go into four weekends in a row where we broadly think we already know the winner - and in two of those, one rider very much needs to be the winner for things to be competitive. that's where momentum goes to die. you want your specialist tracks sprinkled in throughout the season as a bit of a reset point, for spice. you don't want them all crammed in one stretch of the season as if you're trying to get rid of them

think my general hope is we should try to keep it looking competitive in that post-summer break pre-flyaway stretch, and then give up for the flyaways. also, with all my love to and profound respect for the nation of hungary, but probably for the best if that track isn't ready quite yet

anyway. on the season. idk, I'm looking forward to it! I do want to see the title fight play out between these two because on paper it is just such a juicy prospect. even if I'm keeping my expectations low, both in terms of how competitive it'll be and how much narrative juice it'll have. I hope being told fifty million times how well bagnaia and marquez get on will age poorly, for instance. the nightmare version of this season is where they split like.... twenty of the twenty two (?) races between the pair of them, almost always finish 2-5 seconds ahead of each other, one of them's both faster and less likely to fall off and there's no real championship narrative from early on. tbh at that point it's just like... idk man, you don't have to be hype about every season, I'll probably still tune into the main races (I am NOT tuning into sprints without a competitive title fight) and go about my business. sometimes the sport goes through a bit of a dull period - hopefully michelin will have developed a new front tyre for next year and that + the regs change for 2027 + competitive reordering will eventually make the sport more fun again

but also. it could be more fun than that! ducati is inevitably going to be more vulnerable now - they have a depleted rider pool and fewer bikes. also like,,, they can't be that dominant FOREVER. say what you will about ducati, but dall'igna did say before last season that the gp24 was a substantial step forwards from the gp23. they did warn us! and they're not saying that about the gp25, which has to give you a little bit of hope. the pool of talent is also theoretically better spread now - aprilia has a proper star rider in the form of martin who has shown he can be both fast and consistent, ktm has acosta in his second season, yamaha might finally be able to take advantage of quartararo's talents again. there's serious question marks over all of those, most obviously around ktm's future of course. but like... they can't ALL suck forever. I think the field will be more competitive, I think more non-ducati riders will win races, I think we can hustle up a cute little aprilia silverstone win or a brno ktm win or even a yamaha indonesia win. it's tougher for two guys to completely lock out the top of the competition than it is for four - more stuff can go wrong for two guys. and hey, if all else fails, there were three races in 2024 where both marc and pecco crashed. idk I think with motorsports you kinda need to find stuff to care about that isn't just the fight for the win and/or the championship narrative... admittedly that would be easier to do if motogp did a better job at not just showing the first few bikes. but it's not THAT dire

- ani IS nice. she’s suspicious in undercover princess but she never actually does anything cruel or mean. her heart is in the right place (ani defender) (still upset that she got sidelined at the end)

- okay the story is really haunting but i'm failing to see the plot relevance? is lottie upset due to the intensity of emotions displayed by ester and liana? and that she feels that intense emotion with ellie too ? idk. is it a metaphor? i'd love input on this.

Anyway have some fun facts about the gods:

The moon god's gender changes along with the cycle of the moon

The sun goddess' body produces a lot of heat (for obvious reasons). Sun burns are a sign of high status because it means you were invited into her personal space. Also darker skinned people are ones whose family has been very high status for a very long time, because they've live closer to the palace and so in a much hotter climate. Basically social power is all about how close you are to the sun goddess

The only exception is that magic users/priests have higher status than everyone, despite the temples usually being on the furthest edges of the kingdom, because their connection to the sun goddess is more profound than mere physical proximity. They have specific attire to demonstrate that status

The sun and moon gods are simultaneously toxic yuri and foundational fratricide, because they were like. "Married" but also theyre the two gods who existed at the dawn of time or whatever so they basically "grew up" with each other. Pseudo incest win!

The history that people are taught is that the moon god created the kingdom and humanity but needed to put their soul into humanity to bring them to life, so they basically died and the sun goddess took over ruling the kingdom to honour them

Im still working out the details of what really happened but it involves the sun putting the moon into a magic coma so that she could have total power over their kingdom

Where the kingdom meets the ocean, near the Palace of the sun goddess, are the Salt Wastes. These are a stretch of land where the tide washes in, but the heat from the sun goddess rapidly evaporates the water, leaving behind thick layers of salt and making the land toxic for vegetation. Because the tides are associated with the moon, this is symbolic of the push and pull for power between the two gods, and the devastation they leave in their wake

Theres gonna be some sort of climax where the sun and moon goddess have to fight. Or something. Idk but what I do know is that there'll be a solar eclipse when it happens

The sun goddess is kind of a cruel ruler so there's gonna be some kind of resistance once the moon wakes up, which is looking to usurp the sun and give the moon control of the kingdom. But like. While the moon is more benevolent than the sun, they're still ultimately a god and therefore divorced from human life and they have a lot of power to abuse, deliberately or not. The idea is to set them up as the perfect ruler to take over, and then to slowly reveal that this is far from the case

This is reflected in their relationships with the leading priestess, Sidera (my favourite character my babygirl my anguished lesbian). As a priestess of the sun goddess, she has a secret fucked up toxic devotion relationship with the sun goddess, which. Remember how people end up with sun burn in her presence? Yeah so Sidera gets very badly burned when they have sex, and the sun goddess often removes the burns immediately after just for extra mind fuckery. Sometimes Sidera's unsure whether they were even there in the first place. But Sidera eventually finds and wakes the moon goddess, and gets to know them in secret, and learns that she can have a better relationship with a god than what she and the sun goddess have. That's what shakes her loyalty and causes her to switch sides to help the revolution, becoming the first priestess of the moon instead

BUT thanks to the shitty relationships they both had with the sun, Sidera has ended up with an extreme need to devote herself to someone entirely (if you think that sounds similar to another character of mine shhhhh) and the moon has ended up with control issues so they kinda make each other worse, culminating with Sidera sacrificing herself to the moon in order to give them the power to defeat the sun. So like. The moon is better to Sidera than the sun was, but still not good

Also on that note, ultimately the story will show that neither the sun or the moon are good enough rulers, you need a secret third option: earth, as in humans. But Sidera's name was taken from the Latin for "stars", so she's always been associated with celestial bodies and although she's instrumental to defeating the sun she was never destined to live in the human-led world that results from it. She's too deep in the habit of worship for that

Also I'm considering whether I want there to be multiple nations, each with their own gods and maybe even their own magic systems but idk how to like. Handle that in the story lol. But it's inspired by misunderstanding an episode of jrwi apotheosis and briefly thinking there were loads of different pantheons each tied to different countries

i used to speak spanish so well and then i started school and excelled at english. and i take pride in my profound vocabulary,,, for the english language,,,but ive practically forgotten all my spanish. like i was better at spanish when i was a 4 year old. and my family members tease me all the time sighhh but i really love my culture and stuff abd recently ive been listening to boleros and stuff and challenging myself to speak spanish every few days and i can definitely say im better at spanish now than i was 2 years ago! also its okay to have a lot of things to learn, because so does everybody!! nobodys perfect, nobodys knows all.

I KIND OF HAVE THAT SAME THING WITH PORTUGUESE except i was never really good at it. I come from a region where overall people make grammatical errors speaking portuguese but that's normal here, we understand each other fine but if some portuguese guy from the continent came here it'd take them a couple tries understanding a sentence we say </3

I've pretty much known english the best and i've spoken it more often than portuguese AND know more english than portuguese, i call that gringo syndrome (as a JOKE. i'm JOKIIINGGG)

I love english honestly, Portugal and England have the longest friendship in history after all so it's pretty much meant to be. I've made so many friends! i'm able to express myself much easier in english!! do better research for projects!!!

I have a lot of love for the english language and i wouldn't be myself if i never learnt it.

As for myy mother land,, culture,,..., Portugal..,,....,. eeehhhhhhhhhhh i have complicated feelings. It's much more personal and a me problem so i'mma just leave it at that.

I do wish that Taylor was a little bit more out there or referential with her visuals because that’s what really moves culture, and she has the biggest opportunity to make those statements rn. I went to the v&a recently for an exhibition about divas throughout history, mainly focused on fashion but also music, film, feminism etc and they included all manners of artists and actors in the display but not taylor. I don’t think taylor’s visuals are bad, and it’s fine if she’s not into it, but it’s a bit of a shame seeing the potential for her to have a better artistic direction with the skill set she has go to waste. She’s stuck with beth as her album photographers for her last like 8 releases.

so just for another perspective - that’s also imo why Taylor is TAYLOR idk and the most successful musician in history imo. She can mean anything to any of us. She talks to human feelings and she creates general imagery that’s relatable to most people and that’s why very few people (not saying no one because taste is subjective) would hate her entire discography or everything about her style. She’s vanilla but I say that in the best way. We can interpret what she says differently but ultimately she’s relatable and nice sounding and appealing for the vast majority of people on the globe. That’s a huge achievement.

My bf isn’t a huge Taylor fan (I’ve mentioned this before) and imo misunderstands her more profound songs and obvi I’m not gonna expect him to love SIO looool because he likes yk words and shit and his ear drums and also common sense but he finds a few songs super cute and he does like dancing to Blank Space (who wouldn’t) so he doesn’t dislike her and he would 100% go to a concert if the opportunity arises (he just wouldn’t travel for her). He feels exactly the same way about her as about The Beatles, whom he also is deeply meh about and thinks their songs are either trite and silly or that they’re shit they wrote when tripping balls and so he doesn’t dig either of their sounds entirely??

but like there’s a reason more than half of Taylor and The Beatles’s discography is recognizable in any part of the globe. And it’s also why only certain songs of big “diva” artists are (not even gender specific I’d say some of Elvis’s album songs would be less recognized than Taylor or The Beatles’ are idk) 🤷🏻‍♀️

there’s making genuine change in culture and there’s doing something new and exciting and then there’s just creating good music anyone anywhere can enjoy.

wednesday - thursday

missed my friend's birthday today.

cuz i was sick. my gf went though (i hope i didn't spread through her (but probably)). i think he had a good time, my friend, and my gf had a good time with them all. it means a lot to me that she can go hang out with them and not be like, uncomfortable, there's people there who talk to her and value her thoughts and company and treat her like a human. this shouldn't be special, but it is. obviously, there's also guys there who aren't awful but are mostly among dudes. they treat me like an in-between thing i guess, when i'm around. something about that is gratifying to see written out, in-between thing, but idk, i feel more allied with the side that isn't those guys, than them. those guys also treat our transmasc friend weird as well. they treat me less weird than him because i'm older to the friendgroup, and our friend whose birthday it was, he's the one who brings us all together, i'm very vvery close with him. they don't treat our transmasc friend horribly weird, but still. i'm really only talking about like...4 of a group of over 10. these ones are the super weedbro contingent. idk though, i really like everyone basically. only one guy bothers me and he just treats everyone weird.

having fun waiting for ableton to open after it just crashed after opening.

i feel like i can at fix some of a problem with the one song i got to today, the mix for this one just seems very hard to get to the bottom of, something seems very wrong with it but i don't know what. it's, in my mind, right now, the vocals, they're muddy and dark, and idk what i am doing wrong, so i'm gonna try and use a vocal group from another song and slot the takes into that, using that fx chain. maybe that will help clear it up, but i'm worried the issue is these takes themselves.

i did get that drum idea down, i think, or something like it, an evolution of that, really happy about that. i hope this song comes out right on export, it's such a weird pain.

another weird pain today, but i won't go into it, because it's basically pathetic. there's just certain things that i'll end up seeing if i go on twitter and it makes me go kind of crazy. i don't know why that kind of thing is like basically a trigger for me. why is that a potential trigger, seeing people going crazy on something meaningless because they are miserable, it should be able to pass through me and be nothing, but i can't deal, it makes me feel bad and like i need to escape, it's also a place where i see people with such vehement opinions about bodies basically, or that's what i saw today, that it makes me question what i am/if i even belong to any kind of community or whatever. being so online really only increased my alienation towards larger groups. some people are so joyful in spreading what is basically a kind of super negative method of self appraisal and seeing oneself in the world, they hide behind it being some kind of hard truth, it's so ugly though. i wish people stopped spreading stuff from /lgbt/ basically, the whole worldview it basically has developed/allowed to fester. it's seriously so awful and people kind of bandy it/its language about like it makes you cool in some kind of edgy way.

it's always profound how lame everyone ends up being, on the other end of the sludge-spew.

anyways, the thing exported, i'll listen tomorrow, maybe i'll be a better judge then. currently i'm just thinking about how this funny is now:

every tiime i clicked on one of these because it seemed utterly psychotic, it reminded me of being in a hospital waiting room, seeing people there for reasons i could not imagine, doing insane things, fluorescent nausea. why was every one of them so sexualized too, did any regular blogger ever do those things.
