#idk if he's physically capable of that after being in a coma

I know “and he was in a coma all along” is an edgy cringe theory for most series, but my version for Svsss is that Shen Yuan’s soul did get transported to another fantasy world, but his family found his body in time to keep it from dying. They have more money than god and have been spending it to keep his body going for years (very much like Luo Binghe, honestly he would probably relate). This can have a tragic edge where he never wakes up, but if the System ever sends Shen Yuan back for some petty reason, he would probably question if everything actually happened or not. Unless the System pops up just to be like “I never said you were dead :)” (Binghe finds him and gets him back within a month, but things were probably getting pretty rough for both of them for a minute).
ohhh the idea of the Shen family keeping his comatose body alive the same way Binghe preserved his corpse is FUCKED, I love it. can you imagine waking up from a coma after having lived in a fantasy world for like twenty years where you were gay married to a demon. what. how do you even go back to normal life after that. I'm imagining this ending with an absolutely distraught man in xianxia style clothing barging into the hospital/house/wherever the family is like WHERE IS SHIZUN!!!!!! brandishing a sword and everything, and the only thing keeping them from calling the fucking cops is that Shen Yuan is fucking THRILLED to see him and yelled at anyone who tried to escort this strange man with a sword out of the premises
#asks#anonymous#i imagine sy would be Pretty Depressed for a bit after waking up in the modern world again#like it's nice to see his family again#but he had a whole life in the pidw world#one that seems to be much more fulfilling than his old life#and he left behind his whole HUSBAND#and we know how miserable he gets when forcibly separated from binghe for any longer than like a week#so when binghe rips his way through the universes to end up in the shen living room#looking absolutely DISTRAUGHT and half crazed#shen yuan probably fucking launches himself at binghe#idk if he's physically capable of that after being in a coma#but he does his best#he at least lights up more than he has in a while#he probably starts crying though i doubt he'd admit that#binghe DEFINITELY starts crying as soon as he realizes it's shizun#so the rest of the shen family is like ??? watching their youngest son crying and smiling#and clinging to this absurdly beautiful definitely insane man in xianxia robes with a SWORD#who is ALSO crying and clinging to sy and calling him shizun#sy tells them this is his husband and they'd think he was fucking with them if not for the fact that this man appeared out of thin air#so clearly something strange is afoot#personally i think most of sy's family knew he was gay so the husband thing is less of a surprise#but the whole. demon from another dimension thing is. a bit of a shock.

I know you’ve mentioned how Karlheinz seems to favor Ayato as the candidate for Adam (as seen through his actions/words in YB and DF) and I honestly feel like this is further evidence that Ayato is the most “upright” of his brothers. In Ayato’s MB Ecstasy Epilogue, Karlheinz mentions that vampires are attracted to evil and need to be set on the right path; then again in DF he says a main motive of the Adam and Eve plan was to create a vampire with human sentiments, as the loss of emotion in vampires made them inferior to humans in that sense. In my opinion the reason he seems to favor Ayato is because he’s the one most capable of expressing selfless sentiments, progressing as a person, being “pure-hearted” (as I know Rejet has described him as before), and just overall being compassionate, and these traits fit perfectly into the motives for the Adam and Eve plan mentioned above. Idk if this exact topic has been addressed before (and I’m just beating a dead horse lol), but I just thought your opinions were interesting and wanted to share my own thoughts! Also I love your commentary and analysis on the series/characters, it’s always super fun to read! <3
// Aww, I’m glad you enjoy them! I guess it’s been a while but I’m glad that Anon sent me something that made me return to analysing. 💕
I agree on your take, although I feel like that’s already canon at this point, haha. Ayato has always been highlighted as the most human-like one, even Japanese fans talked about that, but the only reason why some Westerners might disagree is because they know nothing about Ayato to begin with and only judge him based on HDB and MB. While it’s true that he was kinda crazy there, YB revealed that his possessiveness, obsession and blood thirst were due to the curse not trauma. For this reason, comparing Ayato to his brothers in HDB or MB is not fair at all, considering that these are two different situations. His brothers only started getting severe blood thirst symptoms in MB when they were awakening, while Ayato had to deal with those most of his life and even entered in a coma. Ruki's MB route also shows that Ayato is still cursed there and that his brothers noticed how he started going insane exactly after Yui was abducted to the point where they decided to lock him in the dungeon because he couldn't function without her blood anymore.
And speaking of the curse, I think many people don't treat it seriously enough. Imagine being physically and mentally tortured but still attempting to help and sacrifice yourself for others when your kindness is being abused in the worst way conceivable. That fig literally sucked the life out of him and he had to slowly watch himself fall into madness without being able to control it.

Nevertheless, Ayato is still able to be forgiving and compassionate towards those who have wronged him with or without dating Yui. He can be driven by some factors to do bad things, but his purity cannot be taken away; even Cordelia stated that there is something different about him and she’s not the type to say such stuff out of the blue. That’s why his routes are considered the ideal outcome of the story, they make the most sense and Ayato getting the happy ending with Yui is the most satisfying. I mean, every Diaboy deserves a happy ending but in all honesty, I wouldn't want the people whose words and actions have caused my life to be destroyed to find love before me either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

BNHA Chapter 312 Spoiler Analysis: Hero Turned Assassin
It’s Friday, my dudes! That means the leaks for the new chapter is out! This time, we’re focusing on our new lady assassin villain who we ended with last week. Ngl, I love her design and concept. I actually wouldn’t mind if she stepped on me 😳 All that aside, this was a damn good chapter, but I really hope Deku’s going to be ok taking her on by himself:
Alright, the chapter starts off with a little flashback of Hawks talking to Deku as Deku is suiting up to leave Central hospital. Hawks reassures Deku that he should be ok from AFO and Shigaraki for now since they aren’t at full power yet. Their best option would be to take Deku in alive rather than dead. Hawks can only think of one person who might be capable of capturing Deku: the assassin woman. Turns out, that woman was his senpai back at the Hero Safety Commision and she’s dangerous.
So, as far as we know, Deku’s most likely going to live several more days even if he does get captured. However, he’s being hunted down by a highly skilled assassin who was also Hawk’s senpai back in the day. The fact that Hawks of all people is warning Deku to run away from her if he can say something about her skills. I can only guess how good her skills are, but I’d say they’re probably somewhere in the S-tier range if Hawks is afraid of her.
The next couple of pages help properly introduce our new villain: Lady Nagant! A few points here: 1. The bullet is made from her hair which is colored dark blue and pink. I personally love those two colors, so I’m glad to see that color scheme used on her. Also hair bullets is such a great concept, 2. That rifle is definitely coming from her elbow which she can bring out and retract at will, which is badass as hell, 3. I looked up the word “Nagant” and it’s actually type of (Russian?) gun that ranges from a 7-shot revolver to a sniper rifle, so that’s a good Villain name for her, 4. She was a former hero under the Safety Commision who decided to go to the dark side for some reason. Like, did she see the bad side of Hero Society and that caused her to change? Did she see something in Villainy that caused her to change her POV? I want to know what?, 5. Again, love her design like hoo boy, Horikoshi snapped with her.
So, Deku’s on the run from her and he is completely on his own now that his phone is broken. He doesn’t even know what happened to All Might 😭! He’s also afraid that All Might and Hawks will be targeted by her. Deku’s debating wheaher he should run or face Nagant face on. With someone like Muscular, I wasn’t worried about Deku because he’s not only improved a lot since last time, but he’s taken on Muscular before so he knew what he was fighting. But, this is a brand-new villain. Not much is known about her and Deku has never fought her before. I’d say run, but someone has to take her out. Maybe Hawks will swoop in and have a reunion with his senpai. Though, he doesn’t have wings now, so I’m not sure what he can really do against her besides have a chat…
And Deku is shot! Not fatally thank god, but he did get hit. Turns out Lady Nagant can actually curve her shots. Even Deku’s Danger Sense couldn’t detect it in time good lord. So she can just straight up made bullets that can curve too that is absolutely insane. Any marksman would be jealous of her.
Fun Fact of the Day: Based on Horikoshi-sensei’s comment of the week, Lady Nagant and her curve bullet are actually based off the 2008 film Wanted staring James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie (he even thanked Ms. Jolie!)! I decided to IMDB the film to see if I remembered it and it turns out that I have actually seen a little of it before. You know that gif of McAvoy smacking Chris Pratt’s face with a keyboard and the loose keys spell out “Fuck You”? Yeah, that’s from Wanted. Also, the curved bullet Horikoshi is talking about is when Jolie manages to “curve” a bullet enough to kill a group of assassins who were standing in a circle. Look, I don’t know if physics can actually make that work in real life, but I’ll be damned if that doesn’t sound badass.
Back to the story, we have a bit of flashback to an old TV special that interviewed 100 active Noteworthy Heroes. The 25th Pro Hero being interview is none other than Snipe, one of UA’s teachers! It’s been a hot couple of years since we’ve seen him around. Actually, we don’t even know if he’s alive… Let’s assume he is and continue with the story.
Anyway, Snipe was having some good friendly competition in the Long-Range sniping with Lady Nagant back in the day. He explains while his Quirk, “Homing” allows him to lock-on to anyone within a 600 Meter range, he can’t choose where his attack hits and the hit isn’t that powerful (Shigaraki could’ve actually gotten killed back in the USJ if Snipe wasn’t careful enough damn). Lady Nagant, on the other hand, has a range of 3 Kilometers with insane accuracy. I did some quick calculations and it turns out that 3KM = 3,000M! That’s 5 times farther than what Snipe can do. That is absolutely nuts!
Lady Nagant’s Quirk is called “Rifle”! Turns out that the secret lies in her bullets made out of hair. When she mixes her duel colored hair, it works like epoxy putty. Epoxy putty is a substance that hardens over time. It’s normally used as a seal for cracks and holes, and it’s both highly-resistant and unshrinkable when hardened. So, when Lady Nagant pulls strands out of her hair to mix and mould them, she can harden that hair into a bullet which explains the dark blue and pink fibers in the speaker bullet she fired at Deku’s phone. Apparently, she can make any kind of bullet she wants ranging from hollow bullets to curved bullets. She can then load and fire those bullets from her rifle into her right arm. God, there’s so much potential for a Quirk like this. The only limit I can think of for this Quirk is if she runs out of hair for bullets similar to how if Ibara Shiozaki from Class 1-B (or 2-B now I guess) would run out of hair to use her Vines. I wonder if Lady Nagant using her hair so much is the reason why it’s shorter now than when she was a hero.
I gotta say, I think this is one of the coolest and unique Quirks Horikoshi has come up with in a while. It’s just so unique and imaginative! I don’t think I could ever come up with an idea like this. I like that her Quirk is almost like a 2-in-1 thing: the putty hair and the rifle in her arm. They’re both different functions that work in tandem together. I also love Nagant hero outfit! She was rocking the long ponytail work, had a visor and antenna on her right eye for accuracy, and a belt holding her hair bullets. She’s also freakin’ stacked as hell, but I’ll let this one slide because her design is so freaking great.
Back to the present, Deku managed to catch the bullet, but his left gauntlet has been damaged. So, it looks like Deku won’t be punching with his left arm unless All Might has some backup Mid-Gauntlets. Thankfully he’s found out where Lady Nagant is based on where she shot from just twice. She’s only about 1KM away and Deku wants to get in closer. God, Deku is so freaking smart. I want to know his IQ because it must be insanely high for him to figure out where a trained sniper would be after just 2 bullets. Nagant also says that Deku’s the first one to deflect 2 of her bullets, so yeah, goddamn Deku!
Now we’re finally getting a look at Overhaul (I’m cool with calling him by his villain name instead of his real name for now btw). Dude’s broken. Just completely mentally broken. I don’t think he even notices Deku. All he can think about is how he wants to go back to his adoptive father, Eri’s grandfather, the man Overhaul put in a coma. I thought that Overhaul would be confronting Deku himself, but it looks like he can’t. Maybe him not being able to get his father out of his coma traumatized him real bad with a lot of guilt. He probably wants to go back to try to heal his dad. If he can do that, again, I wonder how now that his Quirk probably functions somewhere else besides his hands.
Anyway, Lady Nagant is kind of protecting Overhaul for now. She most likely has a plan for him later since she mentions helping Overhaul as soon as she’s done with Deku. Overhaul would be a useful ally since his Quirk can literally destroy and restore matter both living and non-living. There’s also that glowing effect on her arm again. If it’s not a taser like I thought before, then maybe it’s some kind of strength enhancer her Quirk gives her. That arm gun has to be heavy. IDK it’s not really explained.
Flashing back to the Tartarus Prision Break, AFO and his ugly mug are talking to Nagant, calling her the “Traitor Hero” and how it’s an honor to meet her. Again, Lady Nagant’s skills must be incredibly high enough to be recognize by AFO. Also, her turning her back on Hero Society must’ve been a big story at the time.
AFO tells Lady Nagant of his plan to capture Deku as he predicted this earlier. So, either AFO is stupidly good at predicting things or he has a future-sight Quirk like Nighteye had. I want to say it’s the latter since AFO probably did pick up a Quirk like that sometime in the past.
Lady Nagant originally refused to listen to AFO in a very sassy way LOL! But, AFO seems to have made a deal with her. He even mentions that Nagant killed many of her fellow heroes to cause the fall of Pro-Hero Society. Yeah, killing your fellow colleagues will definitely get you sent straight to Tartarus… I REALLY need to know what made her turn to the Dark Side Anakin Skywalker style.
Also, personal theory that I highly doubt is true, but I wonder if Lady Nagant is the real “UA Traitor” not any of the students. If she can make bullets that she can remotely talk through, then she could probably make bullets that can eavesdrop on people. Maybe she listened in on UA and told the LoV about the training camp. Or she was locked in Tartarus before then and I’m just projecting my hopes/fears onto her. That could be it too.
Actually, I just realized that she could probably wrap objects around her bullets and fire them. So, she probably wrapped a speaker around her hair and that’s how she remotely spoke to Deku. Eh, she could still wrap some listening device around her hair and eavesdrop that way. I’m just Pepe Silvia’ing the possibilities of Rifle at this point.
AFO uses Overhaul as an example of someone who became a victim of Pro-Heroes. This give him enough leverage to make a deal with Lady Nagant. So, as part of the contract, AFO granted her his Air Walk Quirk! On paper, a passive Quirk like Air Walk doesn’t seem very useful. But, this series has proved to us time and time again that passive/support Quirks can be just as/if not more amazing than raw-powered Quirks. So, a Quirk like Air Walk can get Lady Nagant to so many places for her to fire her bullets. It’s an incredibly useful Quirk for a sniper. I do wonder what the limits of it are (because all Quirks have some sort of limitation), but I guess we’ll find that out later. I really do wonder how Deku’s going to handle Lady Nagant and Overhaul though. That’s going to be interesting.
Oh boy, that the chapter! Solid chapter per usual. Gah, my fingers hurt after typing so much. I’m glad we got to know more about Lady Nagant! She was a mystery for weeks, but we finally got some backstory on her. So, some answers, but a lot of questions are left behind. I’m actually glad we’re still sticking with Deku so far. I still want to see Bakugo and Shoto, but we also haven’t gotten a purely Deku-centric arc for a while, so this is good. Horikoshi truly doesn’t miss! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to be screaming about the next anime episode and Shoto Todoroki sakuga for the next week I will not apologize.
Me @ Horikoshi every chapter:

I was having a debate with a Kataang shipper, and eventually we came to differing viewpoints on emotional im/maturity that the two years could do between Kataang and Zutara.
And then, how their lives impacted them in terms of growth and maturing too.
And then I came to the realization of this (and sorry, this is long):
There’s this paved pathway Aang had that Zuko never did, just some pointless goal that was meant to forever keep him exiled and with only an uncle to watch him as he lived in anger and regret
Idk, to me, Aang had this destiny that he had to focus on and get to, a part of him matured for it, but he desperately clung to his freedom, which in turn, stifled his emotional maturity. In a way, it’s like Sokka, but even Sokka had what Aang never seemed to acquire in a sense.
Zuko was robbed of that by ozai, Zuko believed in being good and was naturally a good person by heart (as expressed in scenes with his mother, comparisons with Azula, etc) and he tried to save the lives of several by speaking out against the sacrifice of new troops just to win something.
His mother had left them (essentially him as Azula came to distance herself and become more like her father), he wore the weight of realization that Azula was considered superior against him, he bore the crippling thought that he was going to have to spend his life trying to earn his father’s approval, he lived the weight of his father snatching the role of Fire lord from his uncle, the knowledge that it was wrong as he heard Azula talk ill of iroh and ozai bash him to earn the title, and then how he was expendable to his father.
Aang lived among people who he loved and in turn, loved or adored him back, and tragically, he lost his friends to his role as the avatar, but he always had Bumi and the some of the monks (especially one) and Appa.
Zuko had a scar that engraved the idea that he was nothing but a failure, damaged him into thinking his ideals and morals were wrong when they were what was needed, that he shouldn’t have been born and was lucky enough to even be alive in a sense.
Zuko lost his briefly earned pathway to be the next Fire lord. He was sent on a destination to find the avatar who wasn’t considered a last saving grace or sliver of hope, to never be found again.
To a degree? He knew it was in vain to search for him, but he had nothing else to do but try.
Because not finding him secured his role as a failure, it let him lose to Azula, it didn’t really avenge his uncle, it didn’t secure his right to live if he was basically exiled.
And to another degree, he knew his father abandoned him. But that meant he would have to settle in the knowledge that both his parents left him orphaned in a sense.
He operated under the care, guidance and love of his uncle. The only support in his life. The only one who truly cared for him enough to stay by his side.
He was surrounded by soldiers on ship who didn’t respect him. He was mocked everywhere he went as much as he was feared (something he didn’t want to begin with before the Agni Kai), and he had no home.
I feel like that, especially occurring at the age of 13 I believe, more than forced a few aspects of him to grow up and mature. Enough to acknowledge when he was in the wrong without someone telling him, enough to know when to fix his mistakes or make up for them, enough to realize who was really there for them and who he could be vulnerable with.
To some level, I think he and Katara were on the same wavelength because she witnessed her mother die to save her, she had a huge responsibility in her tribe, she was of an important figure of birth and considered royal, she was practically playing mother to several, and the last water bender to live in the tribe but wasn’t allowed to really brush up on it.
Being with Aang and Sokka, then eventually toph, I think it also aged her to the point where the gap between her and Zuko in ages didn’t matter, it was like it taxed them both enough that they both had what the other was missing.
My mother and I had this debate that I think can apply to this:
“What’s worse, to wake up after being cryogenically frozen after 200 years and see the world new/different but you still be the same as before?
Or wake up after like x amount of years from a coma, and have your childhood robbed from you because you’ve aged and everyone else around you has and moved on?”
We eventually settled on, well they both suck, but seeing the reality of what your life once was is especially crippling. And we settled on the coma one
To me, Aang was just cryogenically frozen.
The world he knew died and a new one began in a sense. Everyone he knew and cared for was dead. His temple was gone and his people.
But he didn’t really have to see reminders of it because it was just history and the past. It was essential, beyond the storyline, for him to be frozen for so long because he didn’t have his old life to look back on and hinder him, all he could do was press forwards because he can’t go back and regret if nothing is there. Seeing the temple? It’s like a relic now, not what he once knew. It’s not as he left it. It’s something else now standing in its place. It’s just now, what is.
Beyond the whole weird avatar mojo stuff, he’s living with no reminders. It’s kinda more, benefiting in a sense? He can move on, he doesn’t have guilt to face him everyday.
Zuko, he was the coma scenario.
He lived his life thinking good of the world and people, and then it’s like what life was really like was revealed to him. And then he just got hit by a truck out of nowhere (consider the metaphorical coma inducing truck an Agni Kai with his father) and everything just kinda, paused for a long while.
Mother is gone, father disowned him, sister couldn’t care less if he was dead like dear daddy, and there’s kinda no point now?
He’s living in this rage induced haze that he’s sorta, disconnected from who he once was. He’s broken and suspended in time of heart ache and self loathing.
Iroh is standing by his bedside and talking to his unconscious state, and the words are going in, but there’s no point because he can’t take them in and process them.
He’s shut down.
And then, it’s like meeting Katara in the cave, it sorta wakes him up for a second, grants a miracle and shows him there’s something outside of the pitch black he’s been seeing for so long.
And then the past comes back in the form of Azula, and false promises and the offering of restoration to what once was now takes over and he falls back unconscious and no one can get through to him again.
Eventually, when the realization hits that he can’t go back, he wakes up
But Zuko now lives with seeing his past everywhere around him. He’s got the knowledge that he’s aged and he needs to accept it and adapt.
He lives with the constant reminders because they’re still fresh, they didn’t go away, and they’re crippling as ever.
That’s why I believe that in a way, Zuko aged and matured enough to be capable of Katara’s affections and love more than Aang. That he could be her equal. Because he’s living with reminders, while Aang is living in an air of ignorance and bliss to a sense because it’s just history, everything has aged or been rebuilt that its not the same world he once knew. He’s got a new lease on life
And Zuko has some physical therapy to do. He’s got muscles he needs to strengthen just to walk again in the form of finding his true good nature and being the future Fire lord his people needs. Being the son that wants to take down his father and sister.
Zuko is still young, he still has room to grow and learn more, but Katara has kinda already established herself in a sense and aged more than she should have playing mother and voice of reason at times, even if she has more to learn too.
And I think they’re on almost equal wavelengths to better understand each other and be a supportive life partner together.

Hello all and welcome to part 4 of my playthrough of KH2 on the PS2. If you haven't seen the previous entries please go do that.
[ _1_ ] [ _2_ ] [ _3_ ]
To recap: The Wonders of Twilight Town are boring as hell. We spoke to Namine again, Roxas finally realizes his life this week is a lie and starts to remember his life in the Organization. DiZ is racist against Nobodies but we already knew that. Roxas and Axel fight, I wanted to cry. Roxas meets Sora in his sleeping pod before disappearing, I wanted to cry.
And the adventure continues
I wanna know how Sora wakes up in the real world when Roxas merges with him in the virtual one. How in CoM does Sora go to sleep in Castle Oblivion, the whole-ass chamber and then some get transferred to Twilight Town, Roxas meets him in a virtual version of the mansion, and Sora wakes up in the real mansion in KH2? Nomura please explain this series. Is Final Fantasy ever this convoluted?
Donald and Goofy call out to Sora and we're once again reminded this is a Disney game. I don’t know why but the fact that Disney owns the original Kingdom Hearts characters bothers me. It means, unless DISNEY gives the OK, Sora will never be in Smash Bros. and that makes me sad.
I don't know much about comas but after a year of total inactivity, wouldn't your muscles atrophy like, A BUNCH? At least is wasn’t 7... OR VENTUS WITH A WHOLE DECADE WTF?
Again WHY COULDN'T JIMINY JUST KEEP EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED IN CHAIN OF MEMORIES WRITTEN DOWN IN HIS JOURNAL INSTEAD OF A CRYPTIC MEMO TO THANK NAMINE?
The trinity trio wanders out of the mansion, loot some chests, and find their way to the back alleys of town.
Hayner is rude RIGHT outta the gate, wow. Ok I remember that Pence actually met Roxas in Days, and so to me he seems to recognize Sora through his memories of Roxas despite the two sharing like, one visual similarly: blue eyes. But KH3 to my understanding reveals that the virtual versions of characters affect the real version so I dunno!! WHAT IS THIS SERIES?
"Have you finished the summer homework yet?" Olette asks Sora and his two ANIMAL COMPANIONS as if seeing two anthropomorphic animals is fucking normal in a town comprised entirely of humans and exactly one moogle.
Sora doesn't have any homework. For over a year he's been away from home and his mom couldn't make him go to school. I wonder how she's doing? Does she miss her son? Kingdom Hearts and parents don't gel.
I like how.. When Pence describes this cloaked figure who was looking for the trinity trio, as having big, round ears, they have to think about who it could possibly be. They’re not too bright.
Why is “sofa” capitalized? Also they weren't even sitting on it, neither of them were!
HAYNER IS A RUDE BOY! He tells us so ask Seifer about the town, as we are new. Bruh, if you’re this rude to us I’m sure how much worse Seifer and his posse are.
Seifer is immediately confrontational. “You here to pick a fight with us?” and Sora’s all like “No, we’re new here.” and DONALD FUCKING DUCK! INSULTS SEIFER AND NOW EVERYONE’S READY TO THROW DOWN! THANKS TO THIS DUMB FUCK DUCK!
But thank Christ big chungus appears out of nowhere and stops the children and two adult furries from causing a scene.
This dude is WAY too into the Struggle tournament. Seifer has an unwanted faaaaan! Bro, go away, you’re creeping on a teenager.
I wanna fight Seifer.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
I'm not working on this like I should be. I'm going on vacation soon and since we're all in quarantine I can't really do anything fun so this is the opportune time to catch up.
Moving on! We make our way to the train station and oh no, we're ambushed by Dusks! Because of COURSE we are. Who could've seen THAT coming? /s
I- I like how, even after hearing his voice, and seeing his fucking mousey silhouette, the gang STILL might not be sure this is their stupid rat king. One brain cell between the three of them, I swear, and Goofy is the primary carrier, and it only sometimes works.
Why do we need to purchase tickets to travel on a magical train embarking to an ethereal plane of existence? I guess it's the principal of it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED TO HUG THIS BOY. LOOK, HE'S CRYING!
……………………………………………………………………………………………
Pence is so cute. I didn't care much for him when I was younger but he's such a cutie.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED TO HUG THIS BOY. LOOK, HE'S SAD!
……………………………………………………………………………………………
It's fat cat Pete. For like ever, I had no idea he was a cat. Wonder what Maleficent saw in him to ally with him.
The trinity trio laughing about killing (or at least taking part in killing) Maleficent. "She's toast!" this sure is early 2000's dialogue...
Heartless everywhere! "You mean the worlds aren't at peace after all" well, no sweetie. It takes time for things to recover from horrible events. *looks at current state of the real world*
So like, I had no idea Yen Sid was a Keyblade warrior??? I had read about that in his Wiki page when I googled if any Keyblade warriors were left handed. (Ven might be, but more likely ambidextrous) But I guess being Mickey's teacher would imply his Keyblade wielder roots but whatever, I didn't pay attention when I was a teenager.
Yen Sid's decor is baffling. What are these bookshelves? What are these BOOKS? They're huge!
Good on Yen Sid for using singular “they” pronouns in 2005.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
On to our change of wardrobe. Without a doubt Sora's best look in the whole series, in my humble opinion. Lookit my handsome boy.
And Sora learns about drive forms, blah, blah, blah, powerful forms, gotta sacrifice something like in Duel Monsters, in this case an ally.
Yen Sid is so boring.
All seriousness and tension is just broken as soon as Goofy’s name is uttered, at least Sora and Donald have normal names wtf.
It’s interesting how like, 15 years later, Union X explains how Maleficent was able to return after her defeat. Something about, as long as someone from your original time remembers you and you have a physical object to represent you you’re able to basically some back from the dead. Right? Am I right on that? I haven’t played it but I’m hanging by a thread on this loop.
Sora’s hard work down the drain...
……………………………………………………………………………………………
Hollow Bastion! And of course there’s trouble. Heartless, Nobodies, and Yuffie, oh my!
A problem sequels have to work around is when the protagonist needs to relearn their abilities. KH does a well and good job with this one. In CoM, it’s a different battle style, in KH2 Sora’s been asleep for a hear prior.
Also, Merlin “leant” Sora some magic spells? How does that work? Like, once you learn it you can’t just... give that knowledge back...?
……………………………………………………………………………………………
How old is Leon? He has no right being this pretty.
Another ambush by Nobodies. Give it a rest, would ya? Battle ensues, Leon deals the final blow against an enemy, and as the camera usually does, zooms in on the victor and we get a nice slow-mo crotch shot of Leon. Thanks, game... Then, Xemnas’s very sexy, very manly voice echoes across town and the organization appears before our protagonists. I’m weak.
Demyx’s laugh, dude. I love it. Sora is ready to throw hands with anyone in his way. Honey, you’re barely out of a magic coma and this dude is like, two whole feet taller than you. Not to mention very fit.
I’m done thirsting over Xemnas...
After a few taunting words, the new villains depart, Donald attempts to give chase somehow? Where you gonna go? They disappeared behind dark corridors. It seems Goofy is still holding onto that shared brain cell.
The Bastard
I like the majority of the Organization. Xigbar is definitely one of my favorites based on this next scene alone. He’s so snarky and full of shit. I love it. He’s great. He was definitely a stoner at some point.
I’m confused though. “He used to give me that same exact look!” the Wiki says Xigbar’s talking about Ven but I always thought he was referring to Roxas? Did Braig and Ven have a history? That’s implied in Days (which released before BbS) IDK dude. I’m surprised I’ve gone this long without spoiling myself too much on BbS. Like, a few story beats here and there but a lot of it isn’t gonna be known until I play it.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
The dialogue for KH2 was so different from the first game. It dates itself so much in comparison.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
Xiggy stands like this for 7 whole seconds parting with a condescending “Be a good boy now!” before disappearing. I love this fucker.
Leon, who’s been sitting on the sidelines this whole time, joins Sora and the others after the real threat is gone. We chitchat for a little bit and say our goodbyes. It’s time to leave this place and move on to one of two available worlds.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
At the Beast's Castle. After fighting a hoard of Shadows, the least intimidating enemy in the series (although the demon tower in kh3 is quite frightening nlg), the Beast himself makes his appearance, takes out the Heartless that suddenly stop multiplying upon his arrival, disgracefully shoves his supposed friends aside, and takes his precious rose to the west wing, which is where it SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. ADAM WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
……………………………………………………………………………………………
No joke one of the funniest actual gags in the whole series is:
*Donald Duck manhandling Cogsworth*
Cut to Sora saying "I'm glad you're OK." to Lumiere
……………………………………………………………………………………………
OK the minigame where you gotta light the magic torches, why do we have to make sure Cogsworth has enough strength to keep the lever down when we have two perfectly capable companions that can hold it down instead? I remember this sequence being a lot more annoying when I was a teen.
Xaldin's voice makes me feel things. Ahhh he sounds so tired lol. He peaces out and we fight the Beast. I remember getting him to calm down being harder.
"Xaldin used my anger to control me!" Says Beast. He angers very easily so this must have been a cinch. Xaldin's been obsessed with him since Days so I would imagine this intel would come in handy.
More fodder to fight and on to the boss. Phase one is just an angrier version of the Darkball Heartless. Phase two is just skinny Ganon. I like its design though.
“Belle, I’m sorry. I wasn’t myself, being all rude and overall kind of a jackass to you and my servants” Except that’s kinda how you’ve always been lmao. Just because you couldn’t choose not to be an ass here doesn’t change that this IS in character. Still gotta work on that a bit.
“You don’t have to apologize” No, no he still does.
They all reconcile and the Trinity Trio departs until Xaldin shows up again to wreak more havoc.
Time to move on to the next world.

trying to put down what i have about the Rivals AU so far
Anti
???
he’s evil
the rest can and will change as the current arc of canon escalates
v powerful but rarely attacks the other egos directly, prefers to just keep them distracted
resents the community for finding him amusing yet not taking his side
probably keeps Seán in coma bc he’s more useful alive than dead
Jackie
a bit shorter than Seán and the second shortest of the whole group. smol
budding superhero but like. not that good at it
like yeah he has superpowers he just usually doesn’t know how to use them correctly but he’s trying his best
super strength? sure. but 75% of the time he doesn’t use it for good but for a) accidentally pushing poor Chase off the couch when he just meant to do a gentle shove, and the like, or b) picking Marvin up with ease bc it annoys the hell out of him
he can fly (well, more like levitate really) but he’s not good at it so he usually either crashes into stuff or gets stuck in the air and then someone (usually Marvin bc he’s the/one of the tallest) has to physically get him down. Jackie still wonders how Marvin is yet to deliberately drop him
he’s a capable guy just not when it comes to his powers
he also heals v fast but he’s still usually covered in band-aids bc no fast healing can beat his ability to injure himself. band-aids are always colourful bc life is too short for boring ones
loves annoying Marvin but he’s usually up for a truce too, esp if it happens on his terms and not right after Marvin beat him at something
and if shit gets tough, he’ll defend Marvin to the death
don’t believe whatever he tells you, he Hates being alone for too long. one day on his own in the house and he’ll go crazy. he’s v social
really really wants to meet Chase’s kids but due to recent events he. can’t
he probably hasn’t unlocked all his powers yet/their full potential
Chase
like in canon, he’s a divorced dad with bad mental health
the leader of the group bc he was the one to call them together and he’s been taking care of the channel while everyone else was gone and also he’s Anti’s biggest target beside Seán
the Fun Dad Friend
same height as Seán
everyone has some sort of magic powers at least but idk what his are yet. tho i do v much love the minor reality-altering powers @asrisartarena‘s Chase has
Schneep
either the tallest alongside Marvin, or the second tallest after Marvin
a bit muscle-y
usually remains serious and a proper adult bc the team needs his collectedness, but when given the chance he turns into an absolute little shit
he can find out what’s wrong with a person’s physical health just by touching them and “reading” the magic feedback he gets, which is super useful sometimes
he also has some weak pain transferral and healing powers, but with his medical knowledge and Marvin’s stronger magic around he doesn’t really use them
Jameson
still a dumpling. the smallest of the group
v soft and sweet and gentlemanly
actor by trade but can also write v good stories
always knows more than you think he does
mute and knows sign but no one else in the group does (yet)
idk about his magic powers either
Marvin
the tallest. very long (in build. he’s about half a head taller than Seán)
what he lacks in muscle he makes up for with magic and sass
absolutely fabulous and knows it
calls ppl things like “boo” and “darling”. if he doesn’t, yknow shit’s gotten serious
has fought Anti before and got out of it with a scar on his face but idk how to make that more relevant to the plot yet
has a v complicated train of thought most of the time and doesn’t understand why ppl don’t get what he’s talking about
will sometimes?? carry Jackie on his back???
v powerful magician but doesn’t actually Know as much as he’d like ppl to think
doesn’t like to admit it but he has a huge soft spot for Jackie and eventually will just stick with him no matter what
biggest flaw: selfish. will do the Right Thing only if it’s convenient to him for whatever reason, needs time and some p traumatic experiences to become unquestionably protective of his “family”
will do v sweet things for ppl he loves but like. his own way. like catching a shiny and naming it after Jackie when Jackie was badly hurt or leaving ppl random trinkets as gifts bc they reminded him of them but never giving it to them directly

I actually had this headcanon about Xavier messing with Bobby’s mind when he was a teenager that’s just total Bobby stanning but also I maintain is super plausible as something Xavier would do.
Okay, so Bobby Drake in the comics is an omega level mutant, which are the most powerful mutants possible, they’re the mutants who have NO upper ceiling to their power and basically can wield it on a global scale, use it to transcend death, etc. He’s also notoriously infamous for being afraid of his own potential and only scratching the surface of what he’s truly capable of for decades.
BUT! Something that’s interesting is in the original X-Men series, Bobby used his power to transform his body physically into ice - which he could ‘heal’ by repairing any damage done to his ice form with more ice, etc, was stronger than his human form, and so on. But somewhere along the line, for whatever reason, Bobby started being written as just ‘icing up’ and staying completely human and just covering his body with a more durable covering of ice.
Until the early 90s, where there was a story where Emma Frost was attacked and put into a coma by a villain named Trevor Fitzroy, who killed most of her students. There was some kind of accident, and Emma unintentionally used her powers to possess Bobby, who was part of the team who came to help. She ‘discovered’ there was more to his powers than anyone had previously suspected as she tried to take revenge against Fitzroy, transforming Bobby’s body physically into ice in the process, changing its shape and size, teleporting via bodies of water, etc.
When it was over and Emma had been restored to her rightful body and Bobby took control of his again, he confronted Emma about the stuff she’d done with his powers, and asked for her help learning how to do those things and more. This was when he ‘learned’ to turn his body into ice like she had, with no mention of the fact that he’d actually used to be able to do this as a teenager, in the very earliest comics.
A few years later, there was a miniseries called X-Men Forever (I think?) where Bobby and Jean teamed up with Mystique and Juggernaut and Toad randomly, can not for the life of me remember why, something to do with fighting a Celestial? idk, comics are weird. But point is, this storyline was the first time the omega mutant classification was really brought up and canonized, and over the course of it, Bobby and Jean found some old files Professor X had on them from when they were teenagers, talking about how both Bobby and Jean were examples of a new level of mutant called omega mutants, with power so vast it frightened him with its scale and limitless potential. And that he was afraid of what that power could do unchecked and worried about his ability to teach them to control it responsibly when it was so far even beyond what he was capable of. Which of course was a reference to the Dark Phoenix saga, as around this time the comics were kinda retconning the Phoenix as not being a separate cosmic force but rather the ultimate expression of Jean’s mutation and a part of her all along.
SO. My ‘ugh Xavier’ headcanon was that what if instead of just being that later writers forgot about Bobby’s full ice form until Lobdell brought it back - what if the reason Bobby forgot he could do this and had to learn it as though for the first time after Emma possessed him, was because Xavier placed a mental block in his mind when he was a teenager? Specifically to keep him using his powers at a ‘safe’ level and not going too far exploring them, because he was worried about his ability to stop Bobby or keep him in check if he ever turned bad with powers of his scale. Like he decided he couldn’t risk both Bobby and Jean growing ‘out of control’ with their powers and he felt Jean was the more responsible of the two so ‘a safer bet’ to help reach her full potential while he set up a mental block in Bobby’s mind to make him come up with his own reasons/justification for backing off any time he started to reach too far with his powers. Just enough that Bobby felt uneasy or afraid of his own power whenever he started to display a little too much of it and so he retreated back to the safe, comfortable power levels he was familiar with.
TBH, its exactly the kind of thing Xavier would do in the name of the ‘greater good’, and it would explain Bobby (who’s always been very creative) never even thinking of using his powers in the kind of ways Emma did, until after she’d spent time literally living in his brain. An extremely powerful telepath in her own right, maybe the act of possessing Bobby and then being ousted from his brain shook whatever block Xavier set in place loose, so for the first time Bobby COULD begin to explore his powers more fully, and use them in ways he’d actually begun tapping into as a teenager, before he forgot or stopped doing this for some reason.
Like, there’s a pretty compelling story to be told about adults actually hindering the ability of younger generations to realize their full potential, even while saying they’re doing it for their own good and are just trying to help when they convince them not to aim too high or to be more ‘practical’ with their goals or ambitions, that they’re just trying to protect them. And even believing it when they say these things, while still on some level being afraid of that realized potential eclipsing theirs and leaving them behind someday.
Add to that...if you tied in implications that because messing with someone’s mind is never without consequences, Xavier unintentionally created a cascade effect that had a part to play in why Bobby never came out or even explored his sexuality to any degree until the time travelling younger version (perhaps from a time before Xavier had messed with his mind) came to the present day and Jean outed him and in turn outed the older version of Bobby, forcing him to confront what he’d always been afraid to look too closely at, even though he’s never really had any idea why. Like, if part of the subliminal block Xavier put to make him come up with his own justifications for not exploring his full potential had to do with that......his mind looked at the hugeness of all the feelings and thoughts about his sexuality he kept shoved in the back of it and considered it an effective scapegoat for that Big Bad Feeling that came over him any time he reached too far with his powers. Until Bobby subconsciously started to get the two mixed up, associating them with each other, and so he never allowed himself to look too closely at those thoughts or feelings because if he did sort them out, then they could no longer be an excuse or scapegoat for why he wasn’t realizing his full potential, and he’d have to look for other reasons why....which would bring him back to the mental block that his mind fundamentally couldn’t look directly at or acknowledge it was there, because it was literally programmed that way.
And if you did that, then suddenly you have a whole other layer to that story, about compulsory heterosexuality and the truncating, limiting effects of being forced to deny yourself or even hide from your own sexuality because of the brainwashing society’s homophobia inflicts on vulnerable teens when they’re first trying to figure out who they really are.
ANYWAY. I have lots of thoughts about Bobby and also shady Xavier and yes this is total headcanon handwaving BUT also I maintain its plausible and fits both their characterization and could make for a fucking epic and powerful story if done right.

ok im finally back on desktop
anyway
it starts right after abigail and toki are rescued. Toki is immediately taken to ICU because the timing of the rescue was a fucking miracle, he's got infected wounds and is going into septic shock, like he was just barely keeping it together until he realized he was in safe hands again. He's burning up with an insane fever and makes it through the night by yet another miracle, but has to be kept in a medically-induced coma while most of his wounds are cleaned, debrided, and grafted. So there's no knowing what his mental state is like yet...
Abigail fares better physically. Toki shielded her from Magnus' abuse whenever he could. Mentally, though, she's not the same, and it fucking terrifies Nathan. The last time he saw her she was so fucking strong, she didn't take shit from anyone, she could wrangle the entire band and keep them in line like it was nothing. Now, her eyes have this horrible hollowness to them, and she flinches away when he touches her hand.
And it's all his fault. No matter what anyone says, it's his fault. They could have done more, sooner. Half of the time, he wasn't even thinking about her. And there's no excuse for that, he knew exactly how fucking insane Magnus was and what he was capable of. And he ignored it. He sat by and did nothing. He was off drinking and getting high and fucking other women when the one person he actually loved was being tortured by his psycho ex-bandmate, whom he's ALSO responsible for.
And this is where things get dicey.
Because.... In horrific situations, people fond comfort any way they can. People bond in traumatic settings. In captivity. When Nathan's honest about having been with other girls while she was captive, Abigail can't just keep secrets from him.
She and Toki had sex while they were held hostage together. Not just once, either.
Nathan's not mad at her, but he's gonna talk to Toki and make damn sure he knows that shit's over now.
But here's the next problem.
when he finally wakes up, Toki doesn't remember anything. Nothing at all. He doesn't remember being kidnapped. He doesn't know who Magnus or Abigail are.
It's like he's gone back in time to when he first joined the band. His "happy place." The psych staff decided it was best to let him stay there as long as he needs in order to recover mentally. Don't challenge him when he gets things wrong, but gently remind him when he asks why something is different from what he remembers. The same way you handle someone with dementia.
Aaaaaand this is where it gets slightly shippy because i like skwistok ok
so some basic headcanons first: the reason why Skwisgaar is so impatient and mean to Toki NOW is because, like he said when Toki came to try out, nobody had ever actually challenged him and made him play his best before in order to keep up. Toki was a healthy threat to his position as the world's best guitarist, and gave him a reason to improve even more (and during this time they also have a FWB kinda relationship. Not exactly romantic, but a little more than just purely sexual). But Toki isn't nearly as fast of a learner, and couldn't keep up enough to STAY challenging. So the rivalry went sour, as did the relationship, because Skwisgaar became so fucking frustrated with him and the stagnation between them.
So now Toki has that initial awe and enthusiasm back, but Skwisgaar's now MILES ahead of him. And now he realizes how much he misses HIS Toki, the one that he'd taken for granted and treated like such shit. He can't just shake him back to reality when he's not ready. But maybe this time things can be different. Everything doesn't have to fall apart and go to shit this time.
and idk, both storylines would pllay out somehow, or something. I never really planned anything out very far outside of like, emotional motives and shit.
BUT its kind of pointless to write it now if there's actually going to be an official sequel (maybe 2!) to doomstar
i really need to tell someone about my soap opera-esque epic post-doomstar drama fic idea that i will never write
