ok i'm taking the opportunity offered by this gorgeous shot by @foxofninetales to kind of showcase the difference between the shades the software auto-picker chooses and what i prefer for color choices

the following two rows you can see the automated choice on the left, and my hand selected colors on the right - and hopefully an illustration of why sometimes you might prefer not to just let algorithms choose what you see. or maybe that's just me [last two rows, palate (hah! palette palate?) cleanser]

#color palettes #i just thought it was interesting that it picks out like very rare colors in the image for accents #but somehow doesn't match the overall color ... er them? family? in the photo #sometimes it works - a pop of accent color is what really draws the eye #but like here the colors are so autumnal ... rather than search out a sky blue why not go for a warm reddish tone that fits?#idk - it's probably bc this software is for decor and paint and thus it will frequently grab background grays #although it doesn't grab whites or beiges so ????#anyway i like my color choices better but maybe for some the cooler auto picked hues feel more moderm?#my color choices are always like ... colors i'd want in a snuggly sweater or pillows and blankets so i'm definitely biased
