#i've just got a bunch of ideas for this AU rattling around in my head

hello! take some designs for an after-game PMTOK au i've had rattling around in my brain for a bit. More explanation under the cut :]

Okay so the basic premise is that a couple of months after the game something something star spirits cause the legion of stationary + Olly and Olivia get reborn as toads (except for like, 1.5 of them) and are dropped off unceremoniously in Toad Craftsman's front yard for him to deal with.

This was mostly an excuse so I could draw some Olivia interacting with everyone because we never got to see her hanging out with them and I plan to rectify that! Uh here are some design notes:

For all the LoS I really wanted to give them all different types of mushroom caps for fun so Colored pencils got a death-cap mushroom as theirs since I wanted something flat like their box. I wanted their design to be reminiscent of an art student since I thought it would be funny.

Rubber band's mushroom cap is a bunch of enoki mushrooms reminiscent of their little hair thing. I think they adjusted the best of the LoS to being a toad since they already took a pretty humanoid form when they were an office supply.

Hole punch's mushroom is a Morel mushroom since they have a bunch of holes and stuff. their hair is also supposed to look like cut up paper.

Tape has a button mushroom since I really didn't wanna distract from their hair and them having a really tiny hat seemed funny. Still the most loyal to Olly even though he literally has no powers anymore because its the FAMILY!

Scissors is an oyster mushroom since it looks kinda cut up. Also their Handaconda has been turned into one of the Underwhere hands from the river Stix. They're the one dealing the worst (besides Olly) with being a toad and keep trying to do flips and shit and failing.

Stapler is a chain chomp with really messed up teeth, thats it.

Olivia and Olly are just normal toads! Also Olivia is fine, she just spawned with the "cut" out on her cap, since she can't really wear her signature hat. Didn't really have to change much about their designs, they're already perfect. But as stated above, Olly is really not doing well being a toad, makes it really hard to make origami. I also think Olivia really doesn't like it either, she liked being who she was and this just feels wrong to her. it feels wrong to all of them tbh

I also tried my hand at an Origami craftsman design. I wanted him to kinda look like Olly and Olivia, having Olivia's hair texture, but Olly's color and shape. I've seen people head canon him to be really young and I totally agree, makes his mistake seem a little more driven by naivety then by deliberately going against what he should know. He's dealing...okay with having a bunch of people in his house.

Yea the only ideas I have for plot is that Olly is trying to remake all the 1000 cranes again so he can turn them all back into their true forms and they can leave (the idea of taking over doesn't really appeal to him anymore) and go somewhere else. But there's also a time limit since the origami festival is happening soon and the Craftsman has to go to it and the others really don't know how everyone else might react to them. Also everyone only remembers up to when they die so colored pencils really has no context while Olivia knows mostly what happened. i like the idea that this creates some tension between Olly and the LoS who are questioning what happened to make him change his mind so drastically.

just finished crawling through your master post, got any wips trapped in your head or what was your favorite to write?

That, my friend, is a dangerous question to ask... mostly due to the fact that if given the chance, I could go on for a concerningly long time about what wips I have stuck in my head.

But honestly really like all of them because there were so many different kinds of prompts that caught my attention and made me just wanna start writing. Different aspects that call my attention ya know. A little hard to keep track of here on tumblr (for example, this ask that I thought I somehow lost and just found).

With so many, it sucks that I haven't been able to fully write out full fics for most of them :( . I STILL haven't finished part two of the 'What Protects from the Shadows', and that was one of my first ones I did I think. Like legit, I have an outline but now I wanna add things and make some changes and just ajdjskdjakdjs stuff. It's mocking me in my Google docs.

Recently the Stole core au has been rattling around in my head, I've written basically a third chapter and with the point that it's one the fic Bare is probably gonna be longer than just three chapters. 5 if I'm lucky to be honest at the max. BUT THEN I still have plans/ideas for a third part of that series Epmty Soaces on ao3 (which is the Stolen core au from here on tumblr).

Concussions and Mistaken Identities!! I have another unreleased part to that as well, it's ridiculous and every once in a while I wanna add more. It's probably gonna become it's own fic on ao3.

(Once I post a fic on ao3 though, it's another WIP that I KNOW I can't abandon. So I worry about posting if I don't have majority or a good portion of it planned out. Dont wanna leave yall hanging.)

Hit the decks au by @omnicrafts and @ailithnight is another one two that I keep working on in my Google docs as well and that I would love eventually post on ao3 as well. Just the soft angst of it had me in a chokehold. (Please check out the other branches of the prompt!)

A Successful Sacrifice as well is another one that I could potentially write a part 2 for a series. I literally have another 3,000 something words worth of it that I could post (and maybe I will). I find myself going back to it rereading and then working on the draft I have.

Honestly I'm always going back to my docs to work on MANY of the wips and prompt fills that you have seen AND not seen that came from tumblr. Everyone has such awesome ideas that spark inspiration and then I just wanna write a whole ass story for it.

It's a lovely feeling but damn, I do not have nearly enough time for all of them.

And this is me holding back on fully getting into a bunch of other wips and prompts😅

4. What detail in [insert fic] are you really proud of?

i'm going to pick paradise to gush about a bit for this one, because i'm really proud of the amount of work i put into the details of the setting for it and that's something it's gotten positive attention over from readers as well! i've never been to okinawa, but even in photos and videos it's such a beautiful island, and the attention to detail the crew on sk8 had for recreating recognizable locations even for things as simple as street corners is something i really enjoy about the anime. so for a fic that's going to new locations in okinawa, i really wanted to try and capture that same attention to detail and make the scenery as vivid as i could in a fic without illustrations. i mapped out the entire drive from the airport station to the coast off nanjo city on street view, so all the locations langa notices in chapter 2 are real! for example, this is the sign showing they were entering tomigusuku city:

i had a lot of fun with it and it's something i want to try and do with more sk8 fics in the future!!

23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?

oh god, too many things. the broadest category is just "i want to actually write something E-rated eventually" but for specific tropes/concepts... i really want to do something with the "two characters are trapped together and one of them is grievously injured and the other isn't sure they're going to make it to safety" setup, and i've got some other angst tropes i want to play around with (a couple hospital fic ideas, etc), not to mention just some like... popular fic tropes i've somehow never crossed off my list.

i've also got a bunch of disparate scenes and visuals for a sk8/rgu thing rattling around in my head but i have no idea how to do it justice without visuals, but someday i'd like to try.

For a second Reki’s sure he misheard him; his earbuds weren’t actually playing anything, but he pops them out anyway, slapping the catalog down on the counter. “Langa?” Reki repeats, carefully neutral, even when he has to bite back a wave of frustration at Miya’s nonchalant nod. “What did he want?” “There’s some new kid at S. thinking about my AU concept again and realized I should probably write it out somewhere so anyways please have the basic notes of my (admittedly totally self-indulgent) AU

anyways. what if Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark were actually still around and they’ve been surviving in secret by either living in extremely isolated areas or:

well. they can have a little possession as a treat. they are ghost types, after all

the idea is that by possessing humans, they’ll be able to grow up safely although this... doesn’t always work out

some choose to leave their hosts after they evolve (usually happening around late teens/early young adult age), some stay in their human body until it dies. don’t ask what happens to their hosts when they leave early! it’s fine. it’s fine.

it’s common folklore in more remote areas of Sinnoh that if red suddenly appears around a child’s eyes, they’ve been possessed by a Zorua, but this hasn’t spread far

which isn’t to say the Zoroark haven’t. bc they have- including Unova.

anyways. as an infant, Ingo’s possessed by a Zorua. instinctively, he is aware of what he is but for obvious reasons keeps silent about it

as he grows older he inherently unnerves the people around him, not remotely helped by the fact that he never expresses emotion on his face and was born with sharp eyes

none of this bothers Emmet! he loves his twin and he wishes people would stop saying mean things about him :(

their parents don’t necessarily treat Ingo well- they don’t abuse him, but at most they treat him with a cold kind of tolerance, doubtlessly secretly hoping he’ll go away on his own at some point. his mother knows that is not the child she gave birth to, but what can she do about it?

their parents die in an accident when they’re around six years old, and they’re taken in by their Uncle Drayden- this is the first time they’ve met him since he didn’t have the best relationship with his sister

drayden is definitely aware there is something. not normal about Ingo, but his medical records (mostly) check out, and he seems... harmless for all that he unnerves people, so he just lets him be.

those possessed by Zorua look mostly human as children, but once they evolve into Zoroark they get a nice pair of sharp chompers and sharp, hard black nails

they’re not too physically different from humans although they have faster reflexes and sharper senses of smell/eyesight. oh, and their eyes glow. don’t worry about it.

(no, they cannot shapeshift. except for the eyes. sometimes they turn gold)

they also glitch normal pokedexs like crazy (rotom dexs can re calibrate for the error, but how strange... what’s this entry for a supposedly extinct pokemon variant doing in the dex now?)

they smell like both human and Zorua/Zoroark

he still grows up with a love for trains and Pokemon battling bc that’s nurture vs nature baby!

he initially doesn’t keep any of his pokemon in pokeballs and probably doesn’t start until their battle subway days bc it’s a lot harder to have all of your pokemon out on a cramped subway car. he slowly gets used to it after that.

I still haven’t decided if Emmet is fully aware that his brother is not 100% human, bc both options are good

(let’s face it, the inherent drama of him only finding out right before ingo gets yeeted to Hisui and disappears is GREAT)
