Me, trying to write real poetry instead of light verse: I cannot speak well enough to be unintelligible.
#napowrimo 2025#poetry#fictionadventurer poetry#napowrimo's going well#i've written several short pieces#nothing profound but i'm pleased enough with the output#mostly i'm glad i can finish things#i worried i would just fiddle with poems forever and not finish any if i didn't have a daily posting deadline#but i'm liking letting them sit for a while#i've hit the point where i'm getting into the rhythm and have ideas for poems that aren't just 'fill in the prompt/poetic form'#but anytime i try to expand into something poetic i find out that i'm not intelligent enough to be profound#no layers of allusion for you!#and certainly not enough vocabulary to be creative#but i'm happy going along writing what i can write even if it's not literature#also i find it interesting that once i start writing poetry the poetry brain turns on#and everything becomes a potential poetry spark#an image an idea a phrase#this is why i can only write poetry in concentrated bursts#i just have to pour out all the ideas (half-baked as they are)#and then give my brain a rest
