if I had a nickel for every musical I've been sucked into that featured a main ensemble of at least 8 women, with two of those girls ending up dead/arrested, and another one being falsely accused of murder but ends up getting acquitted in the end, I'd have two nickels! Which isn't a lot! But it's weird that it happened twice!

I am really worried that the rumor of Negai no Astro getting axed by Weekly Shonen Jump might be true... IMO it's too soon for them to get assembled just to fight a greedy grandpa. I know he has the daybreak ore, but I mean it in a sense of this almost feels like a final boss fight with most siblings are gathered, especially since some of them came all the way there. Even Kinpa and Ginji got involved. Yes, there are Shio and the rest of the siblings whom we haven't known what they're up to so far though. I just hope we won't immediately face Shio as the last opponent after this because I want the story to be longer and explored more.
I hope Wakui's move in assembling the majority of the siblings in the latest chapter suceeds in grabbing the readers' interest thus avoiding NnA from getting axed. Like Kimetsu no Yaiba. I've heard that Gotouge threw in Muzan, who's the main antagonist and final boss of the series, in its earlier arc because kny was so close to get cancelled by WSJ. The tactic was proven to be successful because the series kept running to the point it got anime adaptation which further explodes the series' popularity.
Negai no Astro's pacing has been enjoyable so far, not rushed nor too slow. So IMO it's evident that the pace feels quicker since the tournament arc. All in all, I hope Wakui can complete the series while sticking to his original plan ー probably with a bit of tweaking here and there, but not to the point of getting stopped abruptly.

Books of 2024: November Wrap-Up.
Hi, y'all! I'm actually shocked that I managed to get through four (4) books this month, because it was NANO and I also WROTE A WHOLE BOOK!! The (written) book in its two notebooks is pictured beneath the pen and NaNo Earrings :)
All of these reads were NaNo-adjacent, somehow (I like to stack my reading with my writing project so all the Vibes are Correct)--either Space, or Haunted, or Fucked Up Fungi (I wrote a weird book this month)(I had a great time).
Photos and/or reviews linked:
A HALF-BUILT GARDEN - ★★★½ I enjoyed this! It was very slow and contemplative, and I was surprised by how long it took me to read (#NaNoProblems), but I'm glad I did, and Rhamnetin was a DELIGHT.
JUST LIKE HOME - ★★★★ Reread for me, holds up very well! Star rating unchanged from first time through. I actually do recommend rereading this one, knowing exactly when Daphne dies.
GRAVEYARD SHIFT - ★★★½ I enjoyed this one too! Short fun weird little insomnia romp. Love a good fucked up fungus and a motley POV crew.
THE NIGHT GUEST - ★★★★ This was DEEPLY fucked up and AMAZINGLY crafted horror/suspense, and I definitely had delayed nightmares about it. I also love a good spec fic in translation (this one's from Icelandic!). Cats are NOT safe, very graphically so, so proceed with caution if that's a warning you need.
Under the Cut: A Note About ~*★Stars★*~
Historically, I have been Very Bad™ about assigning things Star Ratings, because it's so Vibes Heavy for me and therefore Contingent Upon my Whims. (Example: I don't like that stars are Odd, because that makes three the midpoint and things are rarely so truly mid for me)(I have hacked my way around this with a ½). Here is, generally, how I conceptualize stars:
★ - This was Bad. I would actively recommend that you do NOT read this one, no redeeming qualities whatsoever, not worth the slog. Save Yourself, It's Too Late For Me. Book goes in the garbage (donate bin).
★★ - This was Not Good. I would not recommend it, but it wasn't a total waste or wash--something in here held my interest/kept my attention/sparked some joy. I will not be rereading this ever. Save Yourself (Or Join Me In Suffering, That Seems Like A Cool Bonding Activity).
★★★ - This was Good/Fine/Okay/Meh. I don't care about this enough to recommend it one way or another. Perfectly serviceable book, held my interest, I probably enjoyed myself (or at least didn't actively loathe the reading). I don't have especially strong feelings. You probably don't need to save yourself from this one--if it sounds like your jam, give it a shot! Just didn't resonate with me particularly powerfully. I probably won't reread this unless I'm after something in particular.
★★★½ - I liked this! I'll probably recommend it if I know it matches someone's vibes or specific requests, but I didn't commit to a star rating on Goodreads. More likely to reread, but not guaranteed.
★★★★ - I really enjoyed this!! I would recommend it (sometimes with caveats about content warnings or such--I tend to like weird fucked up funny shit, and I don't have many hard readerly NO's). Not a perfect book for me by any means, but Very Good. This is something I would reread! Join me!!
★★★★★ - I LOVED THE SHIT OUT OF THIS, IT REWIRED MY BRAIN, WILL RECOMMEND TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE AT THE SLIGHTEST PROVOCATION (content warning caveats still apply--see 4-star disclaimer). Excellent book, I'll reread it regularly, I'll buy copies for all my friends, I'll try to convince all of Booklr to read it, PLEASE join me!!

This was a quick painting, and it looks like it too. (Then again, "quick" is relative, in this case I finished this within around 2,5 hours, so your mileage may vary 🙃).
Instead of the usual brushpen (filled with chinese ink), I used my fountain pen to line it this time (which is now filled with the 54th Massachusetts ink! 😏💙✨), since it behaves so well on this paper I painted on 😅😆🙈. Not too shabby I say, though I prefer my usual choice. I can definitely use this for invoking a different mood than usual...👀

Top Wishlist Songs for the Upcoming Will Wood Concert:
Cicada Days: The high-volume "whisper" + "red flags fade to white" are made to be heard live I think. Although my favorite part is "okay I'll pack my stuff."
Euthanasia: I will cry
I/Me/Myself: is he gonna shriek a variation of the lyrics? I wanna know
White Noise: I want to shout, "yes it cures cancer"
Love, Me Normally: just a banger and would probably be a good show ender
Against the Kitchen Floor: the way it builds towards the end would be awesome live
Memento Mori: Clapping and cheering :)
The "must I need a reason? I just wanna hear them" list:
Becoming the Lastnames Laplace's Angel Marsha, Thankk You... Well, Better than the Alternative When Somebody Needs You Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll Half-Decade Hangover

She is staring at the painting above the hearth when they enter the room. Her head is tilted as if she is observing the artist’s details, but there is a mild frown at play on her face that seems at odds with the standard look of any art admirer. Rather, her hands are on her hips as though she is fully prepared to quarrel with either artist or painting. There is no gun on her hip. No rifle hanging off her shoulder, either, and Ron highly doubts those threadbare boots of hers conceal any weapon of note. Unarmed. Unarmed and alone. Her frown deepens as she turns on her heel to face them fully. Her chin lifts when she salutes – rigid, measured, perfect – but even at this distance he can see a potential storm at work behind her eyes. She does nothing to soften her gaze as she looks at each of them in turn. Her glance at him is nothing more than a swift once-over, which feels rather like he is being measured and found wanting. If he didn’t know better, he would say that she’s here to start another war.
Introducing Soviet Army officer Tatiana Ilyinichna Petrova from my WIP The Burning House, which is a post-war adventure that begins in 1940s Austria and tracks Ron Speirs's life to 1950s Berlin and beyond.

I find it very insidious that a growing number of ads (especially on radio, which I'm forced to listen to all day in work) are using the format of a conversation between friends. It's just so clearly aiming to get people to misremember the source and end up thinking they overheard people talking about Product or Service, or even were directly recommended by a friend of their own, rather than hearing it in a bloody ad.

I think I desperately need a long break from work but I won't be getting the break I wanted in August because my work contract got extended to October and I can't quit my job because there isn't any other work in my industry even available but I've been working non stop since I graduated and I need like a good month to myself to actually do all of the art I want while relaxing at the same time and uhgoauhgha
