i can see it now: in about 2-3 weeks 2007scape reddit will be full of complaints about underwater theiving/agility with stuff like "jagex this content SUCKS please FIX IT" "ruined my leagues that i'm forced to do this" when no one forced them to do it it's just a bunch of people who read somewhere that dodgy deals made mermaid agility better agility XP than corner cutter so they thought they were geniuses for picking it but they've never actually done the content before and didn't realize what they were signing up for

#i still remember all the complaints about MTA from desert pickers last year like #i'm sorry you chose to pick the MTA region???#why are you so surprised???#you could just not pick that region OR not do those tasks???#with 8x points it's not even that terrible???#and i just know its gonna happen again #especially from people who plan to do this without asgarnia and thus without flippers #yes the theoretical max xp from mermaid tears with dodgy deals is high #but i think a lottt of people who are high on that right now #are not realizing how much even with 'guaranteed success' of the theiving #how much they'll still be subject to RNG in rates #with how the chests randomly move around #when you do that activity it's best to just afk most of the time unless the chest is close enough to you #and sometimes it can go like 5-10 min without actually being in a good position to get to LMAO #i can hear the boohoooing from people who thought they were smart for picking this already #when the ppl actually theorycrafting it do know that it sucks #but ONLY are doing it specifically bc they need dodgy deals to get 200m thieving+best rate for a skilling pet task #like XP wise those guys have even said corner cutter is more efficient for etting 50m xp tasks #and the only reason dodgy deals is preferably for rank 1 rush is bc of skilling pet #but it's filtered thru to the wider discussions with people going #'omg mermaid agility is 2.5m-6m an hour with DD haha corner cutter dead'#gonna be the same people quitting over that #as the people who quit when they realized max mage shadow build was not easy nor guaranteed to get last year #leagues v #osrs sp #d
