Cool fact about Koalas actually! Their sexual dimorphism is super apparent if you know what you're looking at:

Male Koalas and only male Koalas have a scent gland on the front of their chest [used to mark territory and stuff]. It's that brown bald patch in the left photo lol.

And we've seen Buster's chest before:

Looks more like, uh, yeah! There's no patch.

There's also the other immediate difference they have, being the facial structure. Female Koalas tend to have a flatter face while the males appear bulkier and have broader faces [just look up female vs male koala and you'll see what I mean]

^^This part is a more optional detail to consider though, given just the general art style of the entire movie. Like of course they were gonna design Buster off of the simpler and more cute looking koalas, that's just kinda a given imo. The chest gland thing can also be completely ignored if you preferred, given Illumination also ignored the MUCH more obvious detail of the double thumbs [never gonna stop bitching about that 😃]. If they weren't gonna give him the extra thumbs, then they DEFINITELY weren't gonna give him a biblically accurate bald spot on his chest lol

But. If you like to hc Buster as trans? I'm here to tell you it's uhhh literally canon! So go ahead [like you needed permission]
