i’m really impressed with Ashlyn this year. she hasn’t had the greatest seasons but this year she stepped onto a whole nother level. it’s a focus I haven’t seen from her in a long time. I mean, taking the blame so that the youngins don’t get distracted, stepping up huge on pk saves so those players that caused them don’t get down on themselves, taking control when Mark abandoned the team, 40-ish saves in 11 games, all while also handling a newborn.

ali is a fantastic leader too, don’t get me wrong, but that’s ashlyn’s team. that armband is in the rightful and safest hands. hope she gets rewarded for her efforts come playoffs.

Agreed 100%. She's someone who's managed to have easily the most consistent season of any GK in the league right now (barring Casey Murphy who might be edging her out for the GOTY race), is a true leader for her team, shouldering the burden of keeping them alive even at the cost of her own health, not allowing the young ones to get in on themselves and taking the blame and criticism so they can focus on being better - the last few games she was the only Pride player on the pitch. And when it came down to her team collecting themselves and getting back together, they did it. She had a defense tonight, she had an attacking line tonight, and she could take a rest.

And boy did she deserve it.
