Top five favorite tropes to write/read and 5 you dislike?

1. Friends to lovers. I love the pining, and if it has added spice of each thinking the feelings are unrequited??? Gimme

2. Canon divergent/missing scenes. I love seeing writers take the bones of the plot and create something so entirely their own

3. Cheating/jealousy. When I say this, I mean them cheating together! Not on one another 😠 I love the illicit connection and the passion that grows between them, the yearning and the hiding and the needing each other. It's awful but I want it *chef's kiss*

4. Breakup-makeup. Again, gimme the jealousy and anger and the yearning and the finding their way back to each other

5. Time period aus. I like reading these fictional hoes being plunked into random places in time and seeing them Do Stuff

Tropes I hate:

1. Most dub-con and all Non-con. I know it serves it's purpose for some people but it's not my bag at all. At all.

2. Huge age differences. Gross. No. The younger one should be doing their homework and the older one,,, should be in jail. Or therapy. The only way I think I could ever mayne like something like this would be if it were like a Sarah Paulson/Holland Taylor type situation in a fic, and that's still a maybe

3. Manufactured angst through "Missed communication" or something that isn't done right. Do not have two characters sitting in the same room, one of them having all the answers that could fix whatever's wrong, but they just don't say it cuz uwu they don't know how to say it. Someone interrupts. They're feeling too much. No I hate that. There's has to be an actual tangible reason why they're not talking or why things have gotten fucked up. Plot holes are inevitable sometimes but good god don't just build a story off the premise of "everything fell apart because I didn't say what I should have said because... idk reasons." *sound of gun cocking* don't do that

4. Generally speaking, I'm not into like sports aus or music aus, things that rely really heavily on those kinds of setups for the story. Idk why, they just tend to not really strike with me. No hate to them specifically, but they're not my thing

5. Most kid fics. Not all (see EIB Clexa + Aden), but most fics with a lot of kid/parenting material tend to not do it for me

Favorite moment

It is hard to choose between ALL of his bits in Jugs and Rods or the Grog and Tary shopping adventure in Vasselheim. Critical Role has TONS of funny moments and there is stuff in every campaign that has really gotten to me--but nothing like this. My abs ached the next day, I was fully weeping real fucking tears over this. I am laughing just thinking about it as I am typing. Fucking iconic.

Idea for a story

I have never considered a story with Tary specifically, but you know I'd love a story that explored Tary getting back together with Lawrence and how that aspect of their love story played out! I feel like that could be a very fun romance piece.

Unpopular opinion

Genuinely an incredible character, not as a joke, not for the bit. I mean, Tary is hilarious, yes. But I don't think Sam gets enough credit for how GOOD Tary was beyond the bit. He's a top tier character and deserves more credit from the fandom for it.

Favorite relationship

I'll split this one with Percy and Vex. Tary ends up being such good friends with both of them and his friendship with Vex is something I find particularly endearing (another Sam + Laura dynamic coming through golden) and then you add the layer of Tary's close friendship and unrequited pining for Percy into the mix....that whole dynamic of the three of them is great.

Favorite headcanon

I should really just delete this question because I never have headcanons to add. Idk. I don't really do head canons.

Scanlan:

Probably my favorite of Vox Machina, not counting Tary. I don't know, he really grew on me. I think Scanlan circles around similar themes that all of Sam's PCs do, which is why I tend to gravitate toward them, you know? The eternal struggle of wanting to appear okay for your friends because you can't or won't invite the vulnerability of being honest about how you're struggling, only to hit a breaking point and lose it because no one has noticed your pain (because you have hidden it)? All the inherent complications and contradictions of that sort of thinking? Feels very realistic and relatable, for me, at least.

Favorite moment

It's so easy to choose The Bard's Lament for this. WHAT an incredible dramatic character move. Unparalleled, dramatic, complex, and it added so much to Scanlan's character and the dynamic with the group, forcing VM to sit with some things (and to get angry at him! Because he was unfair too!). I loved that shit, I ate it up.

But also, Scanlan's return to VM and trying to Modify Memory on Vex only to whiff it and her just hugging him. I fucking love that, too.

Idea for a story

You know, the thing is, this question is tickling some kind of memory of mine that I had actually planned to write something about Scanlan/Pikelan and I just cannot remember what on earth it was going to be. I can't even think of anything else, I'm just annoyed I can't remember what I was going to do, now

Unpopular opinion

I don't think Scanlan blowing up at VM and saying unfair things to them makes him a bad person or selfish or [insert whatever other thing here]. I think he was unwell, and had some valid reasons to be upset, and spoke in anger in a very human moment wherein neither party was entirely wrong or right. People apply judgement to that scene a lot, I think because it's very emotionally jarring, it's aggressive and unexpected and it prompts strong feeling because of that, but I don't think there's any judgment to be applied. VM was wrong about some things, Scanlan was wrong about some things. A big bundle of tragically human conflict, honestly, which is why it's fantastic.

Favorite relationship

Probably Grog. I love that whole corner of VM (Grog and his gnomes) and all their dynamics, but you can really feel such a camaraderie and care between these two that I love. Also Vex (that Sam + Laura dynamic always hits, I suppose)

What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?

I have some clear favorites, but I'm open to new ships, too! I've been in a chokehold with Haikaveh and Ratiorine for while, I enjoy the dynamics and complexities of their relationships--both from a non-romantic and romantic sense. I enjoy Cynonari and have been dabbling in some Mozeqiu. Reigisa was a big one for me from Free! many, many years ago.

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

First, what I'm not willing to write: underage and non-con. If I write these, it's for character development, and written in a character's past. If an RP led to non-con, for whatever reason that is pre-discussed, it'd fade to black. I'm cool with n/sf/w, but I do draw the line at that.

In general, I'm willing to write a lot of different things when it comes to shipping. I do love some of the cliché tropes of childhood friends to lovers, friends to loves, enemies to lovers, etc. I'm perfectly fine with adult themes (both dark and n/sf/w).

Give me angst, give me hurt/comfort, give me conflict, give me tooth-rotting fluff, silly misunderstandings, steamy moments of passion. I love the 'getting together' part the most I think when it comes to ships. The 'will they or won't they', the uncertainties of the characters involved, the fear of unrequited feelings, of changing or ruining an already good friendship. I love that mind racing, heart thumping, sweating palms, shaking hands... breaking down the walls of someone who has been through trauma, learning how to navigate the world together. Idk man, there's so much.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

If both are consenting adults, I don't have too much of an issue with age gaps. It can be an interesting thing to play around with depending on the ship. Obviously, with fantasy characters that can live thousands of years, a 1200 year old with a 25 year old isn't that odd to me.

Are you selective when shipping?

I can be. I try to play my characters as canon compliant and try not to delve too far into OOC territory unless it's silly lil crack RPs. AU's are different, and while there's more room for some canon divergence, I still try to keep the character's personality, interests, flaws, etc all the same. Come characters are harder to ship with and might require more discussion or minor plotting, but I'm always open to do that.

In general, I'm pretty open to discussing relationships and dynamics. I do have my own preferences, as do the muses I have. Most of my muses are men and while most I could see as being bi with a male preference, there are a couple that are strictly homosexual and shipping with a lady isn't going to happen. Friendship is always open, though!

As far as exclusivity, I don't have any exclusives. I feel I haven't been around long enough to consider exclusives for any of my muses. If there comes a time when I do, I'll make note of it, but I tend to not limit myself to exclusivity. Perhaps it's from experiences in my past and not wanting to make anyone feel left out like I used to be, Idk?

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

If hands are wandering below the belt and it's clear that things are going to progress further I'll tag it as such. I do have a 'cw: suggestive' tag for things I would deem as steamy, but not necessarily E rated.

I'm okay writing such stuff here on tumblr, but I'm also fine relegating it to Discord if a writing partner prefers. I've been in the RP community a long time, smut is nothing new to me and I enjoy writing it.

Who are other muses you ship your muse with?

So, I have my favorites, of course. Having just returning to the RP community within the past year, I haven't really had a chance to explore other ships with my muses than my OTPs. I'm certainly not against it! Sometimes there's chemistry between two characters you'd never think there would be, and that can be fun.

Feel free to ask me! I'd be down to talk about potential ships that are outside my OTPs.

Does one have to ask to ship with you?

I do prefer it, unless it's clear we're both down to ship that ship. Even then, I don't typically auto-ship two characters in an established relationship. Like I've mentioned, I enjoy the build up to that point. I'm okay with characters already harboring some feelings, but maybe not yet acting on them.

A few of my OTPs tend to have the feeling of 'do not separate' based on their friendships, intertwined histories, in-series/game interactions and content, etc. But I still prefer a lead up to anything established. uwu

How often do you like to ship?

My favorite thing to write is romance. I love shipping, I always have. While I do tend to primarily write ships, I also really love other relationship dynamics. So please don't let that stop you from having platonic friendships or familial bonds with my muses.

Are you multiship?

Yep! All ships are in their own separate universe, there's no infidelity going on here.

Are you ship obsessed or ship more-or-less?

I do love my ships a lot, and consume a lot of media of them (fan art, fanfics, etc), but I have other interests outside of them. I want my muses to build bonds with characters that aren't a ship, as well.

What is your favorite ship in your current fandom?

Being a multi-muse, I'm in a few fandoms, haha.

For Genshin, it's definitely Haikaveh. I've loved their dynamic from the start--in a world full of fantasy and magic, they're just two regular guys whose lives are intertwined.

For HSR, it'd gotta be Ratiorine. Their dynamic is really interesting and it's clear there's a connection there that's more than just business partners. There's this mutual respect for each other, even if it's never spoken much to one another. They're both complex characters. I'm so intrigued by how their relationship may change as the game continues on.

As for other previous fandoms, I loved Reigisa in Free!, Victuuri in Yuri!!! On Ice, Kagehina in Haikyuu!!, and others I know I can't remember. YoI and Haikyuu aren't muses on here more bc I don't have a confident grasp on them.

Finally, how does one ship with you?

Ask me! I'd prefer you be straightforward with it because I am a bit anxious sometimes to do so. If it's listed on my 'shipping' section of my rules, or I've reblogged stuff with a ship, I'm usually always down! I don't bite, I promise!

A/N. Y'all. Have you seen airport Yoongi 2022? Also, wrote this while on the road so forgive me if it's sloppy. 🥹

FLASHBACK

Smoke filled your lungs, an endless circle of tobacco and the smell of fried eggs and grilling meat as you tried to push your sweaty hair to the side, the sun beating down on your bare fore arms, the prickling heat shoved at the forefront of your mind incessantly.

You just know you were going to get a tan in weird places with the way your shirt sleeves were haphazardly rolled up to your shoulders and the frayed edge tied to a side knot just above your hip bone.

If anything you looked like a poster girl for Rosie the Riveter minus the iconic red polka-dotted headband.

You had foregone wearing shorts, opting for jeans instead as you weren't really all that comfortable showing a good amount of skin below your stomach and so it was sweltering hot as you attempted with a mild grunt to carry the multitude of colored boxes for a new resident of the Hen House - you think you've read one labelled Toys and you weren't born yesterday to decipher what that had meant.

With a blush, you enter the comfortable air conditioned lobby of the home, the receptionist smiling behind the desk before going back to jot down something on her clipboard, and you trudge up the winding staircases down to the east wing.

The Hen House, built upon an old abandoned convent back in the day boasted a sprawling ten-acre enclave lined with all kinds of trees and greenery, a massive lake just behind the structure where you mostly loved to spend your time lounging by the docks whenever you didn't have anything to do, feeding whatever woodland creature graced you with it's presence so you tended to pocket an assortment of nuts and bits and pieces of bread whenever you visit.

It was actually one of the adopted social services program for Kyung Hee, the university you were attending, extending help to women (and men) who previously worked in the under hood of Korea's red light districts and were trying to turn over a new page in their battered, worn out books.

Initially you were hesitant, what with your swamped schedule but your professor had convinced you otherwise in exchange for raising your GPA so you had agreed without thinking too much of the consequences.

Passing through the hallways all while giving a wave or two to the relatively cheerful residents doing their own thing, you come to a stop in front of a wooden door.

Lightly nudging it open, you toddle through and gently place the boxes in a corner of the room out of harm's way.

"Thanks, sweet cheeks."

Startled, you almost smack the tall intruder in his handsome face. "Oh fuck, sorry!" You bow as he barely dodges from your hands before he chuckles, bringing your flailing to a stop.

Your eyes land on the love handles peeking through his white cropped shirt.

Like a fish out of water, you blatantly ogle the dude, only to curse under your breath- first house rule, never ever check out the residents (at least openly) for several reasons, one of them being a violation of their dignity and privacy after everything they went through to get to this point.

But you couldn't help it! He easily towered over you and he was huge, like he ate protein shakes for breakfast every morning.

Clearing your throat, you hold out a hand in greeting. "I'm LN YN."

The attractive stranger nods taking your hand in his for a brief shake. "Kim Matthew, but you may call me BM."

You give him a genuine, welcoming smile. "Well then, BM, I hope you like your new home. The people here can be a handful, and crazy, and sometimes pushes all your buttons and smoke like they're sixty-five but they're all caring on the inside." You state plainly only to flush when you realize you were babbling.

You give a hasty bow, "Also, I'll be in your care from now on."

He grins, white canines glinting, the tear drop earrings he sported shimmers in the mid afternoon light streaming through the curtains as he pats your head consolingly almost amused at your little display and you look up at him shyly. "Likewise, YN."

You have a strong feeling you and him would get along just fine.

BM, as it turns out, became your bosom buddy even if you hadn't known him for long.

He was very well likeable and was basically good at everything, from cooking to building that cat dream house one of the matrons had always wanted, and writing poems that could rival Namjoon's, you were starting to think all beautiful people were blessed by the gods themselves.

And BM was really good at writing. Like insanely good.

So it isn't a wonder when one day, as you were raking leaves in the garden, he comes running out thrusting sheafs of paper against your face, getting you cross eyed as you tentatively take them from his excited grasp.

"I got in, YN!" He screams with giddiness and you stare confused only for your creased brows to unfurl, a giant smile lighting up your haggard demeanor.

BM had been accepted to Kyung Hee as a Literature Major under a scholarship.

The best part was, he would be sponsored to go to an Ivy League school of his choice as long as he kept his grades up.

"Woah, this is awesome!" You tell him, proud at his accomplishments as he basically lifts you up and twirls you around like you weighed nothing.

Having been a former stripper for a BDSM club, your friend didn't have many options in his career, most regarding him with an underlying sort of disgust, a used commodity but it seems the Literature department of your university thought he had great potential ahead of him if they were willing to go so far as to let him finish a Master's Degree abroad.

Once back in your feet, your beefy friend hesitates. "But... I'll be moving into the dorms before the semester starts."

You snort and smack him lightly on the chest, the only part reachable for your five foot, two inches. "Don't worry about me, dummy. I go to the same university too. Dorm visitations are allowed on weekends. And it's not like you can't just text me to meet up or something. "

He chuckles, but then his sharp eyes stray to somewhere behind you as he subconsciously grips your fingers in his. "Yeah, that's not what I'm worried about." He whispers seriously and you shoot a look at the middle aged man tottering a few steps away towards the sidewalk, as if he had just been caught peering through the fence.

You freeze. Who was that? This was the third time in a row you've caught him staring at you.

Somehow, and you don't know why but that behavior reminded you of the Bogeyman when you were younger.

You shuddered.

BM does not let you get home alone that night as he steadfastly refuses to let you drive alone. "I'll just take a cab on the way back." He says, tone final and you don't argue.

Knowing your friend for over a year now, his instincts for bad things were usually a little too spot on, (like that time you showed him a photo of an apartment you were looking into leasing which thankfully you didn't as turns out it was a trap house) having been honed by dealing with seedy and unsavory clients for almost half of his street rat years.

Maybe you should report that incident to the police just in case.

You give him a farewell kiss on the cheek and watch him walk the driveway, past the security who open the gates for him, and back into the shadows, only for you to stop in your tracks as you feel someone watching your backside (surely it wasn't the gatekeeper) and not wasting any time, you run into the house almost colliding into one of the boys dogs.

"Woof!"

You heave a sigh of relief as the brown poodle clings to your leg, tail wagging. "Holly, you scared me! " You coo only for her owner to come stumbling out into the foyer sleepily.

"Oh, you're back." He then frowns checking the clock on the wall and is fairly surprised that it's around two in the morning. He pauses awkwardly by the foot of the stairs. "...Had a hot date?" Yoongi drawls albeit uncomfortably, though you can't tell with the way his lips break out into his usual smirk.

You don't know why that gets to you, it's just a question, but it does anyway and with how tired you were the entire goddamn day and the lingering fear still rooted in your bones, a bit of light leaves your irises. "Eh." You shrug neither denying or confirming and brush past him, leaving Holly yapping in the background and her owner stumped because it was the first time you acted like you he was a roommate and nothing more.

Not a member of your makeshift family.

Not the man who hung the moon and the stars.

Not the man who broke your heart countless of times as he and his brothers came home looking thoroughly fucked and sated.

Nothing.

Frantic footsteps follow you, "...are you hungry?"

You stop and he stops, his dog in tow, sitting her butt on the marbled floor. "I'm sleepy. Good night, Yoongi. " Your tone borders on a heavy sort of finality and you trudge up to your room without another word, not caring a shit what he thought about you at the moment.

Maybe tomorrow would be better.

The next morning finds you buried bone deep in volunteer work.

It was Sunday, and with no boyfriend or social life outside of your boys you had offered to clean the old lake shed at the Hen House.

It was a dusty old shack if anything, filled with miscellaneous stuff old residents had left and some rusty machinery which could fetch a notable price at some obscure junkyard by the roadside.

If only you weren't alone (not discounting the receptionist and the cook who were always on duty) but the other staff had the day off and since most of the residents were capable of running the place anyway, they were left to their own devices.

You cough up a storm as the pile of books on the shelf topples, leaving you wheezing in a particle cloud of dust bunnies.

The shed may be grimy but it was pretty workable as it was small, big enough to fit at most four of you.

You huff, putting on a mask and hyping your spirits to do some shit cleaning because you were not going to leave this place without scrubbing every single inch, every nook and cranny until you were satisfied.

"Let's do this, YN."

It takes you approximately until seven into the evening to finish everything and you collapse in the now waxed and polished floor, muscles aching and moaning.

All things that could still be of use were boxed and taped up to be sent to the lost and found department just in case some of the residents wanted to 'dumpster dive'.

The stuff that were practically trash was going to be shipped off to the junkyard tomorrow. Recycle and all that shit.

With a tired whine, you allow yourself to partially doze off to slumber, only minutes later, something cold taps your ankle until long fingers are grasping them and you jump up, shrieking in shock.

The old man you had seen with BM last night was here. Inside the shed. With you.

Shit!

Before you can even run out to call for help, a force yanks you back and you land on the hardwood with a thump.

You refuse to look anywhere but at him, thinking this was the way you were going to die and you'd rather not hold the face of your murderer in the afterlife lest you never find peace, only for him to practically bend abnormally close down to your level.

You gasp when you are left staring at milky white orbs and yellowed rotten teeth, "Save me." The old man gasps and you scream.

He hates you.

Well, he actually doesn't.

He was annoyed, irritated, with the fact that you were hugging a man twice the size of the Sigma leader.

And he was a fucking dwarf compared to the guy's bulging pectorals.

"YN?!"

He growls lowly, though the only people who heard were his brothers as you climb the big buffoon like he wanted you to climb his dick.

Something gnaws at his chest, straining, making his insides blaze with unbridled fury and bitterness as he witnesses how happy you looked, something he --they have never seen on you before.

And it hurts.

It fucking hurts.

"Guys, this is BM! He's a good friend of mine!" You wave them over, glowing and positively beautiful that the twinge grows deeper, like a knife stabbed him in his lungs.

A friend? He's never heard of this BM. Not until now. Dread fills his already fucked up emotional spectrum solely thanks to you.

Just how much of your life outside of them did they miss?

He glances at the others who mirror the same kind of trepidation as they all survey the gothic structure, the concrete seemingly intimidating even as they were used to grandeur.

There was something eerie about this place and if you had been working here for a long time right under their noses, he doesn't even want to imagine what kind of horrors you faced.

And as you pull them all in to meet curious faces, he swallows, hiding his disdain as he realizes just how far away you were from them.

Fuck.

They fucked up.

I really love all of the companions even though I hate the companions history. I feel like characters like Athis and Ria don't get enough love compared to more popular ones like the twins and Aela. Ria is like the nicest person to you when join! Shes still learning and likes hanging out with Vilkas! Shes nice! And Athis is the only elf unless you play an elf character. Which opens up a lot of cool dynamic stuff about his own experiences in the companions and how your presence could change things!

Secondly, I am happy to make you smile even just with a simple ask 💖 and thank you for being so kind and sweet 😊 I usually send asks to authors and send them my feedback especially feelings with what they are writing or probably what I am currently reading from my fics and I tell you, I don't think I'm a warm person? 🙈 I tend to send asks sounding super happy, sad, frustrated and even angry whatever emotion I feel after reading a fic or an updatelol. I think some who receives my asks/messages tend to get the vibes or mood I'm currently in but I try my best to send messages kindly and respectfully since I don't want to hurt someone through my words. And just show how much I appreciate all authors here as much as possible. 🤗

Lastly, I would love to talk to you because I love talking to new people but I tend to get lost with topics so I do stick with sending messages as an anon 😬 and I just hope to give some love and encouragement to different writers here. 💞 Speaking of which, do you also write? I do navigate your blog but it kinda gets overwhelming sometimes like I want to read a lot of it and another thing, idol aus aren't really on my top list as well just like fantasy au, arranged marriage au, supernatural au and a lot more but can't remember what type specifically but because of you I started reading some (not all though still not that into it but I try) of it and appreciate it. I was just scrolling through my feed thar I saw the First Love, Last Love and I scrolled past it like multiple times since I'm not into idol aus but I kinda read a part/chapter you shared then eventually decided to start from chapter 1 and I was hooked so I resulted to asking you for recommendations because you're the reason I saw and read FLFL. And I realized that it was a nice change of genre (pace?) than what I usually read so thank you so so much!

Yeah, I was about to share around 4 to 5 fics but the more I look at my reblogs I kept adding this or that because I thought “wait Navy is good, it’s a must read.” “Oh wait I should include this fic” So there. 😁

Someone said it’s so organized but it felt messy to me.  I just pulled from my blogs and posted everything so I feel like I should fix it (I will organize per member). I’d like to eventually just put a catalog with links that’ll lead to reblogs because I think seeing the reblogs is a good teaser to start reading (like in your case you kept seeing FLFL on your dash and the summary, the banner, other details probably hooked you in ). But lists are also good because when you google tropes/AUs, lists usually pop up versus the fic itself. So either way, they have purpose.

Second, I think it’s nice that you actually put in effort to communicate with authors! I just try to reblog or comment sometimes but I hope others get to see the fics and get inspired to read or try them. I think your tone is still warm but I guess we have moods too, right? But it’s great you are putting in effort to engage. I think authors will appreciate that. 

Third, No I don’t write! hahaha I wish I could. But I read more than write. I could probably tell a story but writing it is different. I get what you mean that blogs can be overwhelming. Even I get overwhelmed realizing I was actually reading a lot of fics. I guess I don’t notice it anymore I just read then reblog, read then reblog 🤭. The lists help me organize everything but it’s just meant to be a reference... in case someone needs it (even I refer to it from time to time) 

I think AUs are layered too. Like I don’t like IDOL AUs but I would read if other themes are included (like there’s fake dating or bodyguard, etc). So even if I don’t read Sports AUs, there are probably a hundred of them I’ve read because I was more focused on the other tropes (like unrequited love or something else)
