ACE AND LUFFY AND IMPEL DOWN

Yes, hello, I am a youngest sibling and I am having a lot of feelings about these siblings and this arc

I am not sure why this specific panel from ch 534 has me so emotional about this but like-

Luffy is charging in to rescue his big brother.

Luffy knows that Ace wouldn't want Luffy to come rescue him.... But he's thinking of it as being because Ace has his own pride and his own adventures

This is from ch 490, right after they learn about vivre cards and see that Ace's is burning.

And again in 522 when Luffy hears about the scheduled execution.

Luffy trusts his big brother to manage on his own. His brother is strong, and capable, and doesn't need Luffy worrying about him.

It isn't until Luffy hears about the execution that he decides he needs to intervene.

And in all this, it doesn't even seem to OCCUR to Luffy that the reason Ace wouldn't want Luffy trying to rescue him is because Ace doesn't want him getting hurt.

For some contrast here is Ace, the first time we meet him all the way back in chapter 157. Looking for his baby brother.

Ace jumps in front of a punch that would have hit Luffy, deals with the guy doing the punching, thanks the crew for taking care of Luffy, invites Luffy and his crew to join the Whitebeard Pirates (even though he knows Luffy will say no), and gives Luffy his vivre card- with zero explanations about what it is!!! But he trusts that Luffy will keep it safe until he needs it! (And Luffy does!!)

I will never forget the look on my older sister's face when we finally met up again after we got separated while running to catch a train. I realized that she didn't know if I'd even made it on, and worried about me the whole time, and was so relieved to see me safe.

Meanwhile, I had been pleased to make it on the train, and it hadn't even occurred to me to worry about her. She was my big sister, of course she'd be fine!!

It was jarring to realize that my big sister had been looking out for me so seriously this whole time, and that maybe now we were grown up it was also my job??? To look after her?????

Luffy has these same younger sibling vibes all over him- Zoro agrees.

I'm reading this arc for the first time and I only know a little about what's what's coming but this relationship is already so incredibly real and so incredibly heartbreaking. I'm not ready.

In conclusion, this panel from chapter 522 is filled with so much love, and I'm entirely fine about it!!!!!!!

JJK chapters 156 – 158 reaction and spoilers

Chapter 156

Luckily this is a good place to jump in and I know enough major spoilers from the Shibuya arc I don’t think there will be any super major surprises.

Of course it’s the Southern Cross as a plot point while I’m currently marathoning Fist of the North Star.

I would like to point out that the constellation does have five stars associated with it. It looks a bit like +. with a fifth star in the bottom right quadrant. So it wouldn’t surprise me if perhaps Kirara is acting as that fifth star, which if so I’m curious if we’ll find out the other two anchor points farther away from the door than Fushiguro and Panda.

Going to just assume this is Fist of the North Star inspired because not only the Southern Cross but also the attack is called “Love Rendezvous” and the famous You は Shock opening song’s title translates to something like “Take Back Love.” Reuniting with a lover is also part of the driving plot of the first arc as well.

I was both right and wrong about the star order mostly because I was taught that the star they call Ginan in the chapter is the fifth star of the constellation, but here it’s marked as the fourth.

Chapter 157

Wonder if the guy Itadori’s fighting has some kind of friction curse where he can increase air resistance or something. It’ll be interesting to find out the explanation.

Chapter 158

Knew Gojo got sealed. Didn’t know principal died. That’s a plot point that sounds like it’s going be tough to watch when the anime gets there (or I get my hands on the graphic novels eventually when it’s safer to go to the library).

”He died fighting a higher up [after Shibuya].” Definitely going to be heartbreaking but interesting when I get there.

Given that Junpei, Nanami, and the Principal both died I’m kind of curious if I’m right about how the manga ends. I mean obviously the manga ends when Itadori dies, but I keep thinking about how his grandpa said, “When it's your time to go, make sure you're surrounded by others. Don't end up like me,” and how that might mean Itadori will have living friends and dead friends around him when he dies. Like he definitely won’t die alone, he’s going to have people will him on both sides.

I read up on the culling game rules since it was easy to find. Since this player has made a new rule they must have killed at least twenty sorcerers, which given their character design, I would believe that’s possible.

”They [the sorcerers participating in the culling game] were stronger 400 years ago. Where is Sukuna?” Ominous. Also ominous they’ve got 200 points, which means 40 sorcerers.

Fushiguro’s like “We’ll discuss [how Sukuna fists into this] later,” and it’s like boy I hope so because I am curious about his past.

ngl I’m not super into plots like culling games, which is why I never got into the Hunger Games franchise, but I’m curious what Akutami is going to do with the material and this is a good place to jump into the manga, so I’m glad I got caught up now.

tbh i was asking because i know koko wasn’t into inui, but the kiss scene caught me so off guard even though it had already been spoiled for me that two of the male characters kiss i just didn’t know it was THOSE TWO. (should’ve guessed tho when i saw inui’s high heels) (loved them btw) and why i was asking what you thought of it is because i wasn’t sure if you’d read it yet or not. also because the fact koko started crying afterwards was like ….. disturbing in a way because i feel like he knew it was inui he was kissing. and i don’t understand why he did that. like maybe it’s simple and he was just thinking of akane but idk it feels like that scene was wayyy more important to those two’s story. idk i was understanding the plot perfectly until then now i feel like what happened with those two makes no sense even if it was clearly explained in the manga.. it still feels like there’s context missing. anyways in on 182 rn …. crying

i didn't know they were gonna kiss so when they did I was so shocked HAHAHA i think i stopped reading at the kiss and when to message my friend like "if they're actually a thing, they might be cute" until Koko said Akane's name and I took it back so fast LMAO once you know the whole story, that entire chapter is lowkey fucked and super tragic.

i'm not too sure either but maybe it was trying to imply that maybe this whole time Koko still sees seishu as akane or wishes he was akane instead? Like idk saving Akane from the fire and it turning out to be Seishu instead, maybe Koko's still trying to "save" her by saving Inui, hence the whole "when will you accept im not akane" thing??? So maybe that explains why they take different paths, and why Koko doesn't want to go with Inui? Inui has a chance for a revival at the old black dragons, and Koko is still obsessed over power and money, so he still tried to "save" inui??? HAHAHA sorry if this doesn't make sense, nonnie! tbh i haven't really given their story much thought until now....I do hope there's a better future for them bc they were quite a nice duo.

also 182?? i loved the whole of the teniku arc so much!! personally i didn't like some of the chapters towards the end but the majority of that arc is so good! It's myy second favorite next to the black dragons arc!!
