tendou as your boyfriend

✧ listen, tendou is the most playful boyfriend ever. never let your guard down around him because you will regret it - but you’ll never find anyone who accepts you as completely as he does. 

✧ he likes pulling weird faces at you to rile you up. whether you’re lying in bed together, sitting on other sides of the room, or even at a restaurant,,, tendou’s always got a strange expression ready to go. if you pull them back he’s ready to die for you. 

✧ he likes to hang off you. his arms are usually wrapped around your shoulders as he rolls back on his heels, as he tries to support as little of his own weight as possible. he’s always hanging off other stuff, too; mostly poles and furniture. what i’m basically getting at is that he’s never balancing on his own feet. 

✧ he’s just,,, a big tease. tendou enjoys riling people up, and you’re not spared from that. but he’s more interested in seeing you flustered than frustrated. he’s always pulling out the strangest compliments, and he’s very affectionate. he just likes to see you blush, because he thinks it’s unbelievably cute. 

✧ he’s very understanding. tendou’s patient and gentle with your feelings and quite adept at respecting your boundaries. he wants to make sure you feel heard and respected. he knows how much it hurts to be treated like garbage and he’ll do everything in his power to make sure you never feel like that. 

✧ he’s very accepting of you, no matter what. it’s almost unconditional, to be honest; he knows that a lot of people don’t understand him very well, and he’s grateful that you do. in return, he’ll stand with you through nearly everything. be as weird as you want; it just makes him love you more.

✧ he’s scarily good at reading you. man’s got good intuition, and it’s very hard to hide things from him. but don’t worry, he uses his powers for good - most of the time. it makes him quite attentive, and he’s very aware of your moods and boundaries. 

✧ honestly, he can get a little insecure. and sometimes, he can’t quite wrap his head around the fact that you’re dating him. you can always tell he’s been hit by a bout of insecurity because he gets unusually quiet; all you can do is let him wrap himself around you like a koala, and let him hold you for a while. 

✧ he’s always showing you off though. the basic gist of it is him being like ‘wow, i can’t believe i’m with such a catch!!’ and then bragging to anyone who’ll listen. he also has a tendency to be,,, overwhelmingly proud?? achieve literally anything and tendou’s going to spread the news like it’s the most important thing that’s happened all week.  

✧ he’s also the sort to bottle things up, and he has trouble being vulnerable. he struggles to speak frankly about how he genuinely feels, and often embellishes what he’s saying with jokes. but he finds it deeply touching when you try to help take his walls down and he’s always impressed by how easily you identify when he’s trying to downplay what’s really going on. 

✧ you end up spending a lot of time with ushijima, much to everyone’s surprise. you’d learn how to get along with him just by watching tendou, and you tend to let your partner do most of the talking. but watching you make a real effort with him is enough to get tendou’s heart going. honestly, he just loves watching you be kind. not that he’s going to say that out loud, though; no, he’ll just tease you for it.

✧ he’s got a solid collection of the most esoteric memes. it might take you a while to get used to them (unless your own sense of humour is a bit absurd), but after a while you’ll start to find them quite evocative. he’s just got a knack for expressing himself through nothing but nobody’ll be able to make you laugh quite like he can. 

✧ he tends to bring the weirdest shit home for you. like, a super smooth rock, or a bootleg simpsons figurine, or a pamphlet on gecko rearing. stuff of that ilk. he always hands it over while saying ‘i thought you’d like it.’ suffice to say any place you shared would be littered with the most bizarre decor. 

✧ he likes going on dates to weird art house exhibitions and film festivals. basically, if it’s weird, he’s down for it. a lot of the time, he likes to keep it a secret; you don’t actually know what you’re doing or seeing until you get there. you’re always surprised by what he takes you to, and you can’t help but wonder how he finds out about them. but hey, it’s usually fun. and if it’s not,,, well, it’ll give you two a lot to talk about. 

✧ all in all, dating tendou’s absolutely a wild ride, but he’s an attentive and loving partner who does his best to ensure that you feel respected
