Today in Things I've Learned In Anthropology Class That Make Me Want To Strangle Dead Anthropologists: Franz Boas was an actual grave robber. No, really. He admitted it. He once wrote "It is most unpleasant work to steal bones from a grave, but what is the use, someone has to do it." I cannot emphasize enough that no one had to do it. There was no good reason to do it. He just did because he was a racist asshole who valued his own curiosity and career advancement over human decency. I vengefully would like someone to steal his bones and see how he likes it.
