❛ I use to dream about the other side, a sun rising on the skyline with a beautiful rainbow ❜

melancholy —– that’s truly the only word she can use to describe this sweet, warm sadness that’s come to envelop her ‘pon such a confession. it resonates. catches her, not off guard, but a little too close to home. for it was a dream they, as a people, had all shared at some point in their long lives.
to once again set foot ‘pon that land they had been cast from. to revel in the warmth of the sun’s light. to make merry beneath the ever stretching blues of a sky they had never once been privy to see in person. to dwell in a light that didn’t scorch and sear their very skin the second it captured them within it’s glinting warmth. to be welcomed back into a land only their ancestors had thrived in.
it was a dream shared by most within the tranquility of twilight. whether it be spoken aloud or kept close, safe and hidden from the waking world.  ——– it’s almost ironic, how fear had been the undoing of their ancestors, and how it would swiftly come again to burden them all once the veil of forced twilight finally lifted.

”you must see how what you’ve done —- what you’re doing will cost us.” her jaw sets. a stubborn facade to stave off the still bitter fires of betrayal. it was a notion she could comprehend and share. but the air between had long since stifled, and thus left no room for any sort of camaraderie.
“you’ve cursed our land, and our people ——- this calamity you’ve righted ‘pon the world of light will do nothing but strengthen the fear they hold over our kind. it’ll keep us locked away from the very world you ——- we had dreamed of.”
