Wait wait I literally have a whole internal brain map when it comes to the whole messed up celestial family.
(putting in under the cut because it got long... So sorry op πŸ˜…)
So to me it makes sense that first Chuck dabbled and created Eve (not Adam And Eve eve, the other Eve) then came the Leviathan ECT.
During this time is when I think Chuck creates Purgatory to lock away Eve/the Leviathan and all those guys, and the reason why I think it happens around this time is because Death says in Meet The New Boss Chuck was afraid they would "Chomp the whole petri dish" now it's unclear if by petri dish he means Everything (all creations included, angels etc) or if he means just Earth/Humanity. I'm assuming it's angels included since the Leviathan can very easily kill the angels/archangels.
After that, Chuck continues to create and makes the Archangels
It always made sense to me that after he created the Archangels is when he created Heaven so that the Archangels have somewhere to reside.
Then after that is when he has the Archangels help him lock away Amara and then Lucifer is given the mark of Cain (in the show we know all the angels that have no clue about the darkness even Castiel, and Hannah also says the line in Form And Void "No the darkness is a myth" which lets us know that the Archangels probably told the story of The Darkness much like how parents tell kids stories of certain things to scare them or make them behave)
Then after is when all the hundred other angels come into their existence (and since we're kinda focusing on Castiel here I always took it as Cannon that Cas was one of the younger angels [my personal head Cannon is he's the baby of the family but we'll forget about that for a second] and I say this because of three/four dialogue examples from the show which also cover the events that possibly happened next
1. Castiel's monologue from The Man Who Would Be King, the infamous line "I remember watching a little grey fish heave itself up on the beach, and an older brother saying, β€˜dont step on that fish Castiel, big plans for that fish’". I always though that that line sounds very much something you would say to a very younger sibling whose still a kid. So after the angels we have livings things coming into existence (tiny grey fish) but it seems that Castiel is rather young when this happens though (at least to me)
During this time is probably when humanity starts to evolve (Adam & Eve and that whole thing and their kids) etc and when Lucifer starts to rebel.
2. Then we have Lucifer's dialogue to Cas when they first meet - "Castiel, Right?" They're both very unfamiliar with each other but there is some recognition probably meaning; after Lucifer's reveling to bow down to humanity is when he fell and it's likely that Castiel was young during when this happened.
3. I just want to mention now that Cas is very unfamiliar with Gadreel that even Metatron when he's posing as Gabriel in Meta Fiction says the line "Gadreel? That old chestnut?" Which again kinda tells us that Metatron, Gadreel (and probably Abner by relation) are older than Cas.
Then we have the whole Garden shenanigans that happened. So we have Lucifer banned from Heaven but not in the hell/the cage yet. Chuck creates The Gardens and chucks Adam, Eve, & Lilith in their and has Gadreel stationed to protect the Garden. Of course the original story they tell was that Lucifer/the serpent tricks Gadreel, sneaks into the Garden and corrupts Lilith into a demon, then he tricks Adam and Eve into eating the Forbidden fruit which prompts Chuck to banish them from the garden to earth and sends Lucifer & Lilith to Hell.
(One thing that the show does though is that we end up finding out that The Serpent and Lucifer are not the same thing in Destiny's Child. My best guess is Lucifer created The Serpent and used it to trick Gadreel to gain entrance to The Garden, but the Serpent when it talks to Jack simply asks who he is and who he is meant to be... it seems that all the Serpent was able to do was bring out the truth of who that person was/wanted hence both Lucifer saying that he wasn't to blame for humanity faults and Gadreel saying what happened wasn't his fault.)
It seems during this time that Lucifer starts to turn as much as humanity as he can into demons to help him probably fight once again against heaven/Chuck. During this we have what happens with Cain and Abel, Lucifer tries to corrupt Abel into a Demon but Cain makes a deal in exchange for Abel's soul in heaven Cain has to kill him himself and his soul goes to hell; Cain makes the first blade, kills Abel, and then Lucifer passes off the mark where it remains with Cain.
(we also have the whole topic of the Shedim which has an unknown creator but was locked away in the deepest part of hell so, it's possible during the whole demon creating that the Shedim came into being but either Chuck or Lucifer realized it's sheer power and they locked it away)
But during this time Chuck realizes that Hell can't contain Lucifer so he makes the Cage. Ultimately Lucifer looses the War and Chuck makes Michael lock Lucifer away in the cage.
The show never specifies when exactly Gabriel fakes his death and leaves but in Changing Channels we have his line of "I love my Father, my brothers. Love them. But watching them turn on each other? Tear at each other's throats? I couldn't bear it! Okay? So I left." So he either left during the first War or during when Lucifer gets locked in the cage, again, it never specifies, he does know of all the events that happened in heaven, but it could just be him keeping tabs on his family too.
Then finally Chuck probably left real soon after making Michael lock Lucifer in the cage to be honest leaving Michael in charge of well... Everything.
And again it seems that Cas was probably sorta young during these final events too because of his dialogue to Michael in Our Father Who Aren't In Heaven"We didn't know each other very well, and our last meeting was... unpleasant" & "You know, Michael, I never really liked you. Even when I was just another angel, I thought you were too haughty". Now that could be that after Everything and with Lucifer and Chuck just leaving that Michael just became hardened to everyone and everything and pushed everyone away meaning that the younger angels probably don't have a lot of good memories of them and stuff.
Or a lot of this dialogue can trace back to the whole line from Samandriel in Torn And Frayed"They're controlling us Castiel" and the line from Ion in The Great Escapist "They've been in all of our heads" and of course the interaction between Cas and Naomi "How many time have you torn into my head and washed it clean?" "Frankly, too damn many." Maybe, once upon a time they all were a loving family but Naomi/The higher Angels/The Archangel's (how ever you see/interpret it) ordered for it all to be erased... Anyways I'm just rambling now πŸ˜…
But that's my two cents on how I always pictured the order of the whole celestial time line to go!
question (for fic writing purposes): when did chuck create angels? chronologically i mean, castiel didn't witness creation, he was made after, right? or by creation do we mean "of humankind" and so he did witness it? I mean did chuck create everything at once or were there steps?
