Was idly listening through Brandon Yates fan Death Battle match-up songs and ran into this.
So the Death Battle Twitter is running a poll to determine who would win: Junko Enoshima vs Springtrap. Do you have any thoughts on that face off?. (It's for an episode of their podcast, not for an episode of the actual show)
Oh, Junko, easy. She has practically limitless resources and an inexhaustible supply of Monokumas, which can fight evenly with Sakura Ogami. She could massacre the entire cast of Five Nights at Freddy's without ever leaving her control room.
...which is petty ironic given the game in question, come to think of it.
This is made worse when you apply Death Battle logic to it. Battleboards often distort characters wildly beyond what the literal reading of their abilities was ever supposed to be.
Like, it's practically a running joke that nearly every single character ever written moves at massively FTL speeds because somewhere in their character history you can probably find a moment where they dodged a laser or laser-like projectile.
Battleboards thrive on taking everything as literally as possible to create the wildest, most ultra-powerful interpretation of a character they could ever conceive. Just glancing at Junko's Versus Wiki, they say her punches can at the weakest level buildings "because she scales to Makoto Naegi".
That's battleboards for you. And Death Battle is no exception.
Death Battle Junko would be insane. Because in Death Battle, Junko having an excavator pound repeatedly on her neck several times and withstanding being hit by a thousand baseballs and shit in the Ultimate Punishment counts as durability feats.
And in Death Battle specifically, their rules require characters to have access to whatever they need to use their powers to the fullest. Sonic, for example, always gets to have the Chaos Emeralds on-hand because Super Sonic is his strongest form.
So in addition to Junko being the Shonen Battle Anime version of whatever feats you can wring out of her and having an inexhaustible supply of Monokumas, AI Junko and Monokuma's abilities from the Neo World Program are also on the table.
It's difficult to imagine how this interpretation of Junko could possibly lose to an angry ghost piloting a pizzeria animatronic.
Then again, Death Battle's made some pretty ridiculous leaps of logic in the past, even setting aside the hyperbolic way they interpret characters. So I suppose anything's on the table.
