thank you @heybuddy-drabbles for tagging me relentlessly in these even when I don't participate - pls never stop because sometimes I have the time and sometimes I don't but I love writing things i'm just a phd student who sometimes doesn't have the spare time to breathe ANYWAY

here's a lil snippet of this coffeeshop AU I've been working on feat. alex being dumb and bisexual

“Iced tea or hot?” Thankfully, his brain can function on autopilot when it comes to his actual job, and it lets Alex try to figure out why the fuck he feels all warm and a little nauseous all of a sudden. “Oh, God, hot, please. Iced tea is a disgrace to tea everywhere.” “Okay, Mary Poppins.” Alex says before he can think better of himself. “Just because you can’t appreciate God’s sweet elixir doesn’t mean you’re allowed to shit on it like that.” The man tilts his head. “Oh? And you are the authority on this?” “I’m from Texas and I’ve worked here for two years. I think I am, actually.” The man’s lips twitch like he’s fighting back a smile, and Alex is struck by how attractive the expression is. He has the offhanded thought that this guy probably doesn’t have any issues getting dates with any woman that he wants. Objectively, he’s hot.  Alex has always said if he was ever into men, he’d have a type, and this guy fits it. Sure, he’s had vague acknowledgments of men being attractive before, like making jokes that when he gets married his wife will have to accept having Pedro Pascal as one of the five people on his list of celebrities that he can sleep with if given the opportunity. But it’s a joke. Mostly. This feels strangely different, like something sharp pressing against the inside of his ribcage. And the dude is just staring. Not that Alex isn’t, but this guy is looking at him like he has three heads.
