#i'm gonna be real with y'all: i cannot muster the energy to get upset for greta gerwig's directing snub#my mood can be best described as 'that's what the money is for'#like in general the academy does not reward summer blockbusters because well that's what the money is for#and--i want to be clear i am treading on dangerous ground--but it's not sexism. there's a precedent for this#like look back at steven spielberg and jaws. there's a great video of joe spinelli at the time of the noms#he's got an all time one liner of 'who directed the picture? THE SHARK?'#and as someone else said on twitter: greta gerwig has taken chris nolan's 'everyone loved that movie why wasn't it nominated' torch. relax
