i think i've read that Ben outsold Got To Be There and that's so weird to me. the fact that GtBT is just a better album aside, i would've thought that the hype of the J5 being new would make Little Michael's debut a HUGE deal. which i think it DID do very well, but like.... the rat song?

#going 2 keep it real rn i'm a little bitter that Ben is/was the signature song of his childhood solo career #i only became aware of MJ after he died so my pov is kinda confused i guess. to ME as a 10yo Got To Be There was thee solo kid mj song #in fact i think i somehow knew that and Rockin Robin better than anything from the J5 #i vaguely knew I Want You Back and ABC and I'll Be There. didn't know about The Love You Save til this year #well anyways #Got to Be There is such a good show piece for him. the range on that song #i Will say. i love the studio version but i think the double tracking could've been better #idk in what way as i am not knowledgeable about that kind of thing. but it sounds almost warbly with that heavy double tracking #i'm fond of that warbliness. but yknow. could be nice to hear a single track version or something #Ben is a beautiful song. i don't understand why it went so crazy in the way that it did #and i'll say it again #WITH A CHILD'S HEART SHOULD BE THEEEEEEE SIGNATURE SONG OF HIS CHILDHOOD.
