Muse Bio: Roz
Rozzum Unit 7134
A canon character from The Wild Robot
Age: N/A Species: Universal Dynamics Helper Robot Height: 6'11" Weight: N/A Birthday: N/A
The sole "survivor" of a container ship run aground during a typhoon, Unit 7134 wakes on an island beach with not a human in sight. As for the many animals of the island, they neither know nor care about this strange creature's integrated multiphase task-helping programming - in fact, they're all afraid of and aggressive towards her. After a series of unfortunate events, the newly-named "Roz" finds herself damaged, unable to activate her homing signal, and caring for a lone goose egg.
The gosling hatches and imprints on Roz, leaving her faced with a task she has never been equipped to handle. Yet with the help of a crafty fox named Fink and an opossum mother named Pinktail, she builds a shelter and learns that her new scrawny gosling - Brightbill - will have to be prepared to fend for himself and fly south come winter.
Roz may not know this world, but she is dedicated and quick to adapt. The animals still fear her, but no matter. Protecting and raising Brightbill is causing her to have to reach beyond her programming to do what she needs to do - what her gosling needs her to do. She finds her judgment coming less from her processor and more from...somewhere deeper. And when this task is done, what then? She doesn't know who and what awaits her when she activates her homing signal. Perhaps she is in the wrong place. Perhaps she has become the wrong thing.
Or has she?

Another drabble inspired by The Wild Robot, which I'm still so enamored with. Here’s a small story about Fink and Roz.
As always, prompts are here if you want to have a look. And the ao3 collections is located there.
************
It was the first Winter since Roz had returned. It wasn’t even that cold of a Winter, but many animals had decided to spend it in the robot’s company, rather than rely on their own shelters. Even if it meant missing out on some hibernation time. She still had a lot of stories to tell, and everyone wanted to catch up.
The islanders had given her some space at first, so that she could spend precious time with her immediate family, but the migrating birds had now departed, including Brightbill and his flock. This meant there was no reason to hold back anymore, Fink realized: everybody was allowed to crowd her and pester her and being an all-around nuisance.
The fox tried – and failed – not to show his irritation. He was immediate family, Roz was his best friend, he should be given priority. He’d barely had time to ask her how she’d managed to make her way home and describe all the things she had seen and discovered and THEN tell her about all the things he had seen and discovered on the island while she wasn’t there.
This situation was utterly unfair.
Sure, he didn’t mind sharing his home during the Winter months, and even enjoyed some of the time spent with the animals who had become his friends – the kids especially. But Roz had returned, now. And she was his best friend. Back in the day, it used to be just him and Roz and Brightbill. And now Fink was supposed to share her too?
Absolute male bovine excrement, as Paddler would say.
And speaking of the beaver, surely Roz had seen his art collection by now – he’d showed it to her quite extensively already, thank you.
“The details are really spot on,” the robot repeated. “Although the scale is inaccurate.”
“That’s just artistic –”
“ – artistic license, yes, we know!” grumbled Fink.
No one seemed to be paying any attention to him and he rolled his eyes dramatically as more and more islanders hounded the robot. It was getting late! Couldn’t they go to sleep already? The fire was warm and his belly was full and he just wanted to curl up next to Roz until morning. Surely they should be able to understand that without him having to spell it out. Not that it would make much of a difference anyway since they barely seemed to notice he was there.
“I need to switch off for the night now,” Roz announced an eternity later, and Fink immediately perked up. Not because it meant he’d finally get his wish – no, it was because Roz was LYING! And quite beautifully, she’d made tremendous progress. The fox knew for a fact that her power core had been completely fixed. She didn’t have to rely solely on her solar panels anymore. And thus didn’t need to switch off.
The animals complained at first, but soon everyone had found their regular spot for the night.
“That was clever of you,” Fink praised from his own premium spot against the robot’s leg – he didn’t mind the coldness of the metal, he was used to it.
“I saw you were getting tired,” she replied.
He almost complained, but she wasn’t entirely wrong. Truth be told, he hadn’t been sleeping so well. He wasn’t exactly sure why – surely he should feel safe and content now that his best friend was back. And yet there was still a worry – a big one. What if she left again? Fink didn’t think he could handle it a second time. It was hard enough to have to say goodbye to Brightbill once a year already.
“Today is the day some humans call Christmas,” Roz interrupted his thoughts. Humans were the beings who had built Roz. The ones who had wanted to keep her until she’d managed to escape. Fink didn’t really like humans, but he was curious by nature, and wanted to learn more about them.
“What is Christmas?” he asked, settling more snuggly against his friend as the other animals around them slowly succumbed to sleep.
“It is a day of celebration, although I’m not sure what it is that the humans are celebrating. I think it has something to do with food – they eat a lot of it during that time.”
“Sounds like my kind of celebration,” Fink hummed.
“And also music. They have special songs for Christmas. Some of them are very pleasant, I think. They’ve added them to my memory bank.”
He liked this new and improved Roz. She had opinions. And tastes. But they still agreed on most things.
“Do you want me to play a few of them until you fall asleep?”
“Yes,” nodded Fink, closing his eyes.

Mateo Jang Canales
Billie and Sam brought home their son in great secrecy. Billie was still very protective of what information about Mateo was going to be released. She'd leaked to the press the wrong hospital so the truly carnivorous of them that wanted to wait in the bushes wouldn't be able to track her down.
Baby Mateo was home by the time the press had gotten wind of the birth. They clamored for pictures. Billie released a simple statement on social media addressing her fans and paparazzi:
Thank you for the love and support. As previously stated, information about my son will be extremely limited. I know you are all excited to see his sweet face; Please respect our privacy in the mean time. I promise to release a single photo. Jang in there, gang.
"We need to decide where we're living, Billie," Sam said after putting Mateo down for a nap. "I can move out here, but I don't think this house is really built for a family."
Billie sighed. "It's not. I didn't plan on a baby when I bought Penny's house, and I'm only willing to remodel it so much out of respect for Roz."
"So?"
"So I'm moving in with you, I already hired the moving company."

In The Shadows Of Small Heath — Arthur Shelby x OC
Summary: Rosalind finds Arthur all beat up in an alley, and she takes it upon herself to care for him until his brothers arrive.
Word Count: 618
Warnings: Mention of blood and injury
Rosalind Alcott strode through the dimly lit streets of Small Heath, her eyes scanning every shadow and alleyway as she went. She'd been meant to meet Arthur Shelby hours ago, and she had a gnawing feeling that something had gone terribly wrong, resulting in his being late. Now with a surge of fear running through her, she quickened her pace, her heels clicking against the cobblestones, the chill of the night air biting at her skin.
Finally, she spotted him in a narrow alley, hunched over and hacking violently. She rushed to his side, her breath catching as she took in his battered appearance. His face was bruised and swollen, blood was trickling from a cut above his eyebrow, and his clothes were torn and stained.
"Arthur," she exhaled softly, kneeling beside him. He looked up, his eyes glassy with pain, and attempted a weak smile.
"Roz, I'm fine," he rasped, trying to wave her off. "Just a little scrap, nothing I can't handle."
"First off, you were late. And you’re not fine," she countered. "You're coughing up a lung."
He tried to stand, but his legs buckled beneath him. Rosalind caught him, supporting his weight as best she could. "Come on, let's get you somewhere safe," she urged, guiding him towards the street.
With Arthur giving her instructions to navigate this part of the city, they made their way to a small, rundown safe house a couple blocks away, a place the Shelbys had often used for situations just like this. Though by the state of it, not lately. Rosalind helped Arthur inside and eased him onto a worn out sofa. She rustled around and grabbed a cloth from the cupboard, and filled a bowl with water. She began gently cleaning his wounds. He winced but didn't protest, his eyes locked on her face as she worked.
"Why do you keep doing this, Arthur?" she asked, her fingers brushing lightly against his bruised skin. "Putting yourself in harm's way?"
"It's what I do, Roz," he replied, his voice rough but sincere. "It's who I am."
She shook her head, tears welling in her eyes. "It doesn't have to be."
Arthur reached up, his hand trembling, and cupped her cheek. "You're too good for this place, you know. Too good for the likes of me."
She leaned into his touch, her heart aching. If he wasn’t already so beat up, she might lash out and strike some sense into him herself. Instead she merely huffed. "Maybe I am. But that doesn't mean I don't care about you."
It was at this admission that Arthur finally looked away from her. A knock on the door broke the tension, and Rosalind quickly straightened, moving away from Arthur's touch and going to the door, opening it to reveal Tommy and John Shelby. Confusion at Rosalind's presence turned to relief at seeing Arthur, then stoic concern took hold as they took in Arthur's condition.
"He'll be alright," Rosalind assured them, mostly on Arthur's behalf. "Just needs some rest, and a proper doctor wouldn’t hurt either," she advised, knowing such a thing was unlikely with these boys. At least the worst of his coughing had subsided.
Tommy nodded. "Thank you, Miss Alcott. We'll take it from here."
She stepped aside, letting the brothers inside to take Arthur home. Arthur gave her a pained, but grateful smile as they helped him up.
When the door closed behind the three of them, Rosalind stood alone in the small room, the weight of the night pressing down on her. She knew she couldn't stay away, couldn't stop caring for Arthur Shelby. And maybe, just maybe, under that gruff exterior of his, he felt the same way.

10 Characters, 10 Fandoms
RULES: List your ten favourite characters from ten separate fandoms then tag ten people!
Tagged by @boatswainscall
Thanks, I love being a part of these! Also, I'm not nessicarily involved in these fandoms, but I'm in a character appreciating mood, so...
Roz the Robot (The Wild Robot) (I am not going to shut up about it once this movie comes out, I swear on my library) She's friend shaped. She works to make her home. I can't stop trying to draw her and realizing how much more practice I should have with drawing circles before I try.
2. Brea (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) choosing one from this show is hard! But she's the one who gets put in the most mental animatics, so she's here.
3. Yfling (A Choir of Lies) (No last name given) (I probably shouldn't have even stated his first name, but he uses it.) Sad wet cat of a man. The most white man to ever realize how badly he broke a failing system in the wrong direction. He's the narrator. He's unreliable. He still works as a storyteller while writing, a cultural taboo. The book is certainly worthy of praise and criticism. This guy also needs a hug. Badly. That doesn't make any part of his actions OK.
4. Alinua (Aurora) One of my favorite uses of "Life Magic" as a character element without it being her entire character. Also, hair floofy. (all of the aurora characters with hair have floofy hair. Go read Aurora the webcomic, if you so choose. It's fun)
5. Mrs. Frisby (Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM) Only ever read the first book, but I've read it at least 8 times. One of my favorite examples of an almost flat character arc in a protagonist. Different in the film. Still good, but a different that I've learned to live with.
6. Martin Blackwood (The Magnus Archives) the themeeeees.
7. Amelia (Infinity Train) Hooooooo boy. Talk about backstory not justifying current actions but. She's trying. She's working towards a different ending to the self destruction she promised herself. She accidentally adopted someone who's technically her daughter. She needs to work on her personal issues SO much more than she already has. It was between her and The Cat, for I T, by the way.
8. Sophie Hatter (Howl's Moving Castle) Yes, you are in a story ma'am, but I am so glad by book 2 you've also learned that there are Consequences to your Actions and that causes you to change absolutely none of them. Yeah they got you turned into an old lady, but only the once!
9. The Pooka (Hilda) "I would like to borrow an egg cup" has become a familial in-joke. Shape changer that can only look like himself?
10. Jack Frost (RotG) This man took up Residence in my brain in 2012 and Has Not Left Since, and I have given up on trying to make him, and that whole world in general, for that matter, go away! Fanfiction of my own it is! (of the "Put this man in more situations" variety. I want to see how I think fantasy rules for TMA and ROTG interact. Also, separately, Danny Phantom)
I'm sorry, I don't know 10 people to tag, but I do have 5.
@kiwipigment , @hardcore-solangelo-19, @smolbonbon, @geektrashfan , @i-want-cheese , Care to take a swing at it?

A game...
Question: What do you do?
Response: Join in.
Check notes for previous instalment
'I'm in, if you're sure that it won't bother anyone.'
'I'll tell them to not bring up the punch,' Hakim says brightly.
You grimace. 'I'm gonna drop my things off first.'
Deema's asleep, as you expected, so you leave the case of bottles on a table for her. After a moment's thought you scrawl out a quick note as well. You should be back in time to not need it, but just in case, you tell yourself.
--
Back at The Crow's Nest four of the apprentices from Hakim's crew are gathered around a table. The younger ones are playing against each other and the other two, Zulfiya and someone you don't recognise are sitting behind them and supplying directions. Zulfiya perks up as if she heard something she wasn't expecting, sees you, rolls her eyes, and returns to the game.
Hakim leans back in his chair with his hands folded behind his head. You pull up a chair next to him and watch the game. You don't recognise it.
'What are they playing?'
'Some game from the middle called 'argue about the rules a lot' is my guess. Zulfiya and Hettie know - well, know is subjective, apparently - the rules and they're trying to teach Roz and Tarvo.' You vaguely recognise the name of the road witch apprentice.
The raised voices and exaggerated hand gestures almost make it feel like home.
Hakim's eyes flit between you and Zulfiya, who's alternating between throwing glares in your direction and directing Roz. Her wrist's still bandaged
'Zulf?' he asks. She looks up. He points at you. 'Can you two sort whatever it is between you out?'
She plucks a card out of Roz's hand, throws it on the stack in the middle of the table to a mix of hooting and booing, then stands up and digs her nails into your shoulder.
Ouch. You bat her hand away.
'Make sure Roz doesn't do anything stupid and lose the game while I'm gone.'
'Zulfiya, that's not polite,' Hakim murmurs, but he moves to take her place.
You follow her to a wall.
'You still have that bird.'
'Made him a jacket and everything. He's doing great, thanks for asking.'
'Want to tell me why Hakim knows we know each other?' she asks coldly.
You bite back the fact that she wasn't subtle about her glaring and say, 'He said I could talk to you about Reginald and I told him we already discussed it. He thinks we don't want anyone to know that we met.'
'Sounds about right to me.'
You think of Hakim trying to keep the peace and take a slow breath. 'I'm very sorry about your wrist.' Being the bigger person isn't all it's cracked up to be.
'You didn't give a light to the person walking around a place full of holes,' she points out.
'I was checking in on Lex. You freaked them out and you know it.'
'I was a little distracted by a few thousand voices, so sorry for not paying more attention to one of them.'
Lex didn't make a sound around her. You realise it must have been loud for her to not realise, so you try again.
'Yeah, that's true. You said it was the biggest job you did.'
Zulfiya crosses her arms expectantly.
#a couple years back my dad was like so if you dont have uno cards but do have a regular deck you can still play uno#so they are playing fantasy uno#polls#cyoa

Thinking about izzy again and how he thought he'd come home and be met with minor, yet warm acknowledgements but no greetings and then he'd sit down and join the conversation and they'd all feel glad deep down inside that he's here because they don't hate him as it turns out and they'd laugh and joke.
But then he stumbles I'm after being missing for almost 4 days and instead of being met with a warm smile, Hedry is already complaining as she's walking towards him. "Oh my fucking god, Izzy, are you drunk again? You know what, Roz and I talked about this actually. You disappear for days and then show up black out drunk and then crash." And when Izzy replies with a delirious "Hi Heddy..." Hedry immediately recognises the signs of being- "High. Oh my god, you're high. Izzy, this is a new low-" but she's cut off by Izzy's legs finally giving out under him and he says "Missed you," with a sincere smile. Hedry's heart sinks, because something is Wrong and Izzy came to her and he's sincerely happy to see her. And Hedry essentially called him an idiot when he walked in. Of course she'll call for Roz to help carry him to the couch, but she won't stay with him throughout the night and she won't be there when he wakes up. She won't be too gentle when she changes his bandages and instead of compassion there's pity illuminating her eyes.
Izzy got straight up tortured and thought he had people to fall back on, but the only real reason why they caught him when he fell was barebones human duty to feel compassion.

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to Throwback Thursday!
Many thanks to everyone that contributed to WEDNESDAY WORDS yesterday. Every week, it just gets better! An amazing selection of lyrics, poems, words of wisdom, great lines from films and old folks’ sayings. And well done to clever Roz Pedersen, who photographed one of those ‘Poems On The Underground’ and posted that! I’ve always applauded TFL for bringing some art to London’s underground trains.
On this page, ‘Throwback Thursday’ is about memories. So, what do you remember? If I was to say the word IN-LAW, what immediately comes to mind?
Old school comedians used to run jokes about their mother-in-law. Not anymore. Happy wife = happy life, and your wife will always be happy if you get on with her parents.
I guess I was lucky? My in-laws are amazing! The Trouble’s mum has passed now but her dad is still hanging in and up for a drink and a game of dominoes!
By the time I came on to the scene, The Trouble’s sister already had her boyfriend living in her bedroom! So, when The Trouble asked if I could move in to the family home, her parents were not surprised.
That’s right: Mr. and Mrs. Patterson had twin girls and their boyfriends both lived in the family home. Madness, right? Well, Mr. Patterson didn’t think so. He would rather he knew exactly where his daughters were and who they were with! So, my in-laws were incredibly kind, patient and tolerant, and Mrs. Patterson made me cornmeal porridge (with sliced white bread and butter) and, when I was sick, boiled down some cerasee and forced it down my throat!
So, on this Throwback Thursday, what kind of memories does the word IN-LAW conjure up for you?
While looking for material for Wednesday Words, I thought I’d include the first few lines from J. D. Salinger’s brilliant ‘The Catcher In The Rye’. I looked it up on Google and underneath it were some reviews. The first one I saw had awarded this core-curriculum book just one star! The first two words of the review read, “Bro awful.” No comma between ‘bro’ and ‘awful’. It told me all I needed to know about the reviewer. He continues, “I promise I'm usually a nice guy, but this just got on my nerves lol.” Lol? What adult includes ‘lol’ in a book review? It reminded me that there’s no accounting for taste. Even the classics get bad reviews! I’ve only had one one-star review for ‘Whatever Makes Them Dance’. The reviewer said, “Like reading a schoolboy diary.” She’s absolutely right. That’s how I write. That is my writing style. No denying it. Thankfully, most people like the story and my characters. That’s always my focus: story and characters. But, seriously, one star for ‘The Catcher In The Rye’? Science fiction writer Gregory Benford once said, “Maybe education is wasted on the young?”
In amongst all the prepping, teaching, marking and moderating, in coming weeks, we’ve got lots to look forward to. We have a yummy BBQ on Saturday, another groovy garden party on July 8th, then I’ll be doing Mi-Soul’s ‘Concert At The Castle’ event in Windsor on July 9th. I’m covering ‘Mi-Drive’ on July 20th and July 27th. It’s the Margate Soul Festival on the weekend of August 4th, we’re going to see Dolly on August 12th, then I’m looking forward to going back to Stevenage on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 27th for ‘Let The Music Play’. And, of course, we’ll be back and forth to Hove regularly to see Lady Wesker
Have a throbbing and thrusting Thursday (with hopefully a few thrills through your thoroughfare?) I love you all.

'Are you happy, Menodora?'
Why ... Does that matter? She takes a sip, thinking it over. It's good that she does, because Oswald elaborates. She feels that the question is much less existential now.
Is she happy that she came to Swynlake? Yes. Immensely... She doesn't know if she can answer the same to his first question.
Was she happy?
She feels warmer. She's downed two glasses and she needs to stop. Menodora takes a moment to set her empty glass down before going back to look at Oswald. She feels bad, he must have been having a good night before she arrived. His dark hair is falling in his eyes a little bit. It looks soft.
'Do you ever feel lonely,' he follows up with. And Menodora doesn't know how to answer that either. He elaborates further, but the thought already has her reeling slightly.
After tonight, she had felt more alone than she had in a long time. She had yet to text River about her falling out with Stella. And she could reach out to a friend but she's already talked poor Roz's ear off and now she was trying not to do the same to Oswald. Only she had, and was trying to recover from that.
"I think," Moon starts, after a moment, "that our situations are different. I feel lonely sometimes, but others, I know I've got wonderful friends. It's--... I've always been a lonely person, which sounds sad but it's not. And I know I'm not staying forever. This is more of an escape than anything."
The truth of it hurts. Maybe in a year, maybe in two, she and Cass wouldn't be a short walk from each other... she wouldn't have Elinor or Roz. She would even be leaving Tófi...
She fends off the urge to straighten her posture and speak in a more affected tone.
"I think you're friendly and kind and can make yourself quite at home here, Ozzy. I think it gets better. But I don't know for sure. I hope it does. It would be nice.

So who in totals travelled with the doctor? I know we saw donna, but what other companions are there?
This is gonna be a big one, so *Takes a deep breath* In his first incarnation, the First Doctor started his travels with his granddaughter Susan, accidentally taking her school teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright. Along his travels, people would come and go, including Vicki Pallister, Steven Taylor, Katarina, Sara Kingdom, Oliver Harper, Dodo Chaplet, Ben Jackson and Polly Wright.
In his second incarnation, the Second Doctor would continue his travels with Ben and Polly, taking on Jamie McCrimmon, who would stick with him through his life. Along the way, The Doctor would also travel with Victoria Waterfield and Zoe Heriot. It was during this time that The Doctor would also meet Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, who would become an important figure during his most of his lives.
In exile is his third incarnation, the Third Doctor was forced to work with the Brigadier as UNIT's scientific advisor. Working initially with Liz Shaw, Mike Yates and John Benton, he would finally be able to travel again, first with Jo Grant, and later Sarah-Jane Smith.
In his fourth incarnation, continuing to travel with Sarah-Jane Smith and joined by Harry Sullivan, the Fourth Doctor would go on to travel with Naomi Cross, Leela of the Sevateem, Margaret Hopwood, two models of the robot dog K9, "Anne Kelso", Romana in two of her incarnations and Adric.
In his fifth incarnation, The Doctor continued travelling with Adric and took on Nyssa of Trakken and Tegan Jovanka, who he had met towards the end of his previous incarnation. Along the way, he would also travel with Marc, Thomas Brewster, Hannah Bartholomew, Vislor Turlough, Peri Brown and Erimem.
Still travelling with Peri in his sixth incarnation, The Doctor would travel with others including Frobisher, Evelyn Smythe, Charlotte Pollard (retroactively under the guise of Mila due to already travelling with his Eighth Incarnation), Flip Jackson, Constance Clarke, Melanie Bush and Hebe Harrison.
Continuing to travel with Mel in his seventh Incarnation, the Doctor would go on to be joined by Ace McShane, Bernice Summerfield, Hex Schofield, Sally Morgan, Lysandra Aristedes, Mags, Raine Creevy, Elizabeth Klein, Will Arrowsmith, Chris Cwej and Roz Forrester, though ultimately ended up travelling on his home.
The Eighth Doctor would find himself starting afresh, briefly meeting Grace Holloway and Chang Lee, before going on to travel with Izzy Sinclair, Fitz Kreiner, Charlotte Pollard, C'rizz, Mary Shelley, Lucie Miller, Tamsin Drew, Molly O'Sullivan, Liv Chenka, Helen Sinclair, Tania Bell, Andy Davidson and Bliss.
The War Doctor would go on to make a point of travelling alone, never taking on a travelling companion during his life.
Though he would continue travelling alone for much of his life, the Ninth Doctor would finally yield and take on Rose Tyler as a companion, and later Adam Mitchell, Captain Jack Harkness and Tara Mishra
In his tenth incarnation, The Doctor would continue travelling with Rose, though would later go on to travel with Mickey Smith, Martha Jones, a returning Captain Jack, Donna Noble, Gabby Gonzalez, Cindy Wu, Anya Kingdom and Mark Seven.
The Eleventh Doctor would start his travels with Amy Pond, going on to take on Rory Williams, Alice Obiefune, John Jones, ARC, The Squire, Abslom Daak, The Sapling, Valerie Lockwood and Clara Oswald.
Clara Oswald would continue to travel with the Twelfth Doctor, who would go on to travel with Hattie Munroe, Nardole and Bill Potts.
In her Thirteenth Incarnation, the Doctor would spend her entire incarnation travelling Yasmin Khan, being joined by Ryan Sinclair, Graham O'Brien and Dan Lewis.
Throughout many of their lives, The Doctor would constantly meet River Song, though on many occasions would be forced to forget their encounters to preserve the web of time.
And with that, I'm taking a nap - Dev~

What the Fork? Ch 1
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0f0b78c95dbd2c65c441dbd24783c277/5ab4257af296659a-0c/s540x810/c8f6bbf6dbdb9285d3267b4d38d7d65752b736e8.jpg)
Story Summary:
Eva Rozlyn "Roz" Roberts accidentally time travels when she fiddles with her time turner while watching The Dirt. She ends up in 1981 in the Mötley apartment. How will the Crüe react? Will she ever be able to get back to 2020? Will Roz be able to handle their way of life? Will she ever be able to control the time travel?
A/N:
I decided to start putting my story ‘What the Fork’ on Tumblr in addition to AO3 and WattPad (11 chapters). I wanted to organize my writing some more. Since I plan on this being a very long book and I want to make it a series, I want to take notes on my chapters so that I avoid continuity errors. Also, if I find any grammatical errors that I missed I will fix those. With the notes and everything, I thought that I would start putting this up here as well. As time goes on, I may do alternate takes on chapters and stuff like that.
Oh, and the title is a bit of a funny story. When I first was trying to come up with a title, I asked for my boyfriend’s help. I told him the premise of the story and a summary of the first chapter. The first words out of his name were, “What the fuck???” And I was like, “Ok, there we go.” Of course, I wasn’t gonna swear in the title even though I do in the story. So, I decided to make a reference to the tv show ‘The Good Place’.

Chapter One
Eva Rozlyn Roberts, aka Roz, was sick of waiting for her friend to pick her up. She was supposed to be going to her first ever convention. She was dressed as a Gryffindor witch. She started to fiddle with parts of her costume. First, she was twirling her Newt Scamander replica wand for a while. *Why on Earth am I still waiting for her?* Roz wondered. Roz put her wand up her sleeve, and she tried calling her friend Katy for what felt like the 100th time that day.
After the voicemail picked up again, Roz decided to start watching The Dirt again. She had lost track of how many times she had watched the movie and listened to the songs since the movie came out. As she watched the movie, she took out a time turner necklace and started twirling it in all of the different directions. *I wish I had never agreed to go with Katy. She always forgets about me or bails.* She dropped the necklace and started to braid her hair.
About an hour into the movie, Roz had already braided her hair so that it hung over her left shoulder. Her hair was black and it had deep red highlights all throughout. When she started twirling her time turner necklace again, a faint blue tendril of light started twisting around her fingers and slowly working its way up her arms. Before she even noticed it, the light was covering the entirety of her forearms. She immediately stopped playing with the time turner and started to panic. *Time turners are NOT even real! I cannot deal with this. I just turned 19 and I have to move soon. Fuck! What’s gonna happen to Hope?* The blue light had engulfed her and no matter how hard she tried; she couldn't get the time turner out of her hands. The last thought she had before she blacked out was *I hope she’s safe and that I’m at least gonna go somewhere fun.....*
*******************
The guys had just finished agreeing on a name. Mötley Crüe was finally a reality. They kept drinking together and didn't pay any attention to the strange blue light emanating from under the table. After a few hours, Tommy exclaimed, "Dudes, the only thing that could make this better would be for a chick to be here!"
After a pull from his beer Vince laughed and asked, "Where exactly do you expect a chick to come from?"
Mick growled sarcastically, "In a ball of light ya dumbass."
Tommy's eyes lit up with teenage enthusiasm. "Ya really think so Mick?"
Nikki just laughed and said, "He was joking dork."
By then the light had waned and then, all of a sudden, it flashed back out from under the table. It engulfed the Crüe and Vince screamed. Once the light was gone Mick was shocked. "Seriously, I was joking about the light. What the fuck's going on under the table?"
Tommy ducked his head under the table and immediately popped his head back up. "Dudes, I can't believe it. I think I drank too much! There's a fuckin chick under the table!"
Nikki cackled "T-bone quit fuckin around! Is there even anything other than trash under there?"
Tommy glared and pouted "I'm not joking. Just look for yourself dude!"
Mick grunted in pain as he got down on the floor and saw the strangest thing. There was girl who was maybe in her older teens. Her sudden appearance wasn't the only strange thing. She had unnatural black and red hair that was braided. She was also in what looked to be a school uniform. She had a red and black plaid skirt, knee high socks, odd combat like boots, a black blouse, a dark grey cardigan with a lion crest on it, and oddest of all a cloak. Mick decided that they needed to at least get her out from under the table. Maybe wake her if possible. "Nikki stop your cackling and help me move her to the couch."
"Fine, fine" Nikki said as he rolled his eyes.
Tommy and Vince moved the table and Mick carefully lifted her head and shoulders with a grimace while Nikki got her legs. Once they got her on the couch, Vince decided to bail to his girlfriend’s place, "Sorry, but I'm not sober enough for this shit. I'll be back later."
Tommy leaned over the girl and asked, "Where do you guys think she came from?"
Nikki shrugged, "Fuck if I know. Wake her up and see."
Tommy started to poke her in the cheek. She mumbled "...5 mur min mum..." Tommy giggled and then decided to poke her sharply in the side. The girl's emerald eyes flew open as she shot into a sitting position.
She screamed and flailed her arms which resulted in smacking Tommy in the face. "What the fork? Son of a bitch! What kind of asshole jabs someone they don't know in the side? Seriously, what the fuck?!"
The guys looked at her with wide eyes and then at each other. "Well Mick you're the one who said a chick would come from a ball of light. What do you think we should do with her?" Nikki asked.
Mick chuckled "Your apartment, you guys figure it out. I'm gonna just drink more."
Sitting up fully and looking around the room, the girl was disoriented. "She's right here and she even has a name! She also wants to know who you guys are and where she is," she snapped at them.
Tommy sat next to her on the couch and responded, "Well I'm Tommy, that's Nikki and that's Mick. You are in our apartment."
"Well theirs" Mick said pointing between Tommy and Nikki with his bottle of Jack.
"Now your turn" Nikki said pointedly to her.
Roz nervously tucked her legs under herself and hugged her knees. Looking down at the floor Roz said, "I'm Roz, that's all you're going to get from me right now. I want to know what city I'm in and what year it is. I've learned from books, TV, and movies that fresh out of a ball of light you figure out where and when you are."
Tommy's brow knitted and he said, "Um its 1981 and you're in Los Angeles. Uh I guess that means I should ask you; where and when are you from Roz?"
She looked with wide eyes between Mick and Nikki before settling back on Tommy. "Please don't freak out," she said quietly. As she looked down at her boots, she mumbled, "I'm from Madison, WI, and I was in the year 2020. I was born July 1, 2001 so I turned 19 a week ago in my time.”
Nikki snorted, and Tommy elbowed him before he interrupted, “Seriously dude?? You’re from the future AND from Wisconsin?? How the fuck did you get here? Also, why under the table?”
“I have no clue Tommy, I was just messing around with my necklace and then POOF………” Roz trailed off and then stared wide-eyed at Mick, Tommy, and then fixed her eyes on Nikki. She had finally realized who she was with. “Holy fucking shit balls!!!!!! M-Mick Mars? T-Tommy Lee? …. A-a-an-and N-ni-Nikki S-ss-Sixx?” She continued stare at Nikki who, after a bit, narrowed his eyes at her before turning to Mick and Tommy.
“How the hell does she know who we are?” Nikki wondered.
Mick shrugged and Tommy laughed and said, “Wait dude, she’s from the future, right? We’re probably famous. Hey Roz is that how you know us?”
“Shit, I shouldn’t have let that bit slip. This better not fuck up the space time continuum. I refuse to tell you guys about your futures.” She said wildly staring at Tommy.
“Ok… ok… What should we do with her until we figure out if she can even go home?” Tommy asked turning to Nikki.
“Well we can claim she is related to one of us,” suggested Nikki. “Hey Mick want a sister or a cousin?”
Mick shook his head and chuckled slightly. “If she’s gonna be my cousin I wanna know her whole name. So, lady teen, what’s your name?”
“Seriously Mick? Lady teen? Ugh fine, my name is Eva Rozlyn Roberts. I prefer Roz though.” She looked between the guys and then around the disgusting living room. “So… um…. Where am I going to live? If I recall this place only has the 2 rooms and Vince and Tommy already share one of them.” She thought for a moment, *Honestly, I hope they say I have to share with Vince and Tommy. Sharing with Nikki would be nerve wracking.*
“Seriously dude, it’s creepy how much you know about us. You can share the room with me and Vince. I know Nikki ain’t gonna wanna share.” Tommy said looking like a hopeful puppy.
“I guess that works. I’m gonna need something other than my costume to wear guys. I can’t always walk around LA dressed as a character from Harry Potter.” Roz said.
“Wait who’s this Harry guy?” Nikki asked frowning.
Roz giggled, “He’s the main character from a series of books that started in the late 90’s. He is a wizard and goes to a magical boarding school. It’s my favorite series of books ever. Right now, I’m wearing the Gryffindor version of the Hogwarts uniform. I also have a time turner necklace and a replica of Newt Scamander’s wand.”
Mick rolled his eyes, “ So let me get this straight. You just decided to dress like a wizarding school girl and then play with magical objects?”
Roz’s face clouded over, “Well I was supposed to be going to a convention with my friend Katy. Bitch never actually picked me up. I was fiddling around with the time turner necklace while watching a movie. Then I was in a blue light and passed out. Seriously, magic isn’t real. At least it wasn’t until the time turner decided to spaz out and actually work.”
Nikki smirked and asked, “Are you sure you’re not a witch? You’re already a time traveler. Why not be a witch too?”
“Bro do you really think she’s a witch? That would be so cool!!!” Tommy turned to Roz and asked, “Do you think that your wand will work too?”
Roz giggled, “That would be amazing, although I doubt it does. But damn is it getting late or what? Any chance we can go back over this after some sleep?”
“Well Tommy show her to Vince’s bed. I think it would be hilarious if Vin came back while she was sleeping in his bed.” Nikki says lighting up a cigarette.
Tommy turned to Roz, “I should have some sweatpants and a shirt for you to wear.”
“Tommy I hope you’ve got some workout shorts because your legs are way to long,” Roz said as she followed Tommy. Tommy handed her some shorts and a t-shirt and pointed out Vince’s bed. “Thanks Tommy.”
After Tommy left the room Roz shut the door and changed. She folded her clothes and stuffed them in the pillowcase, and she still wore the time turner and kept the wand in its sheath on her forearm. She laid down and her last thought before sleep claimed her was of how strange this all is.

Meetings in Chernobyl, part II
It seems to me that I’m back to Chernobyl fandom. Thanks to wonderful @johnlockismyreligion and “Take me home”, that I have already read two times (I only don’t understand why I decided to read it when fic was finished... I’m soooo slow) Sooooo, I promised to all of you, and especially @elenatria and @litttlesilkworm post about Alla Pugacheva concert in Chernobyl. Hope you really enjoy it, maybe someone even wants to write a songfic!
In the middle of summer, 1986 to Chernobyl Nikolai Ryzhkov (Chairman of the Council of Ministers) and Victor Chebrikov (yeah, it's our Charkov) arrived for inspection in Chernobyl. They asked liquidators, if they need something, like products or any other requests. Many people wanted to "oranges, alcohol and Alla Pugacheva". Chebrikov promised to organize the concert.
Pugacheva remembers when she got a call from KGB she was a little scared, though could find a witty answer to an invitation to Chernobyl:
"Didn't you find another option to destroy me?"
Of course, she agreed to go, but didn't make someone from her team to go with her, it was absolutely on free will. Many of her close friends and colleagues refused to go, they were really afraid of radiation. Still, her then-boyfriend (and also novice singer) Vladimir Kuzmin joined Alla.
(Alla Pugacheva - in the center, with a ribbon on head, Vladimir Kuzmin - second from the right)
The concert was on 8 September 1986 near Zelenyy Mys, in the field. Special scene was build, though it was open space, where could accommodate about 7000 viewers. Those who couldn't find a seating place, watched the concert from the roof of the scene, from cranes, trucks, excavators.
The concert was filmed, but only one hour was on air, though Alla performed about three hours. Many parts of the performance were cut. For example, at the beginning of the concert she told to the liquidators:
"I understand, all of this is hard for you, you are risking your life, your health… I don't want you to think about it right now. Have a rest and a take a break!'' – these words were cut, because reminding about risks was forbidden. Also, Alla performed a song “Delu vremya” (words from phraseologism that can be translated in English like “Business before pleasure”). There is a phrase in the song: “hey, you are up there!” While performing, Alla pointed to those who were watching the concert from the roof. Still, authorities thought it was allusion to the government. Nevertheless, Alla insisted that this song was in TV-version.
Thankfully, very touching part, when Alla invites one from the liquidators for dance, was in the TV-version, though authorities didn't like this gesture and scolded her for inappropriate behavior.
In order to show Alla all of the appreciation to her, that she went to Chernobyl, and to «take her in the liquidator family» at the end of the concert then director of Chernobyl power plant Eric Pozdyshev (in Wiki I read that he was the director after the accident till 1987. If I'm wrong, hope someone correct me)` gave to Alla a liquidators suit and some kind of diploma – "for valiant and selfless work in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident". Instead of words of gratitude, she told a well-known to us phrase:
"Serve the Soviet Union!"
I don't know exactly which and how many songs were in the whole three-hours concert, but from TV-version I would like to highlight three of them – «Dve zvezdy» (Two Stars), «Belye Cvety» (White Flowers) and «Million Alyh Roz» (A Million of Red Roses)
Alla performed "Two Stars" for the first time with Vladimir Kuzmin during the Chernobyl concert. As I think, this song fits very well with Valoris, because it is about two souls (stars), who were fallen into the morning garden and couldn't back to heaven. I interpret as Boris and Valery couldn't back to normal life after Chernobyl. Other words from the song, two voices in the silence like voices of Valery and Boris, only true voices between all of the lies about Chernobyl. And, the saddest words from the song, about stars that couldn't reborn and should be burned down until falling to the ground. Just like Boris and Valery, who will die soon, "burn down" from the radiation. Two Stars is very popular now in Russia and usually performed at weddings.
"White Flowers" is veeeeery sad song (for this reason not so popular) about the parting. For me, it is also about Valoris, about the period after the court. "I have no regrets, I'm not expecting you back, I'll take the path to the garden with silver sand" – like Valery expresses his feelings after the court, understands, that he will never see Boris again "These white flowers I'll put it by the window, And then you will forget that I'm all alone. You will forget and go away; it will rain after you, You will not come to stay to cheer me up" – also Valery's doubts and fears after the court, that Boris will forget him and doesn’t want to see him at all.
"A Million of Red Roses" is not so symbolic. Still it is also a sad story of love. A painter sold all of his properties in order to impress an actress with a million red roses. Unfortunately, they have only one evening, then she left and he lived all his life alone. It is one of the most popular Alla's songs all over the world, as I know. During the concert, liquidators sang it together with Alla.
After the concert for Alla was made special reception with local authorities (I don't know if among them were Valery and Boris… maybe yes?), when she was offered something like cocktail (one third of pomegranate juice and two thirds of pure alcohol). Rumor has it, she decided to drink only pure alcohol.
Some time after the concert, Alla lost her voice for several months and got thyroid disease. Now, she regrets a little that went to Chernobyl, because this trip affected her health very badly. Also, as she told, she didn't know the whole truth about the danger of radiation, because authorities before the trip even promised to her that she wouldn't be in the affected area. Only on her way to Chernobyl on the train she understood that all over there was affected area.
TV-version of the concert

🌏😱 please 🥺
Ask and ye shall receive.
🌎 - Are there any AUs you have for your muse? What are they like, and how is your muse different from them?
I'm a sucker for fantasy & sci-fi AUs, but since Aeterno is already a fantasy setting I haven't really thought about AUs for it. Maybe a contemporary/modern/slice-of-life type AU.
Rozun definitely has a booth every year at the local arts & crafts fair and they're in on all the gossip. Murtagh is a coach who doubles as a teacher, probably history or government, but he's cool even though he just left his coffee on the roof of his car. Radia went back to school after working in an attorney's office, she's studying social work. Vallan works seasonal jobs and spends the rest of her time putting on shows with a performance troupe -- she absolutely has worked the kids birthday party circuit. Alyse is getting their PhD in medieval studies.
They all know each other through book club; originally the plan was to read books with film adaptations, then they decided to just watch the movies instead to give Radia & Alyse a break. Eventually it evolved into watching bad movies for fun once they got to the Twilight adaptations. There’s a scoreboard to keep track of who brings the funniest schlock, each month one lucky winner takes home the tiny trophy Rozun made of the Comedy/Tragedy masks.
😱 - Does your muse have any specific fears? Where did those fears come from?
Val is afraid of the dark. She's fine if there are other people around, but pitch darkness is the worst especially in an unfamiliar place. She's had the fear since she was little; sleeping alone in a room far away from her parents, in a big creaky house, there's no telling what could be in those shadows.
Radia is afraid of flying insects, specifically anything that buzzes when it flies makes her skin crawl. It's the sound and movement that make her anxious. When she was younger visiting her grandparents, a cicada got into the house and it took days to finally catch it.
Murtagh is not a fan of confined spaces or constrictive authority, due to events prior to the main story. Otherwise, not much.
Roz is afraid of large bodies of open water. The pools and lakes around the monastery aren't particularly deep, but Roz isn't a strong swimmer and once one of the other children thought it would be funny to push them in without warning.
Al might be the only one who doesn't really have a fear per se. Maybe big ol' FOMO. Like, they are very likely to take someone up on a dare even if they might get caught. I like to imagine those moments of Back to the Future where Marty gets called chicken.
xx

Bree: Body still aching from practice, and ears still ringing from coach Roz's horrible voice and Sue's oversight the last think she wanted was to meet Sam. She had already contemplated just going home. She thought of not meeting him, how it wouldn't make a difference what with him seeing Kitty. Kitty, the same girl who was practically bragging all practice long. Another reason why she didn't head out with the rest of the girls. If she had to hear another girl talk about how Kitty and Sam were cute together she knew she would be throwing punches. Coming out of the locker room fifteen minutes late she sighed and shifted the heavy duffel bag on her shoulder. Seeing Sam she didn't hide the look of surprised. "I figured you would have left already." Her face was still tight, jaw locked in a bit of anger. "So...." she started before crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm here." As if that answered everything. "How does that change the fact that you're with her?"

Yes, that was what really mattered to people, wasn't it? Pleasantness. Level-headedness. Professionalism. All things that Eboshi Kanamori was very good at displaying. That Roz, too, had long trained in (though the former was, perhaps, not her strong suit).
"Yes, at the end of the day, she's simply carrying out the decisions that the Home Office has already made, I'm sure," Roz replied neutrally. "It's not her, that makes me wonder. It's the whole thing. I've just never seen anything like it before, that's all. But I suppose I'm getting old. And I've never been good with change. My children tell me that all the time."
She shook her head, looking slightly irritated at the thought. Perhaps bringing it back to the children would remind Elinor that they had plenty of common ground here.
