Watching college gymnastics (quad meet of Ohio State, Georgia, Rutgers and Fisk) and talking about where people go to college and what for. Specifically the time my orchestra director told someone point-blank that they would not get into UW-Madison for music performance and one of the younger kids was like, "[Teacher], that's so mean to say." Nobody at my school was good enough to get in for that (even the first chairs), so it was the truth. A couple of them are now teaching music at my high school now, though.

Me: Yeah, my ex went to DePaul for music composition and now she's a tattoo artist. I actually broke up with her because I couldn't handle her starving artist lifestyle. She was always spending what little money she had on pot. She was just too much of a slacker and I couldn't handle it. Spouse: That's a lot coming from you!
