I think fanfic communities need to embrace more gen fic not just because I want there to be more for me to read (lol) but I hope that a surge in gen fic popularity would cure some people of the brain worms they have where they absolutely need to find two (usually male, let's be real) characters to slam together like two barbie dolls in all media they engage with. like I love romance and love rubbing my queer little hands all over the stuff I like but like I've learned not to go blindly into ao3 tags for media that primarily focus on familial relationships or relationships involving children, because I swear they cause some people to short circuit and write the most depraved shit because they don't know how to act outside of adding romance to canon relationships. try engaging with media on another level I'm begging you
