christians on instagram are getting mad (as usual) because cynthia erivo was cast as jesus in a hollywood bowl's production of jesus christ superstar...
1. she will objectively be INCREDIBLE. that woman is tremendously talented, it doesn't matter what your opinion on the matter is, you can't deny that
2. why do people take this as a mockery?? why do people get SO offended by jesus being portrayed by a woman?? i've literally seen people say "he can't be a woman" but..... WHY can't he?? why is it so bad for a savior, who embodies all that's good and is a symbol of hope, to be a woman?
3. ESPECIALLY in this sort of work; jesus christ superstar is about HIPPIE JESUS SINGING ROCK- have those people ever seen the 70s movie??? i feel it's pretty, as they like to say now, woke. why are they surprised by this lmao
4. also they're getting mad at a hollywood bowl production when they're just a few performances 😭😭 it's not even like they're making a broadway production (which, if it was the case, they shouldn't be mad about either, especially because it's, again, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR) or a biographical hollywood movie about jesus (which there's been a lot of and with white men cast as jesus, and i've heard no complaints about that....). and then they call other people snowflakes...
5. and obviously racism and homophobia also play a BIG part in here- people can't possibly conceive a black queer woman playing jesus. that's why they feel it's a mockery, because it's everything they hate. they preach so much about loving and accepting jesus but hate everything that's different to them. it's SICKENING. i even saw a person saying jcs was woke and bad!1!1! because it shows jesus defending the poor..... like..... what.
6. and of course, this is reaching non-theater people who have no idea about how common this kind of thing is- like when they got mad francesca amewudah-rivers was cast as juliet as if there hadn't been black juliets before and as if race played a big part in theatre casting, when, luckily, IT'S NOT THE CASE!! like, LOOK AT THE NOTEBOOK'S CASTING!!
7. lastly, they're playing the victim as if they were persecuted and hated by everyone.... white christian people. the jokes write themselves.

*sighs* Jeez.
I know that bisexuality exists because I AM BISEXUAL! And I am NOT homophobic, I have a crap ton of LGBTQ+ ships, including James + Sirius, and most in different fandoms.
I'm pretty sure that I was acknowledging the fact that LGBTQ+ people existed back then multiple times and I know that they existed since forever (We proudly ship Achilles and Patroclus! Plus the whole Sappho and her 10000000000000% lesbian poem fragments; in fact, they were so lesbian that the Greek island that Sappho was born on, LESBOS, is the root of "lesbian". A bit of history brought to you by not a historian).
I'm not sorry that I love history.
I'm not sorry that I ship Snevans/Snily and I'll defend it forever as my #3 OTP of all time (don't even think about sassing the hell out of me and trying to convince me to un-ship it; I already have 2 fanfics for the ship going on and have heard all of the trash that is directed at this ship)
I'm not sorry that I ship Remadora and James + Sirius.
And I'm DEFINITELY NOT sorry that I have opinions. Literally, read my title. You know what, I'll just retype it: "I have differing opinions and you will LIKE them". Translation? I have weird opinions and IDGAF about other people's.
Also, I was typing the original post when I was exhausted and posted it before even thinking about editing. People were already ranting and arguing and I kept forgetting to delete it. Then, people started agreeing with me.

How Wolfstar doesn't work
This is for @moonlightdancer26 and any other anti-Wolfstar.
Oh, Wolfstar shippers. We know them. We hate them. They multiply like bacteria. I will now show you how Wolfstar doesn't work.
First off, Marauder's time at Hogwarts take place during the 1970s. During the 1970s, Lesbians and Gays were suppressed and all of the LGBTQ+ stuff was happening in America during this time period, which includes the first male-male kiss on screen and when Randy Rohl asked Grady Quinn to Prom, the first male-male prom date. There was also the first LGBTQ+ tv show, first LGBTQ+ movie, a 3-hour special on WNET/channel 13, and it was before the whole AIDS thingy when people were very, like, "NO LGBTQ+!!!!" Now it's time to talk about the stuff happening in Britain during the 1970s. The Gay Liberation Front (GLF) was founded, the first issue of the Sappho magazine, a magazine was created to educate people on lesbianism, Gay News becomes the first gay newspaper, the first UK pride march, and there was a trial for blasphemy against Gay News. SO Britain was also kind of against the LGBTQ+ community. But this isn't a history report on LGBTQ+ (that might be saved for a different post on my random blog...). In short, people were against the LGBTQ+ community, so not many people wouldn't want to be suppressed and would stay closeted.
Second, REMUS IS FUCKING CANICALLY STRAIGHT. He married Nymphadora!
Third, the ship is kinda depressing. Think about it: once a month, Sirius would have to go through his partner having to turn into a monster that not even Remus himself could control. Plus Sirius' death.
Now, what did I learn from this? I probably know more about LGBTQ+ history than a lot of people.
