carol looked away from the night sky towards the woman sitting next to her instead. she chuckled softly. "oh really?" she teased, eyebrows raised. only moments ago they had been talking about carol's next journey -- most of the time, she didn't know where she was going. she'd go into the sky, idle on her ship until she was called to help someone, then she'd be occupied with that. she never knew it if was going to be a battle, a political statement, or a natural disaster. when she'd absently commented on how next time she went up to wait, she'd pass through the ramaya galaxy; a beautiful cluster of stars that she loved to watch our her window as her ship coasted by. she had been debating between doing that and staying here for now; that had been the exact topic of conversation when valkyrie had spoken. "it's really beautiful," she continued, looking away from valkyrie for a brief moment towards the stars, as if she could see it. "light blue, a different shade than i've ever seen on earth. colours and stars as far as the eye can see. sometimes i just pass it to relax; but it's not a super active galaxy, so i don't normally have much to do there." she considered it. these days, carol felt like she was burning out a bit, not unlike the exact stars in the sky that she missed. she didn't take breaks that often anymore. most of the time, when she did force herself to take a break, she did so completely alone. it might be nice to have company, especially company like her, and -- oh god, she really hoped that she cleaned her ship up before inviting a beautiful woman in. "i'd love for you to join me, if you'd like," she continued, grinning at valkyrie, hoping her excitement showed more than her nerves did. both were pretty relevant right now. "it's only a few jump points away. i could have you back by tomorrow afternoon. whatever you'd like."

maybe she'd been watching a little too closely when carol had turned her head to gaze back up at the night sky as she described the stars and the beauty of the ramaya galaxy. carol wasn't someone who often let vulnerabilities or softer sides show, not to just anyone at least... but there was something about the look on her face, in her eyes while she was focusing on something that didn't involve being a hero, or having responsibilities that val couldn't help but be intrigued by.

and maybe her words had been a bit of a flirtatious joke - not something that she actually expected carol to take her up on, - she knew that she could be such a private person and that was completely fair... but when carol did extend the offer, the smile that tugged at her lips was nothing but genuine.

yes, she knew that now, being king of new asgard, she had responsibilities, and she couldn't always just run away at the drop of a hat. and yes, thor was no longer here, he'd taken himself away with love, after what had happened, after losing jane... and that was something valkyrie would never hold against him. - she knew what that pain, what that void felt like. at least he seemed to be trying to fill that void with something healthier than the bottom of a bottle like she had... but with all of that being said, after what had happened with gorr, she also had confidence in her people. they were strong, even the younger ones. they had all proven that.

" it would be nice to ditch the suit and tie, pretend i'm not king for a little while... if the captain permits, of course. " her last few words were accompanied by more of a playful hint to her smile.

Not to mention that everyone who's ever claimed to love you has let you down in every way possible, and you'd been hesitant to take that chance with your heart again. Something about her drew you in though, and you've been falling ever since.

Valkyrie truly changed everything for you, completely turning your world upside down in the best way possible.

Valkyrie was currently helping the people of New Asgard with some manual labor, while you were sat off to the side watching her work. A tightly fitting tank top had left her arms, and midriff visible, the sight of her taut muscles as she effortlessly tossed a bale of hay over to Thor had your mouth running dry. Thankfully you'd made them a pitcher of lemonade, and then poured yourself a 'tester' cup to ensure it was up to snuff.

No matter how inconspicuous you'd thought you were being from your elevated perch, she could definitely still feel your eyes on her. Her mind was wholly distracted by you as she lazily conversed with Thor, which actually just involved listening to him rambling on about Jane still not calling him back.

"I'll be back." She pointlessly mused to the God, who continued passionately speaking to the air as she happily made her way over to you.

"Didn't your mother tell you that it's incredibly rude to stare." She greets you, while placing her hands on your hips to pull you closer to her.

"Quite the contrary actually, she taught me to admire all of the beauty that life had to offer." You playfully mused, throwing your arms over her shoulders as she settles between your dangling legs.

"So cheesy..." She replies with a flustered smile, while leaning forward to take your straw into her mouth.

"Yeah, I might be cheesy, but at least I'm not speaking like an Earth dweller. That's such an earthly concept to use one's eyes offensively, you're definitely spending too much time with Thor's dream girl." You laugh out

"Is someone jealous?" She teases, and your brows slightly furrow with the sudden wave of insecurity.

"No?"

"Oh, my dearest, I was just teasing! You're the only one for me."

"Really? Because if you're having any doubts, I'll be okay, just let me —."

Valkyrie curses herself slightly for even making the stupid comment, so she deems it necessary to cut your ramblings off with a tug on your hips. Your squeals of surprise cause her to chuckle, then you instinctually wrap your legs around her waist in search of safety.

Her lips press all over your face, leaving behind a trail of chapstick stains before they finally land upon your lips.

"I'm more than certain that you're all that I want princess, would be rather stupid of me to let someone as perfect as you go." She whisper

"Queen..." You correct with playful eyes, she lightly chuckles as she nods in confirmation, and her heart settles when she sees your smile.

With swift feet she carries your giggling form away from where Thor was continuing to move hay around, and with shockingly little effort she hoists you up onto her Pegasus.

"Where to my love?"

"McDonald's." You deadpan, and then giggle as you can practically hear her eyes rolling.

"I was hoping for 'Anywhere with you is enough for me,' but an impromptu trip to Earth works." She grunts out as she pulls on the reigns to get the both of you moving through the skies and towards your home.

This is where your powers came in handy, as you opened a portal of sorts to get to Earth, saving the both of you a days worth of travel by ship.

Valk walks through first, and you turn to Pegasus, petting him, then whispering:

"I'll bring you back some fries, don't worry.."

He neighed, lifting his front haunches, then you walked through, grabbing your girlfriends awaiting hand.

"Now who's an Earth dweller..." She grumbles, but quickly quietens at the glare passed her way.

"Well, if Thor hadn't have brought me back that Big Mac, and fizzing drink then I'd never have known of the greatest wonders of Earth."

She snorts at your wild proclamation, then guides you into the building.

"How will we pay? I didn't think to grab my emergency Earth money, all I have is the gold in my satchel."

"Sweetheart, please lower your voice..." She giggles, then pulls out a folded wallet.

"I swiped Thor's Avengers black card, so we're billing his friend the billionaire." She whispers into your ear, then passes the card through the machine, and moves your shocked form to wait at the side.

While waiting on the food, you were stood directly beside her with her arm draped over your shoulders when a young man approached.

"Wow, you're stunning." He gasps, as he looks you over, and you feel your girlfriend's arm tightening around you.

"Thanks." You weakly mutter, not even sparing the man a glance as you purposely lean further into your lover.

"Could I possibly get your number? Promise to show you a good time doll..."

Your girlfriend huffs, then shimmies her figure until she's now face to face with him, holding you protectively behind her.

"I've slain many a mam before, and none of which have ever been as measly as you. I suggest you retreat before I add you to my list."

Before he could say anything you'd thankfully heard your order number being called, so you swooped the bag up, then took your enraged girlfriend's hand and pulled her back to the alleyway you came from.

"Now who's jealous..." You mutter with a roll of your eyes, and a flick of your wrist.

"He was practically undressing you with his beady little eyes, he's just lucky you pulled me out when you did..." She grumbles, placing a protective hand over your hip, before pushing you both through the portal.

Upon arriving you immediately made your way to the upstairs balcony, and settled the food out while your lover collected Pegs dinner. The skies were exceptionally beautiful, the layers of orange and pink hues filled your vision as you watched the sun slowly disappearing from the horizon.

"Baby, pass me a fry..."

She aimlessly passes it to you, without much thought to the fact that you'd ordered your own. After the third request she finally looked over just to see an untouched plate of carrots, a guilty looking horse in the sky, and an oh too innocent looking you.

"Did you feed him fries?"

"We've been made..." You shriek, then take off down the stairs while Pegasus flies off towards his kennels.

"You little shit..." She groans, then takes off in a sprint after you.

She eventually caught up to you, thus scooping you up before tossing you onto the bed, and straddling you to tickle your writhing form.

"God, I love you..." She brightly confirms as she stares into your peaceful eyes, and you bite your lip at the tenderness of the moment.

"I love you more!" You declare, and she captures your lips for a gentle kiss.

"Impossible..." She denies against your lip, then closely cuddles into you, as her heart struggles not to beat out of her chest.

You were driving her absolutely insane, and she loved every minute of it.

(If you read part 23 before 5/11/20 you might want to go back and reread that one first before moving on. I made a big booboo and had to completely redo that chapter.)

Part Twenty-Four

I came to with someone shaking me. I cracked my eyes open to see Bruce kneeling in front of me. A look of worry plastered on his face.

"You okay?" He asked me.

I nodded not sure if I could actually form words at the moment. Bruce unstrapped me from my seat then helped me to my feet. The sight outside the window was like nothing I'd ever seen. This must be Asgard. I was literally at a place of legend. I stepped up behind Thor's seat as Bruce stood behind Valkyrie.

"I never thought I'd be back here." Valkyrie said as she watched out the window.

"I thought it'd be a lot nicer. I mean not that it's not nice it's just, it's on fire." Bruce said quickly.

Something in front of Valkyrie started beeping causing us all to look down. She pressed a button then a small hologram popped up.

"Here, up in the mountains. Heat signatures. People clustered together. She's coming for them." Valkyrie informed us.

You can drop me off at the palace. I'll lure her away." Thor told her.

"And get yourself killed?" She asked in disbelief.

"The people trapped down there are all that matters. While I'm dealing with Hela I need you three to help get them off Asgard." Thor commanded.

Bruce leaned forward to get closer to Thor.

"How the hell are we suppose to do that?" He asked the god.

Thor chuckled.

"I have a man on the ground." Thor said simply.

Bruce and I took the seats over as Thor and Valkyrie worked on getting the plan in motion. A loud bang behind me had me turning around to see a massive gun laying at Valkyrie's feet.

"Here, now the ship has a gun." I heard Thor say from behind me.

"You sure about this?" I asked Bruce quietly.

He shrugged but smiled at me. I wanted to help Thor but I didn't have any special abilities like they did. I was just a normal mundane human caught in the middle of this mess. Oh how I wished I was back home safe with Dr. Strange.

We took off away from the palace to get to the Asgardian people. I glanced behind me to see Valkyrie now in some white outfit. It suited her and made her look a lot more badass. She worked quickly on setting the gun up. My heart pounded in my chest. I did not want to die. We made it over to the mountains to find absolutely no one.

"They must have evacuated at the last second." Valkyrie said.

"Where would they go?" I asked.

"Probably to the bridge." Valkyrie answered.

Bruce was quick to turn the ship around. As we neared the bridge we could see a large group of people stopped. Something big and black was at the end of the bridge facing them.

"What the hell is that?" I asked squinting my eyes.

"Hela's mut" Valkyrie said as she readied the fun to fire.

Bruce brought us closer. He kept the ship at an angle that Valkyrie could fire the gun. That big black thing was a wolf. A huge terrifying wolf. It started running as Valkyrie rained down bullets. I looked down to see the wolf unfazed by the bullets spraying it. Valkyrie groaned as she stepped back from the gun.

"This stupid dog won't die!" She shouted.

I heard Bruce sigh. He hit a button in front of him then stood from his seat.

"Everything is going to be alright now. I got this. You wanted to know who I am." Bruce said as he walked over to Valkyrie.

I jumped from my seat quickly running over to my brother.

"Bruce no! We don't know what will happen if you do this." I spoke frantically.

Bruce smiled down at me then kissed the top of my head.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Valkyrie asked.

"You'll see" Bruce said then squeezed my shoulder.

I covered my mouth to stop from screaming as Bruce jumped from the ship. A scream did come out of me as I watched him hit the bridge hard. His body lay unmoving. The wolf touched him with his paw then quickly stepped over him. Tears burned my eyes until I saw a familiar green. He did it! He had turned into hulk and grabbed the wolf's tail pulling it back from the Asgardians. He sling the wolf backwards then roared.

"Holy shit" Valkyrie said quietly.

"You knew about that?" She asked pointing down at the Hulk.

I nodded.

"Take the controls I'll need to get down there and help." Valkyrie told me.

"What? I don't know how to work this thing." I said in a panic.

"Figure it out" she said gesturing for me to go on.

I sighed then took the seat Bruce had been sitting in. I took a deep breath then grabbed the controls. The ship instantly jerked. I'm gonna kill us all. This is not good.

"Get it on the bridge!" Valkyrie shouted.

I turned the handle causing the ship to tilt up on it's side. It flew in a tight circle then crashed hard on the bridge.

"Stay here!" Valkyrie shouted then jumped out.

I turned to watch her as I accidentally hit a button. I heard the fireworks going off as the music tried to play but it only skipped then died out. I huffed then leaned back in the seat. As long as I stayed right here I should be safe.

I sat up in my seat as I heard a loud rumbling noise. It sounded like an engine. I got up from my seat then ran over to the open door Valkyrie had jumped out of.

"Your savior is here!" I heard the familiar voice shout.

A huge dark blue ship was slowly next to the bridge. A figure was walking down the extending walkway off of it. Is that Loki? It can't be him. A bright flash of lightning over the palace drew my eyes from the new comer. What the hell is happening? The fighting continued in the distance as I shrank back into the ship. I sat on the floor with my back against the wall. Everything is going to be fine. It's going to be okay. I jumped at the sound of someone jumping into the ship with me. I shot to my feet only to see the god of mischief standing before me.

"What the hell?" I questioned harshly.

"No time to explain sit down and strap in." He said quickly as he ran to sit in front of the controls.

I quickly took the seat next to him then strapped myself in.

"This is madness." He whispered.

"What's going on?" I asked him.

"Remember that Ragnorok thing my brother talked about stopping?" He asked as he lifted the ship into the air.

"Yea" I nodded.

"I'm about to cause it." He said simply.

"Excuse me?" I shouted in disbelief.

He couldn't be serious.

"Why did you come here?" I asked suddenly.

Loki glanced at me then back on the window. He chewed his bottom lip for a moment then sighed.

"Because this ridiculously beautiful, stubborn, goddess of a woman said some pretty accurate things to me. I wasn't going to but then Thor left me behind and I felt like the smallest piece of shit in that moment. I remembered the look on your face and I couldn't have that be the last time we spoke or saw each other." He explained quietly as he flew around the palace.

My heart lifted at his words. Was he serious? He came back here because of me? He helped save these people because of me? It was like a light bulb went off in my head. Odin has been right. My heart or love for Loki had been what brought him here to help save Asgard.

The ship lowered to the ground. Loki pressed a button then stood up.

"Stay here I'll be back in just a few minutes." He explained.

I nodded then watched him run off the ship, across the landing, then inside the palace. He was right when he said it would be just a few minutes. He was back in what felt like no time.

As he lifted us back into the air a loud crash had me craning my neck to look out the window.

"What the hell is that?" I asked in a completely panic.

The firey being rose up bigger than a mountain. Loki made the space ship swerve from side to side to miss the creatures hands and falling debris. Asgard was going to be ruined. Ahead of us I could see the bigger ship drifting away from the rainbow bridge.

"They're leaving" I said pointing at the moving ship.

"Indeed" Loki said then turned to miss more falling debris.

The smaller ship we were on was faster than the bigger one. It wasn't long when we were hovering right above it. Loki watched below as he carefully lowered the smaller ship onto the top of the bigger one.
