everyone on that gaga/outkast/britney thing keeps bringing up BoB by outkast and it's really weird bc i promise you the average music listener either doesn't remember that song or thinks it's a pro-war anthem, it doesn't really define the decade the way hey ya does. it's not about your favorite song it's about what was most ubiquitous and i'm sorry but britney had soooo many other songs that were more ubiquitous. gaga had other songs from that fame/fame monster era that hit more - and besides, since it was the tail end of the 00s i think it's not fair to say she defined the whole decade, she 1st blew up when the decade was damn near over lol. i think people struggle with picking hey ya bc they're sick of hearing it but that should tell you just how in your face that song has been for over 20 years.
