I don't know if I've ever gone into it, but I'd like to believe that the sand at the lower floors of Palace of the Dead is aetherically dense or just plain magical. So any glass made from the substance is also nigh indestructible when created right. This is mostly to serve the idea that Rowan can wear her Glass Pumpkin Earring all the time without having to worry about it breaking.
