never been part of a tag game, sounds really fun! tagged by dear Lanvender, @khan-crete
Do you make your bed? A freshly decrumbed, stuffed animal arranged and dirty clothes removed bed feels great. How often do I do this? We mustn't ask (like once or twice a month) that's all making the bed entails for me, I just have a fitted then normal sheet and blankets
Favorite Number? 4 4 4 4 4! I've loved four my entire life she is like a goddess to me. 2+2 2*2 2^2, divides into halves twice. can only compete with sixteen, whose status and 2^4 and 4^2 is nice, but not as symmetric. 37 and 73 have a place in my heart as the 12th and 21st primes, but not a large place compared to 4
What's your job? What do I get paid for? undergrad lab TA, what do I do? grad research in low energy nuclear physics
If you could go back to school, would you? In school technically still. Would I rewind time to experience school again? highschool no college yes. would I go back for another college degree? I could be convinced if it would be cheap and unobtrusive to my current schooling. Was always torn between physics and linguistics. I made the right choice but I always wonder what if.
Can you Parallel Park? I have done it, on the driving test, like four or five years ago. I think I could do it again, but not too confident
Do you think Aliens are real? Eh, probably in a 'the observable universe 9.3e+9 ly across, it must have happened more than once' kinda way, but not in a 'they've been feeding us tech for thousands of years or are visiting us' kinda way.
Can you drive a manual car? Never tried, hubris tell me yes, anxiety with even normal cars tells me I'd probably fuck up the transmission while trying to leave the driveway. gonna say yeag
Guilty Pleasure? I think like cheesy childhood disney live action movies?, generally I'm pretty full chested about the things I enjoy
Favorite Type of Music? yeah, hard, a lot of vocaloid, which isn't reallly a genre, a lot of edm genres from like old school monstercat, a lot of jrock by way of anime OP's of show's I've never watched then finding other songs by those artists. some rock music though that genre is also extremely expansive and I'm not sure how I'd categorize a lot of it. Generally my music consumption consists of a group of maybe five songs completely unrelated on repeat for months at a time and genre is not a huge factor in that
Do you like puzzles? twisty puzzles like rubik's cube type puzzles are really fun working, towards doing a 3x3 blindfolded but challenging, I used to do jigsaw's with my mom but over the course of a very long time because we'd get frustrated. crosswords, but I'm no good at them
Favorite Childhood Sport? Soccerrrr. Wish I'd stayed with it, but there were only a couple more years before there wasn't a league for my age group anyway, been trying to get back into it recreationally
Do you talk to yourself? I do, but as if I'm talking to someone else. I prefer not to do it because I'm not content with my voice atm, but I find myself doing it a lot especially when getting stuck on research stuff trying to talk it out or I will say a comment to someone I disagree with outloud rather than typing it and posting it. A lot of this is to my reflection which is probably part of the reason it feels like someone else lol
Tea or Coffee? tea all the way. drank iced sweet black tea my entire childhood and started drinking it hot with milk in college. I was the kind of person that disliking coffee was a sort of pillar of my tastes, but then a few years ago made it with like half milk and a lot of sugar and like it, lotta people wouldn't call that coffee, but eh.
First thing you wanted to be when you grew up? The actual first thing was everything. I would amalgamate like all the stereotypes of things kids want to be into one so a firefighter-astronaut-whatever else. When I got a better sense of my interests, inventor, so I guess like product designer, but what that meant to me was I got to sit around and think of neat gadgets and items then figure out how to make them like freeze ray, time machine, clone gun, that kind of thing lol. the first practical idea of a job I wanted was theoretical physicist in like middle school, which I kinda am now so success I guess
What Movies do you Adore? not much of a movie person, but like to watch movies other people are interested in with them, love castle in the sky, LOTR, howl's moving castle, your name, probably others in those categories I don't know about yet or have forgotten and I have a strong soft spot for childhood halloween movies like twitches and halloweentown
I'm curious what @arc-archernar and @charyou-tree have got to say if they'd like to, and anyone else that wants to participate!

I know your requests are closed but I love hearing about your version of eyeless jack, can you please info dump about how you invesion him looking and acting and how his personality is?
My version of EJ is like a 6'6ft tall grey, semi-feline demon. He's not ENTIRELY built, but well toned. Back when he was human, I think he wore reading glasses lol. He's got chestnut colored short-ish hair, snake bites, and gauges! His ears are kinda elf-like? More like,,, the longer I think of it the more I kinda want to make them like a caracal.
I love to write EJ as a JERK. Nothing less, nothing more he is a jerk imo. Sarcastic, never rude unless you deserve it, but his ego is so massive it's unbelievable. He knows he's valued for a reason, and he will use that leverage as he sees fit. He's not entire incapable of empathy, but he realizes caring in such a deep capacity will bring along hurt in the long run. He's smart, introspective, can get the job done and incredibly poetic when he feels like it. I think he's got some cat-like tendencies as well. Loves to do those word searches, crossword and Sudoku in his free time. Also prone to just,, goin' out in the woods and doing his thing. I'd say my EJ is pretty on par with everyone else's EJ? But he's really not going to polite 24/, he's quite brash and likes to push limits.
I've seen some artists on insta give him three fingers/claws? But I like a full hand with pretty sharp claws that he enjoys painting every now and then. Large incisors, three inky black/mauve tongues that hide in the back of his throat that he can control independently, and a relatively deep voice? I think EJ, as a human, was Slavic to begin with but didn't get that noticeable of an Eastern European accent until he was fused with Chernobog! So yeah, that! Part of me wants to say he has a tail but no,,,, not,,, not yet,,,, Wears a gold chain. Just because. His eye sockets are a bit sensitive to warm weather, but they feel great when it's cold. He can't,,, see? per se? I think he actually tends to see the world in thermal, or shades of grey, primarily feeling the world and using a kind of echolocation like a bat! Or perhaps his vision has been changed to an entirely different plane of existence - like a third eye wide open. He sees the world in outlines and aura colors. The tar tears only appear when he's hungry. They start weeping, he knows he has to eat. It's annoying.
I think he's got some heavy scarring on his torso and back from his years working, and he finds his height absolutely cumbersome. He wishes he was a bit shorter just to he could stealth better, but the intimidation factor is something he absolutely adores. He loves to push people to their limits and is absolutely that guy to say "not to play devil's advocate, BUT". Has a deep distrust of women because of Jenny, especially if they share her name or look anything like her. He's tired of hearing about how much he likes kidneys just because he went through a brief spell where they were his comfort food when he was learning about his new life.
I've mentioned it before, but he has a really soft spot for birds.
He knows he's right, otherwise he wouldn't have entered the conversation to begin with. He shuts things down as quick as he starts them. He doesn't necessarily drip class like Slender Man, but he knows his way around people despite not entirely enjoying them. He's a fantastic manipulator and will use whatever you tell him against you if he needs to. There is no such thing as too low in his opinion.

Hi hibs, Ive been wanting to get into writing alot recently, and just wanted to know how you Got started. Your work is literally iconic
Hello!!! I'm so glad you want to get into writing! I'm not sure if you want to know how I got into writing period, or how I got into writing fanfic. I'm going to assume the former :) (also thank you for the compliment!!!)
TLDR, I started writing because my mother invested in my ability to express myself. I kept writing because I couldn't live without it. If you want to start writing, you need to maintain discipline (actually write), write because you want to not because you feel like you have to (from the heart!!), and engage with other written works (reflect as you read).
I've been writing for as long as I can remember. Honestly! I was a voracious reader as a child. My mother was a massive proponent of my reading habit, and she basically gave me book after book to devour. I also watched a lot of cartoons, so I had a massive imagination from a young age. I also, uh, was a maladaptive daydreamer. There were a lot of stressors in my life and in retrospect I have realized that I was a really, really anxious child, so fiction and fantasy offered me a world to escape into. As a result, I think I really did start with writing fanfiction. I used characters from stories and cartoons I loved and created stories in my head involving them and myself!! I was a little self-insert baby LMAO but I don't think there's anything wrong with that! Especially when you're a child, you're your own point of reference, right, necessarily? So I used to put myself in my own stories, whether acting them out on my own with my imaginary friends or drawing art and comics or writing things. (I also really enjoyed converting fictional characters to Islam as a child AKLJGKLAJGLKA fun fact!)
When I got older (like 6 or 7), I asked my mom for writing prompts. I took any opportunity I could to write. This is around the time I think I got into writing non-fiction as well! I LOVED writing persuasive essays (also on prompts my mother would give me, or as part of homework I got for my English or social studies classes). She also really emphasized the importance of reading widely, and I think that's a huge reason my vocabulary expanded as much as it did. She never really stopped me from reading books, no matter the genre, which...in retrospect, maybe not great, LOL, but it did mean I was getting exposed to complex writing and advanced vocabulary very young. She would give me long words and tell me to make shorter words from the letters, buy me tons of logic puzzle books, crosswords, etc, and she actively fended off other adults who were concerned that I was spending too much time on my hobbies and not enough time, idk, doing sports. I really appreciate how much she protected me from other people. She always had complete and utter faith that I would turn out just fine, and that my hobbies (writing, reading, painting, arguing lol) were going to be a huge reason why. Also, she pretty much read everything I read too, so we were able to actually talk about the books I was reading! I think this was huge tbh.
I fell off the writing train for several years, largely because I was suddenly surrounded by people who didn't think my ideas were interesting or complex or worth exploring. I was told my writing was too flowery (I now think that person was just jealous TBH.....), that I wasn't imaginative or novel enough, that I should just stick to writing poetry. So I convinced myself I was a persuasive writer and poet, but nothing beyond that. And there's nothing wrong with that!
Throughout, though, fanfic kept reeling me back in. I was 10? when I wrote and published my first fanfic (GENDERBENDED BEYBLADE), and I wrote on and off ever since - sometimes to publish, but mostly just for myself. Whenever I was dissatisfied or emotional over a book/piece of fiction, I'd let myself write fanfic to process it. I also had original characters that I created with some friends that we would roleplay through and I really do think that helped me understand how to create distinct characters who react to different stimuli in different ways. This is so important!!! And I think the early 2010/2011 tumblr landscape that offered OC tag games REALLY helped with this too. And again, none of this writing was really going anywhere...which was also really key. I was writing to my own satisfaction, no one else's, and I found that I was really critical. Throughout, I was still reading books. So my understanding of what good writing was changed and developed. It never stayed stagnant - and yet there were books I kept coming back to, no matter my age! What was compelling about them? That also really helped me figure out what timelessness in writing might look like.
But I still didn't see myself as a creative writer. I was a poet and an academic writer. Maybe an essayist. But I certainly didn't have the imagination to write original plot. I had been told that enough times my certain people. I believed it. When I wrote fanfiction, it was porn without plot. I could write smut. Really well, too! But that's not the same thing as being a creative writer (this is what I thought - it's not true at all).
It wasn't until March 2021 that I started regularly writing fanfiction to be published again. But it wasn't until late last year, when I started working on Carlando fanfiction, that I actually realized that I might really be a creative writer with the capacity to come up with plot. And now I'm really pissed off because who the fuck was anyone else to say that I wasn't, or that anyone else isn't, a creative writer? Writing is a muscle! No one is born a runner. No one is born an athlete. Some people are predisposed to certain activities and maybe are more naturally talented, but talent atrophies! Talent is useless without discipline! And you don't have to be a childhood savant to be good at something! You can start writing at 4, 11, 18, 25, 32, 40, it doesn't matter, so long as you are disciplined and curious and open-minded and dedicated to the craft, so long as you do it for YOURSELF first and foremost because it's something you enjoy and something that makes your heart happy even when it's difficult, because if you don't write it, you'll always feel like something is missing, because if you don't write it, it doesn't matter who else does: because you didn't write something when you wanted to write it.
Writing is a muscle you exercise. Writing is also an internal compulsion. And it is also an interactive process. If you want to start writing, you need to be able to do all three things:
Be disciplined in writing (not that you need to write a certain way or be organized in a certain way, just that you need to be able to write! period! no matter what! set goals and try your best to meet them! this will help SO much later on)
When you write something, write it because you NEED to, not because other people have told you you should write it or because you want to get views (that's important and it'll come later, but not early on!). Good writing really does come for the heart. It's very obvious when you read writing that isn't heart-felt. And it feels worse when you write something you don't want to write.
Engage with other works. I'm not saying you need to take a pencil to everything you read (though you can and it doesn't hurt lol) but really, reflect as you read! Why did this work? Why didn't it work? What might have made it better? How did it make you feel? And then incorporate all those lessons in your own writing!
Sorry. Wow. This got very autobiographical. And super long. I do not have a degree in English or creative writing. I'm a political scientist and proto-lawyer by training lol.....but I hope this helps anyway!

aight you asked for it. here's the shit rant filled with run-on sentences, sentence fragments, spelling errors, and very inconsistent verb tenses
I feel like with Jack it would be more about the subtle things? I love the idea of fishing with him at the pond next to his cabin and just talking about our day or enjoying the silence between us. And maybe we'll read books or something and the warm sunlight would be so comfortable and soothing. Looking over at him and seeing him doze off and take a nap and just watching him sleep peacefully. Him complaining when I wake him up to tell him to sleep inside and then just letting him nap there for just a few more minutes because he just looks so adorable and peaceful. And then dragging him inside when the sun starts to go down and small cheek kisses as he gets up from his chair. Feeling a little too tired for a big dinner so preparing something small and helping each other out in the kitchen. Him preparing the things but me doing the actual cooking because this man would absolutely burn the whole kitchen down if he got anywhere near the fire. Back hugs while waiting for the food to cook and maybe some playful slow dancing or something. Eating dinner while watching the simpsons and listening to him rant about the show. Laughing when he makes a joke and him smiling because he made me laugh. Rinsing the dishes together but he's so stupid and he splashes the water everywhere so it ends up being a small water fight where we just splash water at each other and our clothes get wet. We'd go upstairs and I'd take a shower and then come out like 30 minutes later and he'd complain because I took too long. Going over to the bed and laying down and he tries to cuddle but I laugh and tell him to go shower first. And he just sulks over to the bathroom and gives me puppy dog eyes but I glare back at him with a smile and he just raises his hands up like okay okay and goes in to shower. But he's a cheeky son of a bitch so he takes off his clothes before going in and makes sure that I'm watching him go. Then sticking his tongue out at me and going in to shower. Both of us done with our bed time routines and then snuggling up in bed together. Forehead kisses and then going to sleep. Waking up with the sunlight shining through the curtains and cuddling up closer to him. Looking up at him and watching him sleep and wondering what on earth I could have done to have this precious man in my life and just smiling to myself as I think about him. And him just mumbling for me to stop staring at him because he's been awake and then me feeling lowkey embarrassed cause he caught me. Cuddling a bit more before trying to leave the bed but he whines and tells me not to leave so we cuddle for a bit more. Trying to leave again and he whines again so I tell him that I'll make breakfast and he lets me go because breakfast is good lol. Making pancakes and eggs with bacon and he comes down 5 minutes after I leave and he starts making the coffee. Back hugs again and soft kisses. Eating breakfast while watching cartoons or reading the newspaper and solving crossword puzzles. Breakfast finished but we're both too lazy for the dishes so we just leave them there. Going outside for a nice morning walk and him teasing me when I run out of breath. Maybe we go on a trail through the forest and see a deer or something but then we scare it off and then blame each other for it. After the walk coming back to the house and taking a nap on the couch for a few hours. Waking up from hearing a knock on the door and it's the rest of the gang and we have fun all night. Playing games and eating pizza or something and the small glances we share and our hands brushing by each other any time we get the chance. The rest of our friends rolling their eyes because we're so sappy but we don't care and we sneak in little kisses as much as possible to make the others feel awkward lol. Everyone being tired at midnight and falling asleep. And while the others sleep we go on the roof and watch the stars and fall asleep in each other's arms. And oh my god I love this man so much
lmaooooo i just realized that like halfway through the rant i just completely changed the location from his cabin to his house. anyways hope that helps or something idk
