#i will get the entire office to say 'girl math' in some capacity someday

this is something i feel tumblr would like.

so i'm decently young (23) and i'm working in this office environment. it's way different than my old help desk library job and i don't interact with a lot of people on a daily basis anymore. i also work from home a lot more.

the thing is, as many of you have seen from a lot of my posts: i have the mouth of a sailor. which is a no-go in an office environment unless you have like, a chill boss and chill coworkers or you say it under your breath.

now i'm relatively new to this position. i'm an intern so of course i need to be shown the ropes. i was assigned something by a manager and the guy training me pops into my teams pm and says something along the lines of 'did you know you were going to be doing this?' and said 'no lol'. bc that was the first time i was hearing about it.

so of course the person training me is going to teach me, which i feel bad about bc he also didn't know i was assigned this. so he says he'll teach me how to generate the report for it and not to worry, i send him a thanks and an elmo gif bc why not. and then he sends me one word in reply.

"Bet."

I take 10d6 psychic damage. But this was all my fault. A monster of my own doing.

you see, when you have the mouth of a sailor you learn how to filter yourself in different situations. 'oh no' is more appropriate to say when your boss springs something on you rather than 'are you shitting me'. but my self made filter also catches a lot of my gen-z vernacular.

so while working from home on meetings you're muted. you can scream at a motherfucker and they will be none the wiser. i let my filter drop at home bc, well, it's home. but that's where i fucked up.

the guy training me gave me an assignment and showed me how to do it, and when he asked if i understood, i said, "Bet".

I obviously apologized for the slip up (he thought i was calling him 'bub' which no, please, don't hate me) and I went back to my silly little work task.

But That Wasn't all.

I react to the message with a little emoji and think nothing of it. And then he sends me another message.

"This report is going to be bussin'"

I die on the spot.

I'm so glad to work from home today bc my laugh would've been heard around the office.

tl;dr: i fucked up and said 'bet' to one of my coworkers and now a guy old enough to be my dad is saying 'no cap', 'bet' and 'bussin' to me. we are bonding.
