hot take
apart from the UI being based on pocket edition, i think bedrock is a neat successor to legacy console.
#rambles#minecraft#i will always love java the most but bedrock's good for when i'm not on pc#i do wish they could make template seeds of the old tutorial worlds to like preserve them

I guess I will talk a bit about it because people are so curious.
So my niche fixation is on game accessibility settings. Before I start going deeper on this I will preface it with this, I am not the person who needs all these settings, I don't have motor issues that prevent me from playing games.
I use a few settings, such as subtitles and slower text speeds, even stuff like toggle instead of hold, and hold instead of repeating presses. Occasionally even toning down colours or removing flashing lights when I get really bad migraines. I use these settings to make my experience better as a person with slow reaction times, difficulty processing audio and a high risk of developing wrist related injuries.
Not sure how my fixation on this stuff started but it's a big thing with me. Any time I get a new game the first thing I do is go to the settings to see if there are any accessibility options. I know quite a bit about the common settings given and the least common. As well as the most game specific options.
I also love watching videos on the topic and so on. I actually wanted to develop games a while ago, I still would if I had time to learn game engines and stuff.
I'm going to try show the stuff I look at through examples, the stuff that really fascinates me and makes me happy
Gonna do a classic first, Celeste
People always talk about Celeste's assist mode, it really did revolutionise accessibility in games. Firstly, when you turn it on it doesn't baby you or mock you for needing help (a concerning amount of old games do, they even lock people out of content on some games) it does say it isn't the intended way to play but if it allows someone who wasn't able to enjoy it before to play.
The settings here make sense with how Celeste is, they are all adjustable, it isn't a plain 1 setting that makes you god and makes you insta win.
You can adjust a lot and it can help a lot. I probably won't use these settings when I play the game (I haven't played yet, just watched a friend) but if I start struggling to an extremely bad level I would be happy to have these options. Even just being able to skip a level to come back to later would be nice.
But yeah, I can't say much about Celeste especially since I haven't played it. I would recommend this video for a more in depth look at Celeste and accessibility settings

Let's look at a game I know more about
Minecraft :)
As you can see, Minecraft has a big menu of these settings. If you know this menu you can also see how I have changed it a bit.
This menu is also the reason I play Java edition over Bedrock. These settings are my absolute favourite. The biggest accessibility menu I know of.
I could go through this 1 by 1 but I will just pick a few of these settings to discuss further.
Let me talk about the setting I get the most out of first. Toggle Sneak. I love toggle sneak so much, it always has to be on for me. I love not having to hold down shift to stay crouched, no having to fear falling, if I press shift I stay down until I press shift again. It is really helpful, and means my pinky doesn't hurt. The one reason I won't play bedrock is this.
Toggle sprint is the same but with sprinting, it's nice. Most people know this one
View bobbing is nice, I keep it on but my sibling has to turn it off. The bobbing makes them motion sick so having the ability to turn it off is very nice
And lastly I will talk about the most interesting. Subtitles. I love how Minecraft does subtitles, it's very easy to see without covering too much of the screen and very effectively shows where and what a sound was. I like it a lot
More recently, Cult of the lamb. These settings are good (I would get a screenshot but my game is updating really slowly)
They actually added stuff for these settings recently. Stuff like, making sure weapons always spawn. I also like the choices of difficulty and stuff. Easy mode is really nice for me as a guy with like 5 minutes of time to game a week.
Honestly my favourite thing about these settings is just seeing stuff that so many people don't need to look at. Seeing what developers thought was needed in order for people to enjoy a game. Some games just have a colour blind mode, some have many menus, some have nothing. Some have difficulty menus, some have customisable sliders for difficulty.
I also love seeing people who would have never experienced a thing have the ability to play. People with disabilities, younger siblings, older relatives. Everyone :)
But really I like seeing what stuff is put in these menus. I highly recommend this playlist by Game Maker's Toolkit, it begins with that earlier Celeste video.
I also recommend this old extra credits video on the curb cut effect
youtube
And while I'm sharing these videos I love rewatching and stuff. Have this also
youtube
Anyways yeah, I am normal about this stuff
Thinking about my niche interest again
#rambling ray#i am so normal about this stuff#long post#apologies y'all#sorry if it is a lot of incompressible rambles#i haven't had time to plan anything. this isn't exactly an essay for any universities or anything

Oh dear that sounds like it must suck jdnd oms XDD I personally am not a fan of taking art classes in school bc I suffer in most school environments for creative things like art- I just prefer to keep drawing as an at home thing, I gave art classes many a second chance but they were so boring and technical and always had such a hard-coded path so nahh, so unexciting and unfulfilling.
XDD Well you could explain it again, it's a very good reason--
Hmmmb buzz your head, I did /j (I actually did it tho XD) I mean.. I personally recommend trying out a short haircut tho (as a person who has tried many short hairstyles-- pixie cuts w/shaved sides + back are the superior haircut XD I'm actually growing my hair out from shaving it all off tho- I havent had long hair since I was like, 8, and I hope I like it this time around cause I like the idea of it-) but anyways short hair is super easy to style and worth trying even though hair takes a while to grow out-- and alsoo it's easier to wear a wig over short hair XD
YESS I stim a lot when I get excited XDD so much moving around and pacing-- (points to when I initially became friends with you--)
XDD cool, I've been adopted by someone! ..again! XD
Unrelated but I'm playing Minecraft and got reminded of how no one ever wants to play games with me ;w; none of my siblings care for Minecraft so I'm always playing alone-
SAMEEE- i dont really wanna pursue art as a career or anything- i just draw for absolute fun ! and awhh well im slightly glad i didnt choose art class as my elective then xD
and oo i guess your right- i have the feeling i can actually convince my mom cause like- i havent asked for a gift for months- the last time i bought something- it was persona 4 golden when it went on steam- which was like jUNE-July xDD but man- if i ask her she better not go all like- "okay but THATS YOUR CHRISTMAS GIFT-" XDDD so maybe ill wait or see what will happen
and man- back at march when quarantine started- i knew this was the absolute oppurtunity to have short hair- i dreamed of having hair short to where it reaches my chin or neck- but my mom (THE CLASSIC ASIAN- /hj) is all like "no- you will look ugly-" HAHA- okay she didnt say "ugly" she just kept saying "you wont look good with short hair" but I AM JUST H U R T MAN-
but when i have FULL FREEDOM (possibly when i become an adult- I DONT EVEN WANNA GROW UP THO NOOOO-) i wanna cut my hairrr short at LEAST once- cause yolo- right? xD i jus wanna experience short hair mOoOOOMMMm whYYyYY
and oo! im not an expert with hairstyles or anything but i searched that style up and man that looks good! i dont expect/want to have hair too short though- for me im feminine as fuuuuuu xD (and when i say i wanna crossdress- i will mostly be a femboy ;v; 💞)
and HECK YEAHH STIM SQUADD- whenever i get so excited my heart races so fast and i just cant stay still- and im so addicted to the feeling that i wanna feel it everytime- thank gosh its so easy to do that- i can just look back at posts where i recieved love and affection as well as look at posts of my OTP and BOOM- ID BE SCREAMING- XDD and when i became friends with you too is one of them like AAAA- i also ramble to larie and tree everything i love- and today i actually rambled to them about you! i hope that doesnt sound creepy or weird- i just ramble to them over E V E R Y T H ING that happens to me XDD ❤️❤💞❤❤️
AND HOLY CRAP- YOU PLAY MINECRAFT-- ok- ok o k- no n o im not falling for this again- every single time i meet someone who says they play minecraft- EVERY SINGLE PERSON I MEET- THEY HAVE BEDROCK while I ON THE OTHER HAND have JAVA LIKE WKHTOWJFOAJ no /nm xD - im not falling for it again- /J XDD tell me if you have bedrock or java- i wont get mad if you have bedrock but ill be so happy if you have java xD
#the rambles of crystu#i wrote this when i was coming back from being on a ferris wheel and WOOOO it was fun
