Commission Process

For people wanting a more detailed outline of my process! This is in relation to the lineart commissions I’m providing on my commission page. If you’re contacting me for something outside of that scope, the process will be slightly different.

The process is as follows:

1) You email me with what you want. We’ll have a bit of a back and forth so I can begin to conceptualize your image and character(s), and I’ll confirm the price with you - so if you’re unsure how much 3 characters will cost, I can tell you that :) If you have a lot of details you want added, I will let you know now how much that would add onto the cost.

2) I send the invoice, you pay it I have a business account on PayPal, so I’m able to send you an invoice for this project. YOU don’t need a PayPal, just a debit or credit card - though you CAN also pay through PayPal, if you have one. Please note that I don’t work on the drawing until I’m paid!

3) I send you a messy sketch (or sketches), showcasing the general pose(s) If you don’t know what pose you want, I will sketch out one or several (usually messy) ideas to send you, so we can decide on a direction. I usually send about three.

If you already had a very clear posing and composition that you’ve told me, I’ll probably only send one sketch. This is just to confirm some things - like that the characters are sitting how you expect them to, or whether the perspective is right, or that I’ve made the characters the correct height/proportions, etc.

NOTE: Major changes to the drawing should happen at this step, if they happen at all. Once you confirm you like the direction, I start on making it into an actual drawing with character details and such.

4) I work on the lineart At this stage I will mostly be working, so you won’t hear from me much. I MAY send you a few questions for clarification.

5) Lineart check-in I send you the mostly finished lineart (it will still be slightly sketchy/messy at this point) and you tell me if there’s anything you want me to fix. We may have a bit of a back and forth here, until you confirm you like it. This is the last point major changes can be made.

6) Flat Colour check-in I’ll send you the image with flats added, and you tell me if any of the colours look weird or are wrong until you confirm it’s good. If you paid for Full Colour, I move on to the next step.

If you’ve paid for Flat Colour only, this is where your commission journey ends! I’ll send you an email with the full-size and watermark-free image attached, so you don’t experience any compression from whatever site we were using to communicate.

7) Full Colour Check-in I’ll send you the fully coloured image, and this is your final point of pointing out that something looks weird or incorrect. I only do minor corrections only at this point, but that includes if you think I shaded their face/whatever weirdly and you want me to adjust it.

Once you confirm it’s good, I’ll send you an email with the full-size and watermark-free image attached, so you don’t experience any compression from whatever site we were using to communicate. (Most websites shrink images automatically).
