"jason isn't sassy" have you ever had a chance to sit and read the books. he just has a brain to mouth filter.
#it's so roman/praetor/guy who takes his jobs v seriously of him really#it's endearing!!#i was rereading some of boo the other day and in jason's chapters he's got a lot of shit to talk in his head#it's just that he keeps those thoughts right there. inside of his brain. so he comes off as much less funny/less sassy in every other pov#and that's what you missed by skipping his pov! [throwing rocks at you]#hope he's talking his shit wherever he is [toa is not real to me]#heroes of olympus#jason grace

Why The Blood of Olympus and House of Hades were underwhelming to me. As I reread The Blood of Olympus (BoO) I know realized why I remembered so little about it, it was underwhelming to say the least. Not only was 14 year old me (I'm 18 as of 7/2/20) absolutely heartbroken that the House of Hades (HoH) was underwhelming from a percabeth point of view but we also didnt get the full story of the adventure both groups went through and the same applies for BoO. There are many times where the story skips ahead for plot convenience, and I totally understand that because these books can only be so long, but in doing so it feels almost rushed or like you fast forward through some parts of the movie until you get to the action. I myself felt like Nico when he shadow travels and knocks out for a day or two and when he wakes hes told a water downed version of the story. Not to mention the lack of Percabeth, after reading the Mark of Athena (MoA) not only was I heartbroken but also happy in the fact that Percy and Annabeth have each other to go through tartarus. Yes I understand that the whole time it cant be all lovey dovey but when we do see them interact it's always brushed over, "Percy would ever so often look over and tell me words of encouragement or take my hand..." - paraphrasing HoH. And then when the BoO comes out it feels like Percy and Annabeth are relegated to just side characters. I understand that Jason, Piper, and Leo began this spinoff and it makes sense for them to finish it but I mean c'mon you have the most powerful demigod in all of history and arguably one of the smartest and they are nothing more than side characters in the last book. Sure we get some heart felt Percabeth moments like Percy not wanting Annabeth and Piper to go to sparta alone because he doesnt want to lose her again and then the kiss and the water spring in Athens before the final battle. Yes, Jason, Piper, and Leo began this series so they should conclude it, however, those three stand on the shoulders of Percy, Annabeth and Grover and to see them relegated to side characters breaks my heart. I figured at least we would get a chapter from Percy or Annabeth finally settling down and being happy (I have not read Magnus Chase nor the trials of apollo but I will in theses next few weeks when the books come in) because that's all they wanted and that's what they fought for. Call me a simp for not getting enough Percabeth in the HoH and BoO but I feel like those two deserved more than what they got in those two books.
