Hello everyone!
Welcome to the brand new Charmie Autumn Festival -- Fall in Love with Charmie. See what I did there? Lol
Let's get our collective creative (peach) juices flowing. The festival will run all of October, so if you're like me and the writing gods strike at odd times, you'll have until Halloween night. 馃巸
I got this brilliant idea from the Merlin fandom and their fluffapalooza, I hope they won't mind I basically charmie-fied their idea. Big love to them.
So what's the festival about?
Need some inspo? Want some distraction? Need to read about the boys in all their sweater-wearing glory?
You got it! You'll find a list of prompts below that'll help you create awesome fanwork. Let us showcase all the amazing talent we have in this fandom.
Here are the prompts:
Rules
Write, draw, edit and gif to your heart's content... but each fanwork must connect one prompt from each column. I mean who wouldn't want to read about a royal family of vampires who love their pumpkin spice lattes mixed with a little blood? 馃槅 The possibilities look endless, I know.
Are you thinking fluffy or kinky? It's all good -- the only requirement is that it must have a happy ending.
Some guidelines:
Add your fics and fanart to the AO3 collection here, which will open on Sunday, October 1 and close on Tuesday, October 31.
If you prefer to post your works on tumblr, no problem! Please use the tag #fall in love with charmie during the festival, and I'll be sure to reblog and share the love here.
For fic writers: multi-chapters are accepted, but please be sure to complete it by the end of the Festival.
If you'd like to include more than one prompt from each column, that's perfectly fine!
If you prefer to create with Elio/Oliver and CMBYN, you're more than welcome to join. The more the merrier.
I'll be adding some new prompts throughout the festival to keep it interesting. If there's any you'd like to see, send me an ask!
Feel free to share this across different platforms and reach out if you have any questions or ideas to add, I would love to hear from you.
Happy Autumn! 馃崅馃槝

very much agree lol. its just sticks out as a modern word in a fantasy setting. give me a made up word!!! give me some cultural background give me some barebones creativity!! such rep in vg is so nonexistant and ofc im glad there is an effort but idk. try intergrating it into the existing world in a natural/believable manner it only requires a bit more effort : ) especially since we're visiting a newer part of thedas where you can create new cultural and societal dynamics. hopefully that'll be the eventual evolution of things
exactly! i know several trans people worked on the game and weekes is nb so there are definitely good intentions and i don't think the storyline is going to be offensive, but i think a fantasy world where sexuality and gender is treated as something natural that will have come to exist and interact with their society feels so much more thoughtful. the way they do sexuality has been handled so far lore-wise has been really good imo, i like how there are realistic distinctions between different regions' attitudes towards sex in a way that feels like it's been thought through. to just be like "yeah this guy's gay he says he's gay so the audience will know what's up" would feel out of place, and i feel it's the same for trans and nb people. i just wish trans characters weren't treated so... tentatively even though i know it isn't trans creators fault when they are

ngl when chunkbase said there was a skele spawner and a geode close by, I didn't think it meant this close by wtf. XD
This is going to require ... a lot of thinking about how to wrangle the two farms lol. In the meantime, I have built the world's longest and jankiest staircase to get back up again. I will probably put in bubblevators later on maybe. ig I got lucky that it's surrounded by deep dark tho so I don't have to worry about mob spawns. And I've broken all the shriekers I can find bc who wants a warden down here? not me lol. There was also a smol iron vein nearby that I got a stack of iron from, so. :D
I do want to get this one up and running, as well as a zombie spawner for leather/rotten flesh. Once they're built, I'll probably test them out in easy to make sure they're working, and once I'm happy with that, I'll move to easy permanently.
also apparently my closest cherry grove biome is also near where my stronghold is so. that's ... fun. o.o i haven't even been to the nether yet, let alone thought about the end. XD
And we're going to get cherry trees next bc this is in the middle of the mountain my starter base is looking at, and a) it's covered in so much snowier snow oml and b) I'm gonna build a lil shrine there and plant cherry trees everywhere. So all the spruce has to go and I'll prob make a lil snow farm to go and replace all the snowier snow with proper snow so I don't have to deal with it. I have leather boots, but tbh that's not the point. XD I should flood it with water, that'll sort the snowier snow out. :D
Also there are two lil cave areas that connect through from the outside of the mountain near my storage house through to the grove here. So I've been tidying them up a lil in preparation for proper stairs and pathways.
I didn't take a screenshot of it, but there's now a dirt bridge connecting my starter cave area to this mountain and that leads into a tunnel that opens up to this grove. I got so many tunnels going lol. XD
I did have to take my first death tho bc as I was digging the janky staircase down to the skele spawner, I got lost in a small cave area and couldn't find where the staircase had opened into the cave. IT WAS SUCH A SMALL AREA HOW DID I GET LOST idk but I got an axolotl out of it so who's winning? :D But this is why I play with keep inventory on so I can die and go back to spawn and follow the staircase back down to where I left off lol.
Tomorrow, we go cherry tree hunting. I also want to mock out the roof for my storage house in creative bc the vision I have is. Complicated lol. And I want to get it right before I start building it in survival. And I want to start making the lil river that's going to flow between the two mountains. Do some terraforming to get the shape right and fill in any open cave areas that I don't want to just flood with water lol.
#minecraft builds#java solo world#the mountain shrine#i've been digging too much again#but at least i now have unbreaking iii on all my tools#and hey i made a sword! for the first time lol#i never need one in peaceful ngl but i'll need one for the xp farms

As expected, this weekend was all about handsewing on the narrow black and gold trim to the RRD overdress. I sewed in between tasks for making mushroom and wild rice soup, and I sewed while Jack and I rewatched the four hour Snyder cut of Justice League. I sewed all through my phone call with my mom on Saturday, and in between selecting cards in All Bad Cards during family game night on Sunday.
But the good news is that I'm actually making progress! Slow progress, since I'm sewing down each long edge of the trim with a separate length of thread, and doing about eight stitches per inch on each side. But my technique is getting better and faster, and I figured out why I was getting tiny bumps here and there in the first bit I sewed down. So I'm starting to feel like this stage of the project is possible, and that I might even be able to finish it before the end of June.
Sometime on Friday I realized that the really slow and fiddly part of this is getting the first edge of the trim sewn down. That's the side that I'm lining up with the seam itself, just barely overhanging it so the seam is never actually visible. That requires lining up my stitches super carefully, while making sure I'm not getting any weird bubbles or ripples in the trim or the fabric, and nudging the trim back into place for each and every stitch -- about eight of them, every inch.
By comparison, the second edge of the trim goes much faster, since it's really just smoothing out the 1/8" wide trim and sewing through the red silk and the black organza seam finishing on the inside. It's not quite mindless handsewing, but it's pretty close. Before that realization, I had been sort of leapfrogging back and forth between them pretty often -- sewing down the first side for three or for inches, then sewing the second side to the same point, then switching back to the first side. It was a lot of switching around and wasting time without any real benefit.
So for the last part of Friday and all of Saturday, I focused on just getting as much of the first side sewn as possible, leaving the second edge just free flapping for now. Then on Sunday when I couldn't sit at my sewing table and instead had to sew with the dress on my lap on the couch while playing games and chatting with family over a Discord voice call, I was able to do the second edge much faster and easier with very little attention paid to it.
As of Monday morning, I have one length of trim from armscye to hem completely sewn down, and the matching seam on the other side has its trim attached the whole way down, and then sewn on the second edge about a third of the way down. The third of the four underarm seams has the first edge of the trim sewn down to a few inches below the waist, may not quite halfway to the hem, and the top few inches just below the armscye has the second edge sewn down too, just because I had a loose bit of thread that I wanted to use there lol. With some creative folding I was able to get all three into that second picture, with the first pic showing just the finished top few inches right under the armscye.
We're back in the workweek now, but I think I should be able to make some pretty good progress, aside from a meeting tomorrow and lunch appointment on Wednesday. The way the dress is divided up, with its ten panels, there are these four seams that end at the armscye in the underarm region, and then there are four seams that go over the shoulder, two front and two back, two right and two left. Those seems meet pretty cleanly at the shoulder seam, but they'll also be overlapped slightly by the wide neckline trim eventually.
So I'm thinking that once these four underarm trim lengths are done, I may switch my technique and do one long stretch of trim from back hem up to shoulder seam then down the front to the hem again, without stopping. Then repeat that on the other side, and that'll be eight of the nine seams that are getting trim done (since the center back doesn't get any trim at all, just grommets). I want to save center front and the sleeve cuffs for last, so that hopefully they'll look the nicest.
And once the center front trim is in place, I can switch gears again and start in on the much wider neckline trim. And then beading! And grommets! And finally a hem! And finishing the underdress handsewing at some point in there too! And making a little bag to carry my stuff in! And maybe if I'm lucky I'll still have time to pull together another cosplay or two to round out my Dragon Con schedule!
I can keep hoping, anyway. There's about 80 days until Dragon Con, 11 weeks and just a couple of days, and those last days really should be for laundry and packing and any last minute adjustments. 11 weeks to get it all done. I should probably get back to handsewing.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Got tagged by @goodwithcheese by proxy [kinda]. ;)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?: I have 35 works on AO3. 28 on fanfiction.net. Some fics are reposts from the latter. I have 31 fanfics on tumblr, 29 of them being Pedro character fics. AO3 is just my back up for these fics (I have to load more on AO3 soon; it's missing some fics).
2. What's your total AO3 word count?: 162,722 - I'm not shocked. Most of that probably comes from like 3 or 4 of my fanfics.
3. What fandoms do you write for?: The Pedro fandom, though I've written for Supernatural (CW), 911 Lone Star, 12 Monkeys (Syfy), and Dominion (Syfy) in the past.
4. Top five fics by kudos
The Outcast with 56
The Journey with 49
A Bad Fall and Colors with 42
Sweet Summer and Visitation Rights with 37
One Night with 36
It's funny what hits on there compared to here on tumblr (Sweet Summer is my #1 fic on here). It's a little different (Joel is popular in every universe though).
I didn't link to AO3 because that's just my secondary fanfic dump. I rarely visit it. I'm on tumblr every day.
5. Do you respond to comments?: Yes, they're usually very simple cause I don't often know what to say to "this was so good!" but I always try to comment on every single one because they made an effort and I have the time to do it.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?: Definitely my latest fic Betrayal. I don't write unhappy endings often (I never do), but when I do it's for a writing challenge. Otherwise, there's also Weary that ends bittersweet.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?: This is impossible cause I am such a happily ever after person. The Outcast certainly in the traditional sense (Pero finding love and a home). But there's also The Rockford Files which starts with Tim having a angsty background but puts that to rest at the end (and he also finds love). My Sweet Summer Series and Second Chances Series are also both happy endings. Baby Fever too. For one shots maybe any of my Frankie fanfics. I also really like in canon happy endings so I have fics like The Tree which could fit into TLOU canon (but in my version lots of game 2/season 2 plots never happen).
8. Do you get hate on fics?: Not yet. Guess I'm not popular enough for them to pay attention to me. Quite frankly, I'm insulted I get ignored by the trolls. :P
9. Do you write smut?: Yep. Definitely. It's a requirement for all my romantic fics that are multi-chaptered. I like my smut even though writing them takes forever, especially since I'm still trying to not repeat myself even after so many fics (always trying to change up the words/terms I use, positions, etc.). I do still have fluff fics and angst fics that don't have it, but they're short fics so I don't need the spice to keep my short attention span focused.
10. Craziest crossover: I don't write crossovers
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?: I don't think so
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?: No. Maybe? I think someone once asked if they could translate one of my SPN fics to Russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?: No. I wouldn't want to collab. I don't even like writing with myself sometimes. And I think my style of writing is way too different from others for it to all blend well. Most importantly, I like having full creative control of my fics.
Sometimes I wish I had a ghost writer though. lol
14. All time favorite ship?: Too many. And too many were not together at the end (chose different people/one died). :( Uh...Oh! Melinda/Jim on Ghost Whisperer! That's got to be my favorite couple! Jim is the perfect husband. If any guys need an example for being a great husband...Jim. Jim is a great one.
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?: I plan on finishing all my WIPs. Whether I have the time for them all is the question but I don't have one where I'm like: as if that'll happen. I am pretty sure given enough time I'll get to them all.
16. What are your writing strengths?: I always have a hard time finding the answer to this. Having a clear sight of where I want to go? What I want to write, I guess? I'm not bad with convo I guess. I think my smut is pretty well written if not a little on the mechanical side (I need to work on explaining what they're feeling vs. what they're doing.)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?: I'd say details. Sure I can explain how something or someone looks but it's like "the mountain was massive" and not all poetic or anything. I try. If I never get there, well, that's why I write fanfics and not books. I'm not going to sweat it.
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?: I don't mind sprinkling it in, but I don't know any languages besides English, at least not really. You'd think having French in school and watching Narcos with all that Spanish I'd pick up more than a few words but...nope.
19. First fandom you wrote in?: Supernatural. My first official fic was in 2010 but I had one or two I wrote on a Microsoft word doc before that that never saw the light of day.
20. Favorite fic you've written?: I'd say The Outcast. It was one of those fics that came out of nowhere but sometimes those are the best ones. I loved writing for the characters and writing about nature and the horses, etc. Plus it was fun making winter a stage for new beginnings.
x
Everyone seeing this who is a writer, I tag you. (If you want to talk about your fics, go right ahead!) Also @solanumofthestars and @trulybetty
x
P.S. this is why Jim's amazing:

Entry 1.1-1 - Zombie-Proofing
Welcome to my blog. I鈥檓 not tagging anything but entry #, so sorry if my unrelated mess somehow ends up in your search.
-Note: The portion of time I spent during this update only takes enough content for one post. For consistency I will still refer to it as "pt 1" so that tags are consistent
Welcome to version 1.1! There were no bug fix updates for this version, but in the future I will default to the latest version (ex: version 1.2 up next will begin in 1.2.5)
This update didn't add anything that will really affect my world, mostly just changes to creative mode and superflat. There were some terrain/biome changes, but again, I'm not trying to wander very far, especially with Caves&Cliffs such a long way off.
Since there are no new achievements, my only goals are to obtain all wool colors and to complete a wall around my village in preparation for zombie sieges being added in the next update. I may also try to build a creeper trap to try to get all of the records, but I'm not sure yet.
I also took advantage of the nether portal/crafting table duplication exploit a bit before the update, and I know that glitch returns in 1.8 so ;) Remember kids, it isn't cheating if it's baked into the game.
...right. they didn't add the ability to place slabs just on the top until [checks notes] oh 1.2.1 cool. I have to look at my weird window/arrow holes for just one version. That's not terrible.
I thought I had all of the colors but I think I'm missing magenta, that'll be a quick fix. Also, can we talk about how pastel the light blue and light pink sheep are compared to the wool? Wow.
I've got the basic body of the wall down and I've been putting torches in the ground (covered with leaves for camo) to try to prevent anything spawning inside. It'll be a long time until they update the lighting requirements for hostile mob spawns to be super dark, so this might take some fidgeting to perfect.
Right now I've got gates in the 4 directional openings (until 1.5 when I can set up some redstone with daylight sensors anyway) and all of the wall is at least 3 blocks high, so I could call this part done... but I do want to at least have all of the gates outlined.
I'm also only at about halfway through my picture requirement on this post, so I guess I will go ahead and try to get all of the discs. 1.1 is about to be a single post long lol
lfg all wool done B)
On second thought, fuck the music discs. Creeper traps did Not work, the skeletons got too close and they exploded ._.
Okay, I've gotten all of my walls to at least go over their respective opening/gate and I've started spider-proofing the outside, that's honestly good enough for me.
YES! Turns out, there was a bug fix in 1.1 to make Sniper Duel function properly, so I can now officially say we're done with both 1.0 and 1.1
Up next, dog breeding, cats, and iron golems. I anticipate this one taking a lot longer than 1.1 since my goals are to collect all of the cat types and set up an iron golem farm
next (1.2.5-1)
