buncha trans people went out and invented the terms "assigned fe/male at birth" to avoid referring to trans people as male or female inaccurately, and then refused to separate afab from female from woman in their brain. which gives us the "afab bodies" and "afab socialization" and people using the acronyms as nouns
some people have made the separation from female/male and woman/man, but still keep the idea that afab = female and amab = male. this leads to trans people and/or allies trying to argue against transphobes but saying that trans women are all male and trans men are all female. or acting like all """afabs""" and only """afabs""" have boobs — calling them "afab chests" — hello, have you heard of estrogen? or top surgery? or any other of the multitude of ways to not fit the expectation for an "afab chest?"
and strangely it's always people using afab this way too, never the converse. you don't see people saying "amab bodies" to refer to a flat chest
#i think its possibly that typically ''''female'''' anatomy is more considered dirty words as compared to its counterparts#and possibly related to the reaction of transphobes to the perceived threat of trans women 'taking over womanhood' or whatever the crap#or could be the corners of the internet I'm on#I've seen some weird stuff like this abt 'amab' as well (some nb person on instagram called their nb friend 'an amab' 🤢) but thats much less#common ime#trans#transgender#transphobia#transsexual#afab#amab#agab#agab language#o.
