I love to image what it'd be like if they actually went along and accepted working with WICKED.

That was actually the case in my first TMR fanfic, Hey, Tommy, which I'll link at the end, in case anyone wants to check it out 😉😅 But for real, imagine how things would go if the Gladers and Group B stayed and helped WICKED in the researches.

I believe it's made fairly explicit in the third book that there'll be no cure. They hoped to have the blueprint ready by the end of Phase One of the Trials, that didn't work. Phase Two was needed and still that wasn't enough. They do claim to be super close to finishing it, but I'm not sure about how truthful they were with that, I'm not sure that dissecting Thomas brain would actually finish the blueprint; especially because even Dr. Paige, the most enthusiastic person about continuing the Trials, thought that it wouldn't be enough and called it off in the last minute.

So why am I reminding everyone of the obvious? To tell you that no, I don't think that if the Gladers had helped WICKED, the cure would have been created. But I do like to imagine an alternate universe in which the cure was real, and that with the help of the Gladers and Group B, they managed to get to it. Very similarly to movieverse.
